I was nervous when I saw the rogues but Samuel didn't flinch, he trusted his men's ability and I saw what they could do, they didn't play when the occasion arose. We reached Elvira a few hours later and were led to our hotel rooms for the night, we will continue to the cabin tomorrow as we were hungry and tired. I was about to go to the bathroom when I heard a knock on the door and I opened it, I saw King Emile, he smiled and I admired his beauty, Samuel cleared his throat and I let him in. I excuse myself to the bathroom not wanting to hear their conversation, I let my man be a man and handle his business. I took a quick shower and as I was blowdrying my hair, Samuel came into the bathroom and went into the shower. He said, "The others are heading down to the restaurant for dinner, Emile has reserved a table for us and thanked us for visiting," I smiled.
I felt his hand go around me saying, "We need to eat, beautiful," and kissed my shoulder before I headed out to change into something nice in case we decided to go out after dinner. We walked into the restaurant a few minutes later, I held my husband's hand and saw the others waiting on us, Esther was Bathazar's mate, she has been keeping her distance when children are around. She can't have kids and tried to adopt but the baby she was going to adopt years ago, the mother changed her mind after and it broke her so she gave up. She doesn't like pity so we don't pity her, we treat her the same as everyone else, Esther was a soldier in Samuels's army but once she mated Balthazar, she left and became a homemaker but she can defend herself pretty well. The twins looked so laid back when they had time to themselves, it was amazing how in sync they are with each other.
The dinner was going well and Rave told us many stories about when the guys were younger and training, he always knew Haru had a crush on him but never thought they would end up together because he loved the ladies. I asked him, "How did you know you were mates?" Haru looked at him so he could answer and I smiled at how adorable they were, Devon drank his drink saying, "I need to hear this," Lylac punched his arm and kissed him. Rave looked at me and said, "Samuel's first wife was my destined mate but she and her mother had other plans, so I did things in the name of love hurting my best friends, once the truth came out, I rejected her, Haru became my rock, over time, we fell in love, I didn't know when it happened but it did and before long, we were mated." Devon said, "So, my brother's charm eventually broke you down," Samuel said, "Or his back," we busted out laughing while Rave gave him the finger.
Haru smiled looking at Rave with so much love, and I asked, "So, what happens if Haru's mate shows up, or you get a second chance mate?" They held hands showing their wedding rings and Rave said, "He is my second chance mate," Haru said, "He is my destined mate, we felt the tingles a few months after he accepted Claire's rejection so we won't have to ever worry about that." I was shocked and said, "I thought you just chose each other," he smiled saying, "In a sense we did and the goddess saw what a match we were and gave us the bond." We decided to go to the club down the street, this was our time and we walked as a group, I saw Esther was not too happy and called her to walk with me, Balthazar dropped behind us but Emile's guards were around, and I could sense it. I asked, "What is plaguing your mind, Ese?"
She said, "I hate to be a bore but you know me and Balthy have been a bit distant these past few months, he has a child with someone I once considered a friend." I looked at her shocked, she said, "This getaway is for us to see if we should remain mated, I can't ever give him kids and I know he wanted a family, I feel like such a failure after being such a good soldier, I did my job well and now I can't do the one thing required for me to do as a mate." I was going to say something when Balthazar said, "I don't care if you can't give me a child, I love you and I didn't have a child with another because you are incapable of giving me one, it was a drunk night and inexcusable but I took accountability and did the responsible thing in being a father. I should have come clean years ago but I was afraid you won't see me the same."
I walked away leaving them to handle their problems, she loves him and I also know what it feels like to be betrayed by the one you love. Samuel held my hand and said, "Thanks for that, I know I made you feel like I didn't want you when I had the affair and I am sorry, Kaitlyn." I was about to ask him something important when we reached the club and he smiled pulling me towards the VIP lounge, we didn't talk anymore, we just partied the night away before we all headed back to our hotel rooms to rest. Tomorrow was going to be a long drive up the mountain to the cabin and we will have a blast. I knew our friends had their problems just like me and Samuel, and I knew he was hiding something important from me but I let it be, he has proven himself to me and our kids and ended up making love before drifting off to sleep.

We all got to our cars and I saw Samuel all smitten with Kaitlyn as they kissed each other, they all look well-rested when I saw Rave walking behind Haru who was adjusting his jacket. We heard a shot and ducked, Emile's men appeared and we all pulled out our guns when Ese started screaming, Lylac was hit taking a bullet to the stomach and was bleeding out. Devon jumped in and healed her because of the temporary mark she wore and I looked at Samuel before Emile appeared and said, "Get to the cabin, we got this." We trusted Emile so we got into the cars, Levi looked at Lylac and Devon said, "She will be fine," picking her up and getting in the car with her. Samuel was not happy and neither was Devon, but the Elves promised they had it handled and we were on their turf, so we headed to our deserved vocation.
