My aunt’s words replayed in my head as I sat on the bed in Axel’s room. It didn’t make sense that the goddess would give me these powers and then still make it difficult for me. I didn’t even know I had them until the streak started from the day I slapped Scarlett.
Even then, I thought it was just a pitiful shine of luck for I couldn’t control it after that. It never manifested. It didn’t help me escape the prison Marshal had put me into only to appear when I was set on fire.
Then I believed it. I believed that it was within me somewhere. Something the goddess sent to protect me because I didn’t think it could be controlled.
