The large apartment building, appearing more as a skyscraper better fit for the skyline of New York City, had stood before me in the sight of more of a prison than that of a serene residence. And yet, the moment the car made its rest on the edge of the curb, Shane and my fingers remained interlaced as we walked through the lobby and rode the elevator in complete silence as we were both keeping our nerves and uncertainties reserved behind faux smiles of confidence as we inched closer and closer to that apartment door.
