Change of heart

I woke up to the smell of burnt eggs filling in the air. I snap my eyes open seeing Sky was trying to cook and that made me groan very loudly. "Sky, how many times do I have to tell you that you can't cook!" I yelled at her. "Until the pigs start flying!" She yells back at me and I take the cover away from me tossing it to the side to go help her. The phone was broken and I made sure it was broken by throwing it again at the wall last night. Noel made me so pissed last night calling me a b***h. Am I a b***h for wanting to see him? I don't think so. I made sure to throw it away without Sky noticing. I didn't want to deal with Noel anymore, I'm done with this back and forth bickering, I'm over with him, probably f*****g other girls and I'm just done with everything that comes out his mouth. He's a freaking asshole with so much bullshit behind him. I can't lie to you though I have feelings for him, and that's where I need to stop it and move on. "I thought I was doing great." Sky said, getting upset as we toss the burnt scrambled eggs in the trash. I chuckled, seeing her reaction. "Why is it now you learning how to cook Sky?" "I never had someone to teach me, you know. Plus, the guys I dated knew how to cook already so I never paid attention." Sky said shrugging her shoulder. I nod my head getting fresh ingredients out the fridge to start cooking breakfast. "What about you, how did you learn how to cook?" She asks me. "My mother." I said trying to end the conversation. I didn't feel like talking about my family, especially since the holidays were coming up. Sky got the picture and she walked away, heading inside the bathroom. A few seconds later I heard the shower running. I glance over to the clock to see it was thirty minutes till eleven. My mind went back to last night events since I was bored cooking. Eli basically confessed his feelings towards me with no hesitation and even kissed me. If I told you I didn't like the kiss, then God would strike me down fast with lightning. I liked it, no I enjoyed the kiss he gave me. Am I wrong for liking it? I just wish it was Noel instead of Eli so I won't feel bad about it. Then again, if what Eli said is true, then Noel has been going behind my back and having fun with other girls instead of me. What do I do in a time like this? How do I handle a guy like Noel? "That smells so good Sunset what are you making?" Sky voices fills my ear as she enters the kitchen with clothes on. I didn't even notice her around me. "I'm making scrambled eggs that you burnt, sausage, bacon, pancakes for you and French toast for me." I tell her as she comes to stand next to me watching my actions. She looks to be in her thoughts as her facial expressions keep changing. "You know it's not too late to learn how to cook." I begin the conversation. "It's not that. The holidays are approaching and I miss home." I didn't expect her to say that. "I know how you feel. I thought you can get out this place since you didn't get force into the business." "I could leave, but where to?" "Didn't you say home?" I stared back at her making sure she was okay. "Yeah, but when I said home, I meant when things were great before the nightmare happen." I form my mouth to the letter o understanding what she meant. "Well why don't you make a new home." I told her and she looks to be in thoughts. "I don't know I just don't want someone else taking over and going crazy and then things get out of hands you know. You can kind of say this place had grown on me." I nod my head. "Can't you take care of business outside of this underground place?" Her phone begins to ring out of nowhere and that's our cue that our conversation is now over. I finish the food and place Sky food in a container since I already know she will be leaving after her phone conversation like she always does. "Okay, I'll be right there." She hangs up the phone and opens her mouth to tell me she's leaving, but I cut her off by handing her the container and telling her to have a nice day. She smiles back at me and grabs her purse rushing out the door as I was now filled with silence. I walk over to the couch deciding to watch television as I eat my breakfast. It was relaxing to say I enjoyed the comfort of myself. A knock on the door has me out of my comfort zone and I stand walking to the door to look through the peep hole. "Hey Sunset." An old lady dressed in a mail man uniform greets me. "Hey love." "You got a package." She hands me the package and I take the package thanking her as she moves on to the next door. I shut the door and head to the couch wondering what Noel sent me now. I open the brown small package, making sure I don't rip anything and my facial expression drops as I see it's a phone. I sigh, throwing the box on my bed. Not again, I tell myself as I turn my attention to the television watching my show. Another knock after thirty minutes has me annoyed, ignoring the person I continue to watch my show until the person decides to walk right in using a key. Fear is shown in my eyes until I meet face to face with Noel. No expression is placed on my face. Noel looks good as always as he finally got a haircut, and the clothes he's wearing makes him look like a celebrity with all that jewelry he got on him. We both just stare at each other daring one of us to look away. He doesn't look too happy, then again so am I. "What do you want Noel?" I turn away from him and sit back on the couch. Pretending to watch my show. "I brought you another phone..." "I don't want it. Matter of fact, you can take everything you gave me and yourself and leave." I said way to calm. He's probably not going to take me seriously since I'm not yelling or screaming at him. He doesn't say anything, just walks over in front of the television blocking my view. I sigh deeply. "I'm sorry ma." He says to me. "I'm sorry for believing you." "Are you serious right now? I came down here to see you and talk..." "After you called me a b***h. Why? Because I ask you when can we hang out after three months." "I told you that..." "That you had to wait for business to calm down and police to disappear, but I don't think I want this anymore." "So what are you trying to say?" "We supposed to be together Noel. Why am I still here shaking my ass in front of a bunch of niggas?" "Once people know..." "Let them people know Noel." I said raising my hands up in the air. I was getting frustrated with him. "I want to be with you. I want to wake up next to you and kiss you whenever I want and help you when you're down and pick you up when you fall. I'm trying to deal with your business and crap, but it seems like you don't want me in your life as you still haven't taken me out of here." I said to him as I stood up watching him as he sighs. "I do ma." He said, glancing at me. I shake my head side to side. "No, I'm done with you. If you don't take me from this place, then forget us being together." I tell him. He looks at me as if I had grown two heads. "No." "Yes." "What's gotten you like this? Someone talking in your head?" When he says that my mind rush to the events of Eli and I argument. Yes, Eli gotten into my head, and all I can think about is proving Eli wrong and showing him that Noel and I are actually together. "Did someone talk to you?" He questions me again. "No, I'm just tired of everything." "So what you want to do then?" "I want to leave this place and start a life of my own without people wanting to control me." "You want a life of your own without me?" "Noel, I just want to have a life where I can finally live my dreams and be happy that's all." "Okay." I'm taken back from what he says and I have to ask him again to make sure. "You're going to take me out of here?" "Yes." "What's the catch?" "There is no catch. You been through a lot and its time I do something for you." "Okay, so what's next?" "I'm going to find a place for you to live, I have to call my connect to make a new identity for you." "Noel, please don't play with my emotions like this..." "I'm not. Take it as a I'm sorry present. Here type in the new name you want and information so I can call my connect later." He hands me the phone where the screen opens up to a memo pad. I type in the name that I want and some information that is probably needed. I also type in that I want my degree I earn in this new name so I won't have a problem when it came down to looking for a new job in the future. I hand the phone back to him and he nods placing the phone in his pocket. "I appreciate this Noel." I tell him as he continues to stare at me not saying anything. The atmosphere gets a little uncomfortable as he doesn't say anything. He walks over to me closing the distance and leaning his head down, taking a kiss from my lips. After three months I almost forgot how his lips felt like on mine. "I still want you." He whispers to me. Right before I was about to answer his phone rings and I step back letting him answer his phone. He gives me a sorry look and answer it after the third ring. I don't get upset by this as I've gotten used to it when Sky does this. He hangs up the phone and gives me a small smile. "You got to go, huh?" He nods his head. "That phone I got you open it up and my number should be save in, if not I'll call or text you later." He gives a kiss on my forehead before walking out the door.
