Lydia.
How about we talked about the over charge from popular brand designers. Of course, it is certain that their materials were quality, yet, how could I be buying just a shirt from Hermes for a whole $1600. Just one plain black silk long sleeved shirt, yet, here I was picking it out with Jasmine.
“Wow, what about this? It’s sooo beautiful,” Jasmine said, with my gaze turned to her in an unbelievably stare, while she pointed at a leather skirt she saw on the rack of the store.
“For real Jaz? You’re going to end up drying my accounts just for today. I told you we should just get the clothes at a regular store.” I said to Jasmine. Jasmine paused her movements as she stared, before her lips began to micmic my words and I was left stunned.
“For Gods sake Lydia, spend your money on yourself with quality things. You work so hard, have multiple jobs in just a day and now that you’re beginning to see a hell lot of profit from it, you don’t want to take care of yourself?” Jasmine asked me, whereas I went shut.
“I didn’t say that, I just think it’s over priced…”
“It’s overpriced cause it’s designers duh!” Jasmine rolled her eyes and I only scoffed in amusement. “Fine we’re not like the billionaires whom come here everyday of their lives and spend millions on their clothes, yet, once in a while Lee, as long as we are not starving, we also deserve treatments like this, even if we do know it is overpriced.” Jasmine added and I went silent, whereas her words rang in my ears. Never in my life did I believe I would be able to walk into a designer store like Hermes, and afford even if it’s just one thing from there. Yes, it has always been a dream of mine, a dream which took years of multiple jobs to finally land on one and be able to pay my bills efficiently. And because of how I lived, I was already used to buying clothes at a very cheap rate, which with the right styling, one can make it look good, yet, what Jasmine also said wasn’t false too.
I was beginning to make a good amount of money, and for the first time It felt like my hard work was beginning to pay off, even if I did a kind of job which was foreign to the ears, yet, I wasn’t ashamed of it. I wasn’t ashamed that I was a girlfriend for hire. I didn’t do anything illegal or dirty to make money, as it was my hard work and skill which kept me going.
“Girl, you need to take care of yourself even if it is once in a while. Spoil yourself and be happy about it and well, also spoil me too.” Jaz added as with her last words, I broke out laughing.
“Yes mummy,” I teased Jazmine whereas she also chuckled.
“Good girl and remember I’m always going to be proud of you and the woman you have become, so do not for once feel bad about what you do.” Jasmine said, while an emotional smile took to my lips, as I recalled the first time I thought about going into such business as, a girlfriend for hire. Hell, I had never even heard about it, as all I knew was that I wanted to be an actress and a very good one to be precise.
“I hope this is not just a scheme to get you to add your stuffs to mine?” My brows raised in a sly manner at Jasmine, while I faced her.
“Maybe,” Jasmine said and I laughed out.
“If it’s for you, I don’t mind baby,” I told jasmine, whereas her brown cheeks raised as I could tell she was blushing at my words to her, and indeed it was one which I meant, for jasmine was someone whom I could literally give anything for, whereas she had done the same for me too. Jasmine and I continued to shop, where’s we picked and returned till we got the clothes of our choice.
“Holy bloody Mary!” My gaze went to Jasmine instantly at her words, as for instead of her gaze to be with mine, it was elsewhere I didn’t know about. “I think my eyes just got blind,” Jasmine added.
“What is it?” I asked her, whereas I tried to notice what it was she looked at, yet, I found nothing.
“Can’t you see him?” Jasmine asked me and my brows went furrowed.
“See who Jaz?” I turned again.
“A very handsome man over there,” Jasmine said.
“Who are…” My words sticked to my throat, when I saw a man walk by the men section, for when he faced our direction to select from a rack, I could now tell the reason as to why Jasmine was left stunned. He had a Mohican cut and a scythe shaped eyebrows with well defined cheekbones that everything in him screamed masculine along with the black suit he wore. In fact, he was handsome and a typical spec, yet, I couldn’t quite place why I felt his face seemed familiar.
“Let’s checkout.” My gaze turned back at Jasmine.
“What…”
“Let’s checkout now Lee, it looks like he’s also checking out too.” Jasmine said, as she didn’t give me more room to disapprove her words, before she began to walk in front me and I had to follow, until we got to the counter to pay. The man seemed to have reached the counter before us, nevertheless were both at the counter and being attended by different staffs. My gaze went back to him, as I couldn’t quite figure out while I thought he was familiar, for when his eyes locked with mine, so did I feel some kind of tingles below my abdomen. Stunning to me, his gaze seemed to linger with my own, as it was evident to tell that there was something he realized based on the slight furrow of his brows, nevertheless he took his gaze away as I did the same.
Jasmine on the other hand as usual composed herself, as even if she did find the man attractive, she definitely didn’t show it extremely, one thing which I loved about her, for she was never one to pour herself to a man. In total, our bill was $2,550, for when they debited it from my card, a hard gulp went down my throat at the high amount I was going to face. I don’t think I was ever going to get used to the feeling, as long as it was my money.
We walked out of the store before the man we found attractive, while my gaze turned to Jasmine having a laughter filled in it, whereas Jasmine’s own held a frown.
“What? Why are you frowning?” I asked her, whereas my gut knew what her response would be.
“I thought he would have offered to pay our bill too,” Jasmine said and i bursted out in laughter.
“Sure how nice that would have been, yet, you can’t be angry at him, it’s his money.” I said still with chuckles escaping my lips.
“And so what? I’m no longer attracted to him anymore.” Jasmine added, all while I continued to chuckle.
“Just because of…”
“Excuse me,” My words cut short, and so did my attention turn away from Jasmine to the voice which we heard from behind, as to both our stun, it was the man from the Hermes store. “My apologies for stopping you, however I couldn’t beat the fact that you seemed familiar to me,” He said, whereas my gaze furrowed while I turned to Jasmine still with a perplexed gaze, of if he was referring to me or Jasmine.
“You mean me?” I asked him.
“Yes you. Have I perhaps seen you somewhere?” He asked and at that moment the same question seemed familiar to me. Was it because it was typical line these days?
“You do look familiar to me too, yet, I also can’t quite figure out where,” I said while I stared back at his eyes, which got me to notice the color of them. Blue. A favorite color of mine.
“Do you work at The coffee club?” He asked and my gaze went wide.
“No, but I used to.” I said with an amused stare.
“Lydia, am I right?” He added and my stun only widened, whereas when I turned to face Jazmine, she also had a shocking stare.
“Yes,” I chuckled in amusement. “I’m sorry, I don’t think I recognize you yet.” I said.
“That is because, I didn’t introduce myself the day we met. The day we met, you said it was your last day at the coffee club.” He told me, as instantly my gaze widened in realization and I recalled just how I recognized him.
“Oh my…I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you earlier.” I said with a smile covering my lips all through, as o recognized him fully.
“It’s fine, like I said I didn’t introduce myself the other day. I’m Christian,” The man held out his hand to me, as my gaze stayed stunned and pleased at the same time, for when I took his hand in mine, so did the disturbing feeling below my abdomen strengthened.
