My Son Before the Alpha

Chapter Two: The Alpha

     Axel’s POV

     I can’t even believe these idiots dragged me out of the office again for another one of these “outings”. Kasey my beta and Wyatt my gamma pushed me out of the pack house before I could refuse. Of course we ended up at one of Wyatt’s many country clubs. They said Ive been working too hard and honestly they aren’t wrong. Ive been spending most of my time tied up in my office working on my new company proposal. 

     My mom even has been getting on me about trying to find my mate. I tried so hard when I first turned sixteen but after I visited every pack possible with no luck I gave up on searching. She’s more interested in having grand-baby’s while Im focused on building the pack and my companies. 

     Luckily though I wasn’t the only one without a mate. Both Kasey and Wyatt don’t have theirs either which makes it easier on all of us. Kasey has been trying hard to find his mate too and honestly Im surprised he hasn’t found her yet. He has always been dedicated to his mate while Wyatt and I have had many other relationships. After awhile though I figured out that it wasn’t worth it. Each woman I was with made it harder not to think of my mate. They became unattractive, their smell was always pungent, and I couldn’t stand to be around them for too long before I became unbelievably annoyed. 

     Just like right now as we sit under this stupid tent waiting for our waitress to come back with a very large drink order. Thankfully though our waitress was the same we always got and she never tried to flirt or cling to us. I sat there thinking until I was interrupted by one of the guys trying to catch my attention.

     “Hey alpha, you with us?” Wyatt chuckled.

     “Yeah asshole, Im fine. Why did you even bring me here?” I groaned.

     “Because you needed a break. Everything’s been running well and business is booming. The pack is healthy and strong but all you seem to do is worry.” He said as he slapped me on my back hard while sitting down on the couch next to me. 

     I rolled my eyes at his forwardness as Kasey and the other warriors that tagged along talked about some new training ideas. “Whatev….” I started to say but I stopped mid word as the most delicious scent of Lemons and Rosemary, it is intoxicating. I felt my wolf surface suddenly at the scent as I watched the most beautiful angel Ive ever seen walks through the curtain. Her fiery red hair bounced slowly around her face as it glowed with a soft smile. Her mossy green eyes where breath taking and just the sight of her in that uniform made me want to grind her into the wall. I knew she was human but truthfully I didn’t care, she is mine. 

    Its funny how she made her way over to the table without making eye contact with any of us and I noticed how she was sweet but not overly sexy. She was just here to do her job, which made me happy that she wasn’t one of those women who beg for attention from men. At that second her voice carried over the air like a melody making my heart pound faster. She sat down the tray easily but when she raised her head she finally made eye contact with me. Trapping her in her spot I could almost feel the growl of dominance   but I didn’t want to scare her off. Oddly though I could smell a light smell of a rogue on her which didn’t make sense.

     Just then the other waitress cleared her throat catching my mates attention sadly. She said something about more drinks but I was more interested in looking at my sexy mates body. Her skin was lightly sun kissed with freckles scattered around her body like constellations. Her large breast where on the verge of popping out of that swim top and the long see through skirt barley covered any of her very plump hips. 

     Then my dumb gammas voice echoed through the room saying something about staying. I guess they all noticed my infatuation with this women meaning that she was my mate but they could also tell she was human. Then the girl started talking again but I could hardly focus until she said “Emery”. I tested the name on my lips like it was honey.  I need emery, need her to stay but the other girl gripped Emerys back pushing her towards the exit before I could growl in warning. Then the girls were gone.

    Looking over at Kasey I saw the s**t eating grin spread across his lips. “Is she?” He whispered softly but slightly excited to finally have a luna. 

    I was still busy trying to control my body from claiming her right then and there but I guess the stupid smile on my face gave it away as the guys all jumped up howling. Already happy that I found my mate I was even happier that some of my best friends were happy to have their luna. The one destined to lead the pack. “Dude you got to get her back in here!” Kasey yelled at Wyatt who was already heading towards the opening in the curtain to talk to the manager. “Bro you got to win her over. You ready?” Kasey asked patting me on the shoulder.

     “Ive talked to a lot of women but I don’t know if Im ready to talk to her. What if she doesn’t feel it? What if I just turn into a babbling i***t? Or worse! If she thinks I only want to see her s*x?!?” I growled at the idea of losing my mate due to my own stupidity and throw my face into my hands. 

     “Axe, she’s going to love you. She’s your other half and your hers. She’s human though so just make sure to give her time.” He assured me which made me just nod my head but did little for my nerves. I was going to have to take it slow.

     Once Wyatt came back in with the Allison girl I waited as patiently as possible for Emery. Oddly I already missed her and just wanted to be around her but truthfully my wolf just really wanted her around to make sure no one else was touching her or getting to her. 

     When she walked in the room my heart sped up again and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her, she didn’t look up though. She continued into the room going towards our serving table that held most of our other drinks. We made sure to order some extras though that the ladies might like too. I didn’t know what to order so I just ordered everything. Not like money really mattered. 

    She was cleaning up a few things when I finally decided to get up and go to her. Having her so close but so far away was painful. Reaching for her to gain her attention she responded immediately looking up to me. Her eyes were even more beautiful close up. They had this swirling affect of different shades of green as she looked into my eyes curiosity. “Hi, Im Axel.” I introduce myself.

     I could her the speeding of her heart and her gulp nervously. “Emery.” she responded her voice low

     Even though I already knew her name just the sound of it coming from her lips made it so much better. “Wow, What a beautiful name.” Her blush was so cute I couldn’t help myself from smiling. I needed to get her to loosen up a little bit. “So Emery, would you like something to drink?” I offer. It was weird because normally Im the one people offer to get things for but for her I would do anything. I would deliver the drink on my knees if she asked me to.

      She audibly laughed at my question before a sly smile spread on her lips. “Um isn’t that what Im suppose to ask you?” I immediately shook my head not even letting her think that she needs to serve me.

     “Well I don’t care, a lady shouldn’t get her own drink. What would you like?” I could tell though that she was hesitant due to her still technically working so I quickly mind linked Wyatt who then yelled “I’m your bosses boss and I say you can drink!” 

     She finally slumped her shoulders looking defeated but laughed. Taking a look over all the drinks she went to grab for one of the flavored vodkas but I grabbed it before she got her hands on it. As I picked up a glass I poured the raspberry flavored alcohol into it and then quickly thinking of the perfect pairing which was sprite. By the look on her face  I could tell that, that was exactly what she wanted. 

     Handing her the glass she took a slow sip of the drink but I was rewarded with the sexiest moans Ive ever heard. She visibly relaxed a little after that, I decided it was my turn to shoot my shot. My nerves almost took over me as I thought about her denying me but then thought that would be stupid. Rubbing the back of my neck nervously I forced myself to say what I wanted to say. “Would you mind maybe keeping me company?”

     “Of course sir.” She smiled at me almost making me gasp.

     “Please mi cielito, you can just call me axel.” (my little heaven) I insist.

      I led her to the seat I was occupying before and thought of the best way to keep her close. I could see she was feeling shy so I gently grabbed her hand and pulled her onto my lap which sent my senses into overdrive. Leaning in I breathed in her intoxicating scent again committing it to memory. I whisper in her ear, “So tell me more about yourself emery.” 

     “Not much to tell,” She shrugged. “I just recently moved here, I love the beach and I work here.” Her giggle making it hard to focus on her words “What about you axel?”

     “Well other than I’m sitting with the most beautiful women in the world, nothing really.” I know it sounded cheesy and dumb but I couldn’t help myself.

     “So are you from Alabama?” She asked after taking another drink.

     I smiled with pride at this “Born and raised, all of us here are. We are all buddies from the same pac-” I stuttered worried that I already blew this “We all from the same town. Went to high school together.” I caught myself with a lie.

     I could tell that she wanted to ask about what I almost said but instead she keeps it simple. “So what do you do?” 

     Letting out my breath finally I tell her, “I own and operate multiple different companies including a couple of big name stores and tech companies.” Which I notice her jaw drop to the floor putting two and two together.

     “S-so your Axel Grayson?” She gulped “The owner of Gray Technology’s?!?” She was genuinely surprised.

     I just chuckled “The one and only! I’m surprised you heard of me.” Now I was the one surprised. 

     “Oh. My. God. Of course I’ve heard of you! Youngest top selling tech president ever, hottest bachelor in America and currently trying to start a new Security business. How have I not heard of you?!” I just laughed at her statement. She sounded like one of those fan-girls that are weirdly obsessed with me just for my looks and money but there was something in her eyes that made me think that wasn’t the reason behind her excitement.

     “Wow, do you know my whole resumé?” I asked excited that she followed me and was interested in me.

     This made her blush all over, “I’m sorry sir, that was extremely inappropriate.” She said as she went to get up but I wouldn’t let her. 

     “No I’m sorry, I’m just very flattered that a beautiful women like yourself would even know about me.” Now I was blushing from flattery.

     Until I was suddenly interrupted with an urgent mind link. “Alpha, we have had a major attack from rogues on the property. We killed or captured a majority of them but we want you here for questioning. They are asking for you personally.” I knew this link wasn’t only to me but also the other guys in the room so I quickly looked over at Kacey who just nodded his head before getting up to settle the tab and get the car ready.

     “Emery…” I breathed out, not wanting to leave without her. “Something just came up, mi cielito.” She tried to stand up but I just couldn’t let her go, not yet at least.“I want to see you again…” I whispered softly in her ear.

     “Axel…” She started but I could hear the hesitation in her voice. I knew she was about to say no but I couldn’t let her.

   “Here is my card, please call, text, email, I don’t care. Just contact me.” I smiled at her hoping that she is willing to take a chance on me. I lean down to her slowly not wanting to go without a final touch and gave her a gentle kiss on her cheek. “I look forward to hearing from you Emery.” I could smell her arousal already which was making my wolf stir again. Leaving her with my most seductive smile, I turned away and grabbed my shirt and shoes making my way to the car. 

     I was pissed now that I had to go back so soon but I knew that this whole rogue thing needed to be taken care of. Mind linking Kasey I roar at him, “This better be worth it or I will kill each and everyone of them!”

    Once we made it back to the pack house I headed straight to the cells without even bothering to change out of my swim shorts and t-shirt. I needed to know who ruined my time with my mate. Swinging the main door so hard it almost flew off its hinges I stepped into the holding area that had multiple rooms for questioning and torture. My head security office came straight up to me giving me the low down on what he already knew. “Im so sorry alpha but I knew you would want to speak with them personally. There were ten of them originally but we killed eight who refused to submit. We have two left one chained up in room A and the other in room B. Right now the one in room A is unconscious from fighting but B is awake.” 

     “Thank you Ryker, We’ll take it from here. I want patrol doubled just incase there is a second attack.” I order.

    “Yes alpha.” He replied before running off to do as I said. I lucked out with some of the men and women I worked with. They all respected me and followed me with blind trust. It was reassuring. 

    “Kacey, I want wolfsbane, the silver knife set, and the burning rod.” Kacey took off for the items I requested while Wyatt waited for his orders. 

     “I want you to go in and try to relate to him. You know the drill.” Wyatt’s mischievous smile spreads across his face before heading to room B to talk to the nasty wolf. 

     I kept my blood from boiling over as I wait for my turn to take over. Entering the room that had access to the double way mirror for room B I watched as the rogue spit in Wyatts face but his demeanor didn’t change. Luckily he is a pretty tough dude but Im tougher and rougher. It should be very interesting watching this stupid wolf beg for mercy.

Emery POV

     After I made it home and relieved Rose for her baby sitting duties I decided to take a quick shower and got to bed because I was completely exhausted. Throughout the rest of the night I could keep my mind from Axel. His words, touch, breath, and eyes where my constant distraction which made it hard to remember drink orders. 

     I snaked my way into the bed trying to keep from waking up the sleeping angel next to me. I almost laughed out loud when he felt the shift in the bed and snuggled into my stomach. Just this simple act made my entire body relax. I pull my phone out checking the time a notice its already eleven forty-five. Almost plugging in my phone I stop mid way before I pull it back up and type ‘Axel Grayson’ in my search engine. 

     His picture popped up immediately which made me smile like a love struck teenager. I don’t know what was different about him but he just made me feel… special. 

     Pulling out the business card I received earlier I looked over the number, email and fax making myself chuckle from his words. I wanted to send him a quick text just to see if he was serious or not but my nerves got the best of me before I did. I at least added his number to my contacts and plugged it in before laying back in bed with my favorite man.  Luckily I don’t have to work tomorrow so I thought of a couple of different things Eli and I could do. Thinking maybe I’ll take him to the beach again and have a picnic, I decided that I’ll think of something tomorrow. Before I closed my eyes my brain switched back to Axel and I fell asleep thinking of his muskie scent and deep voice.
