I knew I had messed up but fortunately for me, cleaning up was my strongest hold.
Lying to Phoenix about her aunt was the best thing I could come up with at the time but now that it was in the open, I was determined to fix it. I tightened my hold on the steering wheel and moved as fast as I could through the empty road.
It was already too late for anyone to be lurking around the road and naturally, I could have advised her to let it wait till morning but the pain and anger that moved within her eyes were enough to keep the words sealed in my mouth forever.
