After dinner with their mother and grandmother, Junie shared the dishwashing and drying with her sister. As she finished the last of the dishes, she peered from the kitchen window. “Looks like a full moon out tonight. The waves should be great.” She bumped her sister’s hip. “Want to walk on the beach?” “I don’t know,” Maileah said. Something was bothering Maileah, Junie could tell. “Well, I do. It will do you good. Isn’t that what you used to tell me?” “If I hear you say that one more time…” “Let’s go.” Junie popped her with a dishtowel. “Hey, stop that.” “Make me,” Junie said, laughing.
