Chapter 17: Special Night

Four Years Later

Night of the Ball

Since returning home, it had not been easy for me, I thought about my mistakes and how my father had taken my happiness away. I loved Prince Michael with all my heart but I couldn't be with him my father made sure of that, Michael has always been different in the eyes of the Elders, he was more assertive than Cayden and everyone preferred to deal with Cayden. I was initially scared to return home knowing the trouble I caused with Michael, he was never home always doing business for Cayden and Cayden also tried to be nice to me despite what happened between us. I love my father but I hated going anywhere with him because he would find some way to belittle me although I tried so much to please him, he was my only family since my mom died in childbirth. I hated how he treated me sometimes but where would I go? He would cut me off and leave me out in the cold.

Michael had returned home from his long trip and I couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like if we did get to mate and have our daughter, she should be about five now. I hope whoever adopts her, gives her a great life and she doesn't fall into the clutches of King Roman's lackeys, young maidens are going missing and rumor has it, he is selling them into slavery, mostly s*x slavery. He looked at me furiously before smiling and we left for Valmore Enterprises, I felt uneasy and thought I was being watched, I felt out of place but I put on the smile my father wanted. There were a lot of fresh faces here and I decided for once to let go and have a good time, my father kept watch to make sure I did nothing that would humiliate him. Later in the night, things went wrong and Valmores were not who they seemed to be. There was something odd about Alpha Ares but I couldn't quite put my finger on it, everyone knew then they were powerful and even I was intrigued. However, when we got back to the Palace news of King Cayden being in an accident spread, he was badly injured and Michael was also in the hospital. I was worried but not allowed to see him and as the weeks passed, my dad let me know that it was time to get my crown as Cayden was not mating, Lady Allison, anymore, and deep down, I knew, he had something to do with it.

Tennison Valmore linked me in the sneaky link, "Hey stranger, the one who hasn't shown his face, you should show up tonight and introduce yourself." I smiled and said, "I will be there," I got up to get ready, I had been a little depressed since Lylac and I had an argument and she moved out. I miss her, I would have gone after her but since the Seer told me about a future mate, I started to feel different and she sensed it, it has been a problem for us lately. Now she wanted to mate me and I wasn't ready because I believed my mate was out there in Ravena. I accepted the invitation because I felt I should look for her, Balthazar was my plus one, and we headed to the surface. The paparazzi and reporters were out front, we walked the red carpet but I was glad no one really cared who I was because I didn't make it known, I saw Dragu as I walked in and he nodded his head in acknowledgment.

He knew who I was and was grateful he didn't tell the Supremes, I was going to meet them tonight but felt off like something was about to happen. I told Balthazar I was going out back for a smoke, and ended up in an alleyway where a man was trying to assault a woman. I grabbed him and snapped his neck, she looked at me, looking relieved, and said, "He was my husband," I smiled saying, "Crappy husband." I mind-linked Balthazar, "I got an issue, keep me posted, I will be late," I picked her up and took her home. She offered me coffee as I looked at the scratch on my hand from the dead husband and said, "Odd, this should be healing," I cleaned up, and then I felt dizzy. She was dizzy when she asked, "Did he cut you?" I said, "Yes, I need to leave," and before we knew it, we were in bed f*****g each other's brains out.

I woke up in a strange bed, naked and Balthazar was sitting in the corner of the room, he knew how to find me at all times, we were linked and he smiled saying, "You miss a big one, these Supremes are immortal, Sam." He showed me what he saw at the ball, Drax shot and it didn't kill him, Roman practically shiting in his pants after that and I smiled, I will have to meet them sooner or later. He left the room so I could get dressed when Connie smiled at me and said, "Sorry but he usually does this to get me to sleep with him, I didn't think it would work on you, Lord of the Underworld." I was shocked and asked, "How did you know?" She said I am a wolf, a tracker, I scented it on you, your aura was strong, plus, your demon took over last night and rocked my world, I think, it's still fuzzy." I gave her my card and said, "Call me, if you need anything," kissing her forehead.

I went home and ended up at Lylac's door, I wanted us to be together again but left leaving that chapter closed since I slept with someone. Balthazar went back to work and I heard Marion say, "Cayden is in a coma, Dominic, and Michael is down, Roman was an ass but this was something else." I mind-link her to keep me posted, Tennison Valmore said, "We still need to meet, unknown one," I smiled acknowledging it. Devon linked me about the souls crossing over, it would seem there was a bloodbath at a particular location last night and I smiled knowing it was the Supremes cleaning house. Dawn wasn't home, she was in Ravena with Prince Allan and I wondered what happened behind the scenes at the ball.

Four Months Later

I heard about what happened at Alpha Ares Luna's ceremony and now the rumors are spreading, Marion got her revenge when Erik died and I was glad for her. I knew about that challenge that Roman set up because of his jealousy and I was attending. I was brought out of my thoughts feeling a hand go around me from behind and a kiss on my back, I said, "Don't start something you can finish little wolf," as my d**k jumped in anticipation and we ended up in bed again.
