Chapter6

Ava’s POV I was starting to feel dizzy from all the drama. It felt so unreal. A few days ago, I was unwanted my mate and was forced to stay away from the pack but now, two powerful men are fighting for me. Is this a dream? King Sebastian’s gaze was fixed on me and even though I tried denying it, my body definitely responded to him. It made no sense to me since I hadn’t rejected Alpha Jackson yet. “There is no need to fight.” One of the pack elders, elder Thomas spoke up, making his way to the front and all eyes turned to him. “Over the years, we have had cases of one female being mated to two or more mates. It is a natural occurrence.” He reveals and a gasp leaves my lips as I struggle to maintain my footing. Why did it have to be me? “In cases like this, the female can reject one of them only after a period of three months. In these three months, both men would do everything to win her over. It’s like a challenge to win her heart.” The Elder said and a scoff left Elsie’s lips. I already knew that she was bitter about all of this. “Those rules don’t apply to me. I am not a werewolf and the last thing I’ll do is to wait three months before claiming my mate.” King Sebastian growled, glaring at Elder Thomas. “I understand, My King but, that is the only way for Ava who is one of us. She has to abide by the rules.” Elder Thomas doesn’t back down. I almost scoff at his words. How dare he say that I am one of them? Since the day I failed to get my wolf, they have all treated me like a total outcast and even referred to me as a rogue. Not even one of them was on my side but now that it was revealed that I am mated to Alpha Jackson and also share a mate bond with King Sebastian, they all want to act like they love me. How pathetic! “Your rules?” King Sebastian laughed. “She doesn’t even have a wolf, so I guess it is safe to say that she isn’t one of you. I know that she is an outcast here so don’t you dare come here and act like she is one of you.” He said, pointing at each of them who hid their faces in shame. “It doesn’t matter. Her parents belong to this pack which means that she belongs to the pack! This is her home and I am her mate!” Alpha Jackson growls and I felt something stir within me. Anger. “Stop!” I scream, coming out from my hiding place and walked up to Alpha Jackson. I wanted to hit him so badly but, I couldn’t. He was still an Alpha. “You are pathetic, Jackson.” I say and his eyes widened in shock. “What are you saying, Ava? He is your Alpha!” I heard my mother say but I didn’t care anymore. I had the protection of a king so I couldn’t care less about an Alpha. “I don’t care! He rejected me and ordered me to never step my foot into this pack. How come he suddenly wants me? It is obvious that it is only because King Sebastian wants me he is acting like he cares about me. He doesn’t love me!” I scream, tears welling up in my eyes as I remembered how he rejected me without any remorse. “Ava, I- I made a mistake.’ He says and I am unable to hold my laughter. “I did too. I trusted you and thought that I could finally have a live here. But, I was wrong. I am not wanted here.” I say as the reality finally dawns on me. I look at my so called family who were staring at me with nothing but hate and irritation and a sigh leaves my lips as I turn back to Alpha Jackson. “I, Ava Wellington, accept your rejection.” I say with a cold stare and his eyes widen. He clutches his chest and staggers backward, the rejection taking a toll on him as he had a wolf. “No! You cannot!” He yelled, grabbing my arm but King Sebastian swiftly steps in and pushes him away from me. He is caught my father and some of his men who help him regain his balance. “It is done then. I shall leave with her in an hour.” King Sebastian announces and turns to me. “Do whatever you must and meet me in an hour.” King Sebastian said and walked out of the room with his men following behind. As soon as he left the room, mother walked up to me and raised her hand to slap me but her husband quickly stopped her. “Do you have a death wish, Sonia? She is now mated to the Lycan King. He will kill you if you lay your hands on her.” He scolded and she immediately brought her hands down. “Don’t think that you are now untouchable because you are mated to the Lycan King. It is only a matter of time until he realizes that he made a mistake.” Elsie spoke up, glaring at me. She had no intention of hiding her hate now that King Sebastian was out of the room. “You do not have a wolf, Ava. Remember that fact. Even if he wants you now, he will abandon you once his people find out that you are a weakling and not fit to rule their kingdom. Then, you will be tossed to the streets where you belong” Elsie said with a smirk. As much as I didn’t want to believe her, I couldn’t help but feel that she was right, King Sebastian was taking me to a kingdom full of Lycans and I didn’t even have a wolf. How will his people see me? What if they reject me and force him to do same? Fear immediately gripped my heart but I quickly covered it up and looked up at Elsie. “Be careful, sister. You don’t want to be killed, do you?” I say and her expression changes to a horrified one. “I am now the King’s mate and in a few days, I will become the queen of the Lycan Kingdom. Wolf or not, I have achieved what you will never achieve.” A smile appears on my face as I stare at her face that was filled with anger. She couldn’t say anything because she knew it was the truth. It felt good to finally put Elsie in her place after years of being tormented by her. “Ava…please. King Sebastian isn’t the right man for you. You do not know how dangerous he is.” I hear Alpha Jackson say from where he was. “It doesn’t matter. It will be better than being here with people who do not love me,” I reply and he shakes his head. I couldn’t understand why he was being this way. He looked like he genuinely rejected his actions but, I just couldn’t make the mistake of trusting him again. I am about walking out of the room when he grabs my arm and leans in. “I will win you back, Ava. I made the mistake of rejecting you once and I will make sure I rectify that mistake.” “This is not the end, Ava,” He says and I pull my arm away from him, ignoring the ache in my heart, “Goodluck trying, Jackson.”
