Chapter 19 – Friends and Comrades

The Nightbeasts are born to this world during the Dark Wars freely annihilating the living things. Laying waste to the cursed lands.

Just like how the Shards of Creation appeared in the world, so does the Nightbeasts. No one knows what's the reason for them being born nor what causes them to appear suddenly.

Some say it's the darkness of all living things. The shadow that looms in the heart of the despairing souls.

They've discovered much more sinister about the Nightbeasts. There are various kinds of Nightbeast from lands, seas, and skies appearing only during nighttime.

But there's a much more atrocious abomination that is stronger than any monster. A Nightbeast that its very name brings utter mystery, the Dark Entity, bringer of doom and destruction.

These monsters were something that even the Heavenly Heroes fear. The gallant heroes traveled across the world to hunt down every last one of them. It took the heroes years for the Dark Entity to completely be erased in history.

However, the spawn of darkness once again appeared. Laken and his party are trying to bring down a Dark Entity they've encountered in the Frostsiege Valley.

Laken desperately tried to stand after the Nightbeast flung him to the walls of the valley. He coughs blood on the process. Trying to seize the sword that was separated to him when the beast attacked his behind.

The worried Eirisse leaped through the right passage in order to reach Laken. The moment she landed, her Metamorphosis is already gone. The frail Eirisse drove over as she doesn't know what to do.

The Dark Entity began to move. Eirisse had no choice but to sprint towards where Laken was laying, however, she did not expect the thing he just did.

“Run now!” Laken exclaimed and he removed the silver choker in his neck. Throwing it to Eirisse as she catches it.

The azure flames grew stronger. The sword that was parted from him flew towards him as he commanded. The Bloodless Revenant is once again about to lay waste to his vicinity.

“Laken!” The voice of Luciella could no longer reach the madman he became.

The blue flames continually burned his right arm to his shoulder, yet the kindness of the flames couldn't even melt the ice wall of the valley.

“Repair successfully finished. Entering battle mode.” Xenon said in a monotonic tone.

His auto repair has now completed. His shield and shoulder that was damaged are as good as new. He comes back to the battle to defend the rest of his party.

“Back off Eirisse, you too Luciella, his Metamorphosis is stronger than I had last seen it. Maybe because he's fighting the Nightbeast that caused suffering to the world... The heat of fury in his heart fuels the kind azure flame that's burning his soul away.” Xenon told in sorrow.

He prepared the shield creating two to three layers of photon barrier to not perform the same mistake again.

The enraged Laken flashes to the headless Dark Entity. Slashing all of its tentacles without letting it regenerate nor produce more limbs by scraping the blade of his sword to the Nightbeast's back down to the lower posterior.

The Dark Entity now's merely a blind monster that despairingly seeks for life. The furious Laken now stands atop the peak of the Nightbeast where he beheaded it.

He accumulated much more azure flames into his sword. He prayed for the beast since it doesn't have any voice to scream with.

“Through the star's wishes no prayers, bring forth the flames of the skies: Heaven's Fall!” Laken exclaimed the emotions of his heart.

With all the might of Laken's wrath. He has smitten the Dark Entity with everything he has.

Down from the neck to its core. Laken gallantly came down splitting the Nightbeast in half, finally meeting its demise.

The Dark Entity vanished into the crystallized shadow of vapor. Along with the fog that's causing trouble onto the travelers.

Undoubtedly, the victory is at their palms. The beautiful frozen glaciers of the valley have been emphasized.

The crystal-clear river and the glinting frozen trails spell majestic view that only you can see once you've conquered the harsh snowstorm of the Frostsiege Valley.

A much bigger problem is at hand, Laken's Revenant Metamorphosis hasn't still quelled.

“I will buy you time until he's out of Revenant Metamorphosis, get out now!” Xenon bravely declared. Facing him head-on to protect his comrades.

Xenon did not expect that Luciella jut casually walks towards him carrying the silver choker Eirisse had as she smiles truthfully, “No, don't get near him!” Xenon exclaimed trying to stop her when Eirisse told him, “Trust in Luciella's ability.” They are about to witness a miracle only Luciella could make true.

Laken gripped the handle of his sword. Severing for her head when he halted mid-strike. The brave Luciella may be afraid to die, but she'd rather sacrificed herself than to see her comrades suffers in anguish.

“You did your best, Laken. There's nothing more to be worried about.” Just as the gentle touch of Luciella, so does the voice of her surely stirred Laken's heart.

The cold winter never ceases to bring frost. Luciella hugged the agonizing Laken tighter warming him up.

Clutching his cloak. Calming his feelings until the blue flames gradually fade away. Lifting the Revenant's Metamorphosis without satisfying the required desire.

Eirisse witnessed the miracle she performed together with Xenon. They were both mesmerized by guiding light Luciella ushered as she cleanses the pain and suffering Laken had, healing his right arm on the process.

“Changing attribute: passionate... such warmth, I now understand what you guys are talking about in the inn. I think she's the one...” Xenon told.

They immediately help since they can't let a frail half-elf lady carry Laken's heavy shoulders.

“You saved me again Luciella. I can't thank you properly last time... I'm so pathetic.” Laken covered her face in anxiety. Thanks to Luciella's healing he could move and walk just fine.

“No... we did this together aren't we?” Luciella responded.

Her bright smile made Laken chuckled, “Yeah, right.” He reacted patting her head. He caresses her silky blonde hair just the way Luciella likes it.

The old man Dunkan also arrives at the scene. He is currently crying non-stop, “I can't believe your party was able to defeat that horrible monster! I can't thank you enough for avenging my comrades...” The old man stops weeping. He realizes he must not look pitiful.

“We defeated the Nightbeast because of the quest, not to avenge. That's how we were able to conquer our fear by leaning on our friends.” Laken told to them.

“You're right, we must go back now. I promise I will cook the best meat we have in the store when we go back!” The old man Dunkan said in glee. He was so elated that the great obstacle in his village now is gone.

The greedy Xenon and somewhat hungry Eirisse heard something that could make the chief regret his words, “Hey, make sure you have enough food, or else I might go hibernate.” Xenon clanked his abdomen.

“Of course, I'm sure a mechanoid like you will like our special shaved ice,” Dunkan laughed.

“Wh-What about deer's blood...?” Eirisse meekly asked.

The confused Dunkan is having a hard time thinking why the woman who's rude and impolite is now acting like a proper lady who modestly asks for things.

“I'm not sure dear but I will ask my wife if we had one,” Dunkan replied.

That makes Eirisse sad for a reason, “Hey, please don't give that monster any kind of blood.” Xenon blatantly said but Eirisse gracefully and secretly kneed his abdomen.

Although she regretted it since Xenon's body is covered in metallic armor, she only hurt herself.

Luciella still couldn't forget the way Laken address her as a friend. Luciella's always alone when she's just a child because of her half-elf uniqueness. No one wanted to befriend her, not even her sisters.

That's why when Laken considered her as a friend, she's so happy and ecstatic to feel he felt that way. She secretly giggles to herself just remembering his voice. The bond of their relationships grows stronger as time goes by.

The party is now going back to the Grayfrost Village to tell Zarah the success and completion of the quest so they can continue forward to their next purpose.
