Chapter Thirty Seven:
The project.
—
I HAVE LIVED my whole life with so much judgment.
From a very young age, other people bullied me in school all because my grandfather was flourishing in his field of industry. A lot of people have admired him and a lot of people have despised him. There were people who considered him as an ally, and there were people who considered him as an enemy.
There was no in between.
Moreover, it doesn’t stop from that alone. Viktor Luciano doesn’t bear all the scrutiny from a lot of people. For everyone under his lineage is considered as an enemy—a rival. No matter how young we are, no matter our gender; we were targeted as a competition.
All because Luciano Corporation is at its peak for the past fifteen years.
My grandfather set the bars too high when it comes to programming, innovating, and developing software based on artificial intelligence. There were some who tried to mimic his ways—tried to compete with their own innovations, but Luciano Corporation was the one who always stood out the most. They are at the top, and a lot of companies partnered with them for the softwares, programs, and products that they’ve developed—those that they deemed fit to their own company as well.
Due to this, everyone in the company, most especially the founder’s relatives, were a threat to other companies in the same industry. Others would look at us with judging eyes that came with whispers on how we’re depicted as an opponent.
It was absurd if you asked me—especially targeting me and Maxwell when we were younger. It was an awful experience. I thought that when I get to become an employee of Luciano Corporation, the judgment from other people will vanish.
But I was proven wrong.
For all people were greedy.
It didn’t matter if I entered the company due to my skills and capabilities alone. It didn’t matter if I was the granddaughter of the founder. It didn’t matter if I was a friend or a foe. It didn’t matter if I was family and blood.
Greedy people will always drag me down no matter how kind and humble I can be. Trust no one. You are your only ally. I learned all of this in the hard way which is why it stuck to me the most.
There’s an inkling inside of me that wanted to prove everyone that all of their judgments about us were wrong—that we shouldn’t be looked down upon just because we were thriving in the industry.
“So what do you think?”
