April folded the blue canvas sleeper sofa she’d bought for her mother by pressing down on the frame and sliding it back into position. With Maileah in the guest room and Junie in April’s old room, they were all crammed into Ella’s bungalow on Beach View Lane. As she replaced the cushions, she smiled in satisfaction. She loved her children and her mother, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Maileah and Junie were currently arguing in the bathroom, just as they had as children.
