My Son Before the Alpha

Chapter Three: Your Son?

Amelia POV

     Each step I make takes me deeper into the eerie woods. The full moon shining from above making the forest floor glow. My heart is racing out of my chest as the only thing I heard was the crunch and snapping of leaves and twigs under my bare feet. That was when I realized that Eli was no where to be seen. Panicking I started to search behind trees snd in bushes screaming his name. What could have happened to him? What if he’s lost? Or worse… hurt? I felt as if I couldn’t breath and my anxiety skyrocketed. I continued to scream Eli’s name until I could hardly scream anymore. 

     In mid panic I turned around but my eyes instead met with a complete monster with nasty blood shot eyes that were oddly familiar. Ive seen those eyes before… The giant wolf stood in front of me ready to pounce. His dark brown fur looked matted and dirty. Its teeth were bared and ready to straddle my neck while he set off low growls deep from his chest. Somehow it was bigger than a regular wolf, standing taller than me. My fear ripped through me as my body started shaking. The beast kneeled down staring straight at me before he finally attacked my weak body.

     ….Then it all went dark….

     I sat straight up screaming at the top of my lungs. Sweat dripping down my face making my hair stick to my face. Trying to calm my nerves I look around my room noticing that I was safe at home and Eli was laying in my lap laughing. “Im sorry mommy!” he giggled “I didn’t mean to scare you.” I let out a relieved breath as I tried to calm down my heart rate. Just the sound of his giggling made me forget about my nightmare.

     “I know baby, mommy just had a bad dream.” I reassured him while pulling him into a tight hug. He was still giggling from his earlier attack. A mischievous smile spread on my lips as a thought popped in my head. “But now I think it’s my turn to get you!” As I tickle Eli in all of his most sensitive spots. He was my sunshine and the light of my life. Without him I would be nothing.

     We were silly for a little longer having a small tickle fight before we both decided that pancakes sounded amazing. I sent Eli to go get ready for the day as we were going to be spending the day at the beach. He was so excited he loved the ocean ever since we made it here and I knew it would be a fun relaxing day, plus its cheap.

     As I waited for the pan to heat up, I heard my phone go off from the bedroom. Walking back I reach for the bed side table when my heart dropped quickly. It was a text from an unknown number. Did he find us? How could he? 

     I took deep calming breathes before unlocking my phone. Forcing myself to read the message. 

Good Morning Emery, Its Axel from the beach club. I just wanted to apologize about leaving so abruptly yesterday and wanted to know if I could make it up to you? Would you join me for dinner?

     I finally let out the breath that I was holding, as I softly bite my bottom lip with a smile. I would love to go to dinner with him but… I can’t. I can’t risk Eli, no matter how hot they are. 

    Instead I completely ignore the message and make my way back towards the kitchen to start on our breakfast.

     When we made it to the beach we grabbed the perfect spot and laid out our large beach blanket and other stuff. When we first got here I surprised Eli with a small sandcastle making set so he was all but happy to bring it along. We made sandcastles, swam and he played with a couple other kids at the beach as I read. 

     At lunch time I called Eli back over while I got our food ready. I set up our plates and as he sat down I went to hand him his when my eyes landed on an all too familiar face. Axel and a bunch of other men and women were running on the shore line. Most of the men shirtless and sexy. I couldn’t keep my mind from racing and my core from clenching, it was hypnotic. Out of surprise I dropped Eli’s plate on the ground making him groan. “Im sorry baby, here have mine.” I hurriedly try and hand over my sandwich and chips as I attempted to not draw Axels attention. But just like fate would have it, I saw in my peripheral vision that they came to a sudden stop right in front of us. It’s like he sensed me as the others started doing different excises in the sand, I noticed axel sauntering towards us. f*****g great.

    “Emery?” his sexy voice rang out loud and I had no other choice but to turn towards him acknowledging his existence but I didn’t say a word due to my fogged brain. He looked at the two of us with confusion. Axel was now kneeling down on the blanket to talk face to face.

    “Who are you?” Eli asked sweetly standing up to axel looking him straight in his eyes. He has always been such an outstanding kid who is friendly to everyone. 

    “Im Axel, what’s your name?” Axel said in a kind and soft voice surprising me slightly.

    “I’m Eli! How do you know my mommy?” He asked almost making me choke on the water I was sipping. 

    “We are friends? She is very nice.” Axel said taking a sly glance at me. I mentally face palm myself because now he knows I have a kid and now he’s going to ask more questions. Great.

     “She’s the best mommy ever!” Eli exclaimed. “She made me pancakes this morning and bought me this pale and shovel to build sandcastles all day!” I could tell how happy he was which just made me smile from ear to ear. 

     Axel chuckled slightly smiling at both of us, “I love pancakes! Maybe sometime I can join you? That pale and shovel is so cool man!”  

     “Yeah…” Eli started to reply but I had to interrupt this awkward situation.

     “Eli baby, you need to eat your lunch.” I stated trying to stop this odd interaction. 

     He took his seat again and started to eat the food I had given him as I cleaned up the spilled food. When I went to get up to throw out the wasted food, I felt axel get up from behind me and follow. Once I made it to the public trash can I turned around and was met with Axels chiseled chest. I huffed in surprise and the tingles that spread on my hands that came up in protection. “Why did you ignore me?” He asked looking down at me as I was frozen to the spot. 

     “Ummm… Ive just been busy with Eli and getting ready for the beach.” I shrugged his question off as I made my way under his arm and walked back towards the blanket. 

    I felt his fingers intertwine with mine as he called my name. “Emery wait…” He pleaded. I turned around quickly keeping my ground. Just lifting an eyebrow in question waiting for him to continue. 

     He suddenly looked nervous and started to rub the back of his neck looking anywhere but my expecting eyes. “I just… I just really wanted to see you again.” Using his most sexy and persuading smile. I didn’t reply though, I didn’t even react. “I didn’t know you had a son?” He said now looking me in the eyes with question which made me suddenly notice one of the men that were running with axel had came up to him and started to help him build sandcastles.

     “Um who is he?” I asked but then when I started speed walking towards them worried for Eli’s safety that I noticed it was one of the men from yesterday in the canopy. 

     “Emery, this is Kasey my best friend. Kasey this is Emery, from yesterday.” Kasey didn’t bother getting up from his spot when he stuck out his hand for me to shake and smiled.

     “Its nice to finally be introduced.” He laughed so kindly while still trying to help with the moat.

     I released the breath that I didn’t know I was holding as Eli kept bossing Kasey around on how to build the moat. It made me giggle for a second watching my little boy boss around this massive built man. Thats when I felt the hand on my side as I got pulled to turn around and look at axel. He was about to say something but I had to let him down.

     “Axel, Im sorry but I can’t go out with you. It’s not you, it’s just bad timing.” I started to say but Eli interrupted me with screaming in excitement while he wrapped his little arms around my legs. 

     “Mommy! Kasey said that he has a huge pool with a water slide and he invited us over for a swim! Can we go?!?” 

     “Um honey, I don’t think that’s a …” I started to say before Axel interrupted me this time.

     “We would love to have both of you over. What about tomorrow?” He smiled down at me and Eli making Eli jump up and down again while I glared back at Axel.

     “Mommy, mommy, mommy, PPPPLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEE!” He begged tugging at my heart strings. He knew I couldn’t say no to him when he used his puppy dog eyes. 

     Looking back at Axel as he had a victorious smile on his face I leaned up only inches from him so that Eli couldn’t hear. “Fine but no funny business. Got it?” I felt like a complete lunatic even thinking about going over to a strangers house. What if he was a serial killer or a s*x offender? but something within me told me I was wrong. They were generally good people and just watching both of them interact with Eli and I gave me reassurance. 

     Axels smile grew three times bigger as he knelt back down to Eli’s height, “Its a plan! So what do you want to eat when you’re over?” He asked but as I started to insist that he didn’t need to do that, Eli started yelling about hamburgers and hotdogs and something else about pop sickles. 

     “Axel you don’t need to do that.” I sighed looking at him. He stood up now leaning into my face like I did to him earlier.

     “You are my guests of course I do. What would mommy like to have?” He asked this time a little more seductively which oddly made my knees weak.

     I gulped nervously at our close proximity and my mouth was suddenly watering. “Um I-I can eat hot dogs and hamburgers. Thats fine.” I couldn’t figure out how he did that to me but I didn’t revel on it too long. 

     When I started to bite my lower lip I noticed Axels eyes dip down to my mouth while his eyes suddenly got very dark. His eyes continued to lower farther down to my chest, my stomach and all the way down my legs and back up. He clearly check me out in my little bikini swimsuit which just made me blush. I turned away from him while brushing my hair back from my face, he reached up touching my chin to pull my face back towards him. “Ill see you tomorrow then?” He asked sweetly. All I could manage as I stared into that deep brown eyes was a head nod not trusting my words. “Ill text you the address.” He stated before landing a kiss on the top of my head and walking back towards the small crowd waiting for him. “Bye Eli, See you tomorrow!” He smiled down at him while Kasey got up from the ground ruffling Eli’s hair before following behind Axel. Everyone in the small crowed smiled back at Eli and I and some even waved making Eli laugh. I wonder why they were all together? Maybe it was like a work out group or something. 

     As I shrugged off the idea I went back to playing with Eli until the sun set and we made our way back towards home. Honestly I couldn’t keep my mind off of Axel again no matter how hard I tried. I guess it was a good thing we were seeing him tomorrow. I hope it just doesn’t end awkwardly.

Axel’s POV

     SHE HAS A KID! My wolf whined over and over again as I thought about the Emery’s sweet boy. I knew it wasn’t the best situation but I needed to know if she was available. She’s my mate. MINE. So I needed to figure out what was going on. She had no wedding ring, she works at a beach club as a bottle girl, and she never mentioned anything before about a boyfriend or husband. Hopefully I would be able to find out more tomorrow.

     I mentally fist pumped in the air as we ran back towards the pack house. We were five miles away which meant we were only half way through our noon run. I always liked to make the warriors run on the beach for the resistance but today I was even more excited that I got the chance to see my mate. What a happy coincidence.

     When we made it back to the pack house I had everything made up for tomorrow and cleaned thoroughly. Honestly the gammas always made sure everything was already clean but I wanted it perfect. I knew today on the beach Emery was going to turn me down but I couldn’t let her. So I quickly mind linked Kasey and before I knew it everything was perfectly planned. Even when she threatened me with no funny business it made me notice how strong and tough she is. Protective but a softy for her little boy. 

     As I made it back towards my office after a nice hot shower I walked in and saw Kasey and Wyatt sitting across from my desk. “Hey guys.” I grunted already annoyed.

     “Don't “Hey guys.” us!” Wyatt started to yell. I was shocked by the tone in his voice though as they both stared me down when I made it to my chair. 

     “What?” I growled at his tone even though I knew it meant nothing. 

     “Bro did you know?” Kasey asked now worried.

     “About her son? No.” I sighed.

     “NO!” Wyatt yelled again making my wolf to start come out. My eyes flashed quickly shutting him up. “Did you know the kid is half wolf?” 

     My heart started to race as I thought about it. I was so consumed with Emery’s beautiful scent that I didn’t even notice Eli’s. How could he? She didn’t seem to notice anything odd or even say anything when he almost let it slip yesterday. “HH-H-How?” I asked nervously. Does she even know he’s half wolf?

     “When we were playing on the ground his smell was slightly hidden but once I got close to him I noticed it. He’s half wolf alpha.” Kasey explained as my brain ransacked the idea. 

     “Do you think Emery knows?” Asked Wyatt now more calm at me.

     “I don’t… I don’t know. I mean I don’t think so at least.” 

     “You are going to need to tell her.” Wyatt said like it was the easiest thing in the world. 

     “WHAT?!?” I growled again. I barley knew how I was going to tell Emery that I was a wolf let alone how to tell her that her son is half wolf! I stood up quickly pacing back and forth before I threw a punch into the wall. 

     “How?” I breathed out. I was talking to myself more then I was talking to the guys but I was willing to take some suggestions. 

     “Well how about you wait a little. Maybe take her on a couple of dates, let her trust you.” Kasey said reassuringly but it was little help.

     I nodded my head trying to take in what he said. “Yeah dude it’ll be fine, just give her some time before you dump that kind of news on her.” Wyatt agreed which just made me even more nervous. I didn’t only have to keep my own secret but keep the secret of her sons true self. f**k I’m seriously screwed on this one. I facepalm myself while I supported my hands on my knees. 

     “Do you even know if she’s single? She has a kid axel.” Kasey asked which just seemed to make me want to hit him in the face. 

     “She’s single.” I stated.

     “But how do you…” Wyatt started to add but I wasn’t having any of it.

     “SHES MINE.” I roared now loud enough to make the birds from outside my window fly away from the sudden sound. 

     They were both silent for a second while I did everything I could to calm down. Then Wyatt started to add again, “We know alpha. She’s yours, there is no one questioning that. But is she available to be yours?” I sighed in frustration know that he was right but just thinking about her with another male killed me when though I knew it was obvious. 

     “I know, Im sorry. Kasey,” I lifted my head to look directly into my beta’s eyes. “I need you to find out anything and everything about her. I don’t care the cost.”

     “Yes alpha.” He stated.

     “Wyatt, its’ your job to not tell anyone else about her being our possible future luna. I don’t want anyone scaring her off. Make sure all of the gammas and extra pack members are relocated to the separate houses or are at least hidden for the day. Well, other than Sophia.” Sophia was our head cook and sweetest lady ever. She always took such good care of all of us and for that I am thankful. I know she will help make sure tomorrow is perfect.

     “Yes alpha.” Wyatt smiled at me.

     They both got up knowingly that I dismissed them without having to say it. I was exhausted from all the news today. I wish she was here to help calm me down so that I didn’t feel like this, I knew she could. Just one little look into her gorgeous emerald eyes made everything seem so calm. I have to win her over tomorrow, make her believe that we are fated together without telling her that we are fated together. Except possibly going on a date with me and making her fall in love the normal human way which sucked. Why couldn’t she just be a wolf? That would be so much easier.
