Chapter 21: Death Door & Mates

I didn't sleep much, I hardly ever ate, I had given birth and I was waiting to be executed for treason, I didn't know how I ended up here so quickly. My father doomed us all and got out, he is running around free while I will die for his schemes, he never loved me and I was stupid but he was all I ever knew. After finally speaking with Michael, he knew the truth but he was hurt and angry about everything and they already signed my death warrant. Michael assured me that he wouldn't let my father get away, he would find him and let him join me in the afterlife, we both will end up there, I am sure of it. I looked at my son, Orion's picture in my hand and cried, I will never see him grow up and that hurts me more than anything. I also thought about my first mate, Michael, and how in love we were and I screwed it up.

Flashback
"Michael, stop it, you know I love you, why do you torture me like this?" His fingers and mouth did wonders as I came down from my high, he looked at me with so much love and pulled me into a kiss. We lay by the lake naked as our session was a very intimate one, he told me about getting mated but my father didn't allow it, he hated Michael for some stupid reason I disagreed with. He asked me to sit my father down and talk to him so he could finally announce me as his mate but I didn't want to disappoint my father. I was scared to do it because of what he would say but I also wanted my mate, I believed in destined mates, just like my mother, my father told me about their love story and I wanted that. Michael kissed me one more time before we got dressed and headed back to the Palace, we held hands and when we got closed, we acted like we just went for a casual walk. He had placed a flower in my hair and I remember our little rendevous by the lake, something I will never forget.

Present Time
I was brought out of my thoughts when the guards came for me, it was time and I felt so weak, I was dying and there was nothing I could do. I could barely walk heading down to the place where I would be killed, I stood on the platform that was erected for public execution, but in the end, only a few would see me die. Michael walked over to me and looked me in the eyes as he smiled but my eyes were red, I had been crying because I was so scared to die. I urinated on myself in front of everyone, I looked down at my feet and whispered, "Please forgive me," it was meant for Michael but I knew Cayden had heard it and I was sorry about what I did to him too. I closed my eyes hoping it to be over quickly as I built the courage to die but I would die in shame and as a traitor to the crown.
Michael did a magical spell, I felt it on my head, I looked at him and started crying, it was a symbol of forgiveness, he had forgiven me and I felt so much better, I had accepted my fate. I watched the sun starting to rise and they made me kneel, I was waiting for my mother to accept me, my father would pay for everything he did to me, and now my son will not know me because of him. I held my baby's picture in my shaking hands tightly, I couldn't hold back the tears, and said, "Do it now, please," I closed my eyes, I felt Cayden at my back and I knew this was it, I closed my eyes and the gun went off. Drax took the shot that would have killed me and I swore I was dead until Drax screamed, "s**t, that hurts, what the f**k, Cayden," everyone looked at Drax. Michael walked to Drax and said, "Hold still," pulling the bullet out of his rib cage where it ended up.
He looked at Cayden screaming in pain, and said, "You are lucky that I had to save her because I'm hungry right about now, you f*****g annoying Fairy!!" Michael snickered and started to sing to him to soothe him, it helped with his bloodlust if I remember correctly, he looked at Cayden like he wanted to murder him and Cayden smiled annoying him more. Cayden said, "The bullet wasn't for you, you should have linked me," he said, "She would be dead if I did," Michael said, "You would just have to bring her back, you lap dog, now what is the reason that you saved her?" I was kneeling in shock listening to the conversation because I wanted to know why they changed their mind at the last minute. After Drax healed, he picked me up and said, "Her mate is here for her, Aidan made a deal for the dark witch."
I was confused and he looked at me and said, "You are Queen of the underworld, Princess," before I passed out from the shock. I woke up in a soft big bed that had silk sheets, they were wine red and a beautiful scent was in the room, the lamp was dimmed and the fireplace was lit. I saw food on what appeared to be golden plates and cups, the cutlery had unique markings on them, I lifted the cover and saw steak dinner, I was confused and then my memory came back. Drax said that I was mated to the Demon King and I jumped up not knowing what to expect. However, my stomach rumbled and I decided to eat, I got up and I was wearing a golden silk gown and I was shocked that someone cleaned me up hoping it wasn't my mate because I had needed a shower. I explored the big room and opened a door that led to the outside balcony, it was huge with furniture.
I was shocked at the scenery, it wasn't what I had expected, there was a waterfall in the distance that looked like fire and then I felt a presence behind me saying, "It's beautiful, isn't it?" My n*****s perked up, I turned around to see a very handsome man, he had tattoos on his arm and a symbol on his chest and I asked, "What's that?" Not looking into his face, he said, "It's the crest of royalty," I looked up into his eyes and the bond connected. He was my mate and I smiled, he asked, "Can I kiss you?" I stared at his fire-red eyes and nodded for him to go ahead, when our lips touched, it felt like fireworks going off. I couldn't believe after hurting Michael, I had a second chance mate, I didn't think I deserved one, I was in a room for months awaiting death. I told him about what happened to me and how I ended up in this predicament, he listened without judgment, he said that he knew the basics but wanted to hear my version of the story.
I cried because I wouldn't be able to see my son and he said, "I made a deal with Cayden, you will get a picture on his birthday every year until you have done your time and he will know about you," I hugged him, happy at the news, how little it was. He took me on a tour around the Palace and although we made out a bit, we didn't mate, we just talked about getting to know each other, and then we fell asleep in each other arms. I woke up smelling his musk scent mixed with something sweet, I couldn't think of what it was and he pulled me closer and said, "Good Morning, my love?" His voice sang out to me, I felt the tingles of our bond, it felt fiery but I knew we needed to get to know each other before we mate. I wanted to do things differently, this was a fresh start for me, and one day, I will be able to see my son.

I was awake for a while inhaling her scent, she was finally here with me, the one I was told about, her unique purple eyes were a dead giveaway. I would have found her a long time ago if I had thought to go to Faeora, demons are never mated to Fae, mostly those who are compatible with darkness which is Vampires and although the Vampires hate demons, they are usually the best to mate with because they can cross over to the Underworld easily without marks or invitation. Demons mate with humans, witches, and other things close to Vampires and Dark Angels, however, Dark Angels could mate with anyone and since I have kids with, Connie, maybe, wolves were thrown in there along the way. However, I take into consideration that Connie was a special omega and her husband knew it, Aidan was protecting her and keeping her identity under wraps for her safety.
After Kaitlyn woke up, she took a shower and I had breakfast prepared, Dawn and the others wanted to meet her and I told them, "Make it a dinner and give us time to hang out." My parents were happy probably planning the wedding and I smiled, Kaitlyn smiled at me and we held hands feeling the bond, we had breakfast together with the help who bowed to her. She smiled and after we headed to town so she could get anything more her style, I could see news traveling fast about me finding a Queen. Sol appeared with Haru at his back and I frowned, he asked, "Aren't you going to introduce us, brother?" I mind-linked him, "Couldn't you wait for the dinner tonight, jackass?" He smiled kissing her hand and bowing saying, "Your Majesty." Kaitlyn didn't mind as I heard her in my head saying, "It's sweet that your family can't wait for later," I knew then we were compatible and I loved it.
