Chapter 9-1

3029 Words

Junie slid onto a red vinyl stool at Cuppa Jo’s. She wasn’t there to eat, even though she was on her lunch break. When she called out to Jo, her friend turned around. “Got a minute?” Junie had come at a slow time on purpose. She needed to mend the chilly situation with Jo, especially if the offer on the house across the street from her was accepted. “Okay.” Jo motioned to another woman behind the counter that she was taking a break. “Let’s take that booth.” Junie followed her across the black-and-white tiled floor. The vintage diner had become her local hangout, and she’d been coming to the Friday night local jam sessions. She often sat with Blue and his friends, but she hadn’t thought anything about it until he asked her out. After they sat down, Jo laced her fingers on the tabletop.
