Chapter Thirty Nine:
Everything turned into a mess.
—
THE DAY WAS supposed to be normal.
— but then again, nothing seemed normal in this family of mine.
It was barely over twenty-five degrees, which made it completely average Monday afternoon. For someone with my control issues and need for continuity, it was perfect. I've been living in this country long enough to be aware that the sun mostly never visits us— seemingly as though it hated the very core of the land. That being said, I do love the comfort of the sun every now and then. For someone from Everdeen, it absolutely felt like home to me.
Although, my feelings began to waver due to the scene unraveling before me.
“What is this, Viktor?” Gregory spat, snatching harshly the paper in Warren’s hands. He looked livid—veins almost popping out of his temple and neck. I could definitely feel that he might throw hands at any passing seconds.
Viktor let out an amused chuckle. “Are you not listening, Greg? It’s a share agreement,” He stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
“Yes, I could see that… but why?”
“The question is, ‘why not?’” My grandfather huffed. “It’s my company, Greg. I can do whatever I want with it.”
“B-but… This is atrocious!” Gregory barked loudly.
“Maybe if you did well in the game, you could’ve won the share.” Viktor spoke, voice stern. It echoed through the living room, making us flinch. But Gregory doesn’t care.
“Callahan’s aren’t even part of the family! I’m legitimately part of the family. I’m your f*****g brother! You should’ve given this to me!” Gregory yelled, waving the piece of paper in his hand aggressively.
