“It seems anti-climactic. But good riddance.” April turned back to the building, refocusing on the task at hand. Even though there had been many good times, the past was behind her now. Her future was here on Crown Island, and it would be what she would make of it. She wished the same for her daughters, too. “Let’s do this,” April said, giving Deb a high-five. By noon, April was invigorated by the progress Deb’s team was making. The small, old windows in the front were gone, and the crew was busy enlarging the opening and repairing the existing wooden frame that was now exposed. Deb had suggested sliding, pocket-style doors that would open the entire space to the sidewalk to draw in visitors.
