Chapter Twelve

1001 Words
Wyatt Drink in hand I settled myself into the chair at my desk. Leaning back I watched the bank of monitors. Tonight had been exhausting. Keeping up the pretence that the woman I wanted so badly my bones ached wasn’t the daughter of one of my friends was tiring to say the least. And Reapers jokes just made it worse. If only he knew it was his darling Liv I wanted to f**k into the middle of next week. If only he knew. A flash of navy blue caught my attention and the drink nearly slipped from my fingers. It couldn’t be. Leaning forward I studied the screen. My heart thundering in my chest. It couldn’t be. But it was. Even after I had told her not to come here again , here she was. And she wasn’t alone. My eyes narrowed. Suzie on one side of her, her made up face open and laughing and on the other side. Mason. Anger boiled in my gut. Of course Suzie would introduce her to f*****g Mason. The cocky siren would have been the first person she would have thought of when she looked at my sweet little mermaid. Shit. When had I started to think of her as mine? She wasn’t mine. And yet I couldn’t help the rage that was engulfing me. Rage that was only amplified as I watched his fingers trailed down her bare arm. Clenching my fist, I watched as she turned to him. Her heart shaped face breaking out into a smile that lit up her face. She liked him. I could see it on her face. And he was the kind of man she should have as a mate. Or even as a bed partner. Olivia was still young. She might not even be looking for a mate right now. It was me that kept going back to to that word. Mate. My beast liked saying it over and over again. Suzie has done well to bring them together, and on any other day I would have praised her for it. But not today. Today I wanted to sack her on the spot. I wanted to rip out Masons windpipe and feed it to him. And then I wanted to f**k Olivia right over this desk and whip her ass red. I wanted to punish and please her in equal measures. Typing out the message on my phone , I summoned Suzie to my office. Watching on the screens as she read the message and excused herself from the table. I needed her to get Olivia out of the club before I did something stupid but it was soon obvious there was s major flaw in my plan. Olivia was now alone with the biggest man w***e in Siren history. And he was wasting no time in marking his territory. A growl tumbled from my lips as his hand landed on her knee. “You wanted to see me Beast?” “What is She doing here?” I didn’t bother with pleasantries as I pointed to the screen. “Olivia, she’s a sweet girl isn’t she. Her and Mason are like a match made in heaven or salt water or wherever those sirens like to do it.” She seemed genuinely pleased with herself. Usually I would agree with her but not today. Not when it was Liv. Not when he was touching what was mine. “What is she doing here?” I asked again, struggling to keep the anger out of my voice. Suzie sensed it instantly. “Did I do something wrong Beast? Is she barred or something.” “I don’t want her here and I don’t want his filthy paws all over her.” She blinked at me in surprise. “I’m sorry Beast, she came in looking to meet some new interesting people. I didn’t realise you had already claimed her.” I growled. “I haven’t claimed her, don’t be stupid.” I trailed off my eyes on the screen. At the image of beautiful , sweet Olivia linking her arm through Masons. Were they going to leave with each other? I was moving without even thinking about it, banging out of the office and down the stairs just as they reached the front door. Olivia was laughing. Laughing at something Mason was whispering in her ear and the air was thick with the stench of their arousal for each other. “Liv.” My voice was a bark and she turned to me with wide eyes. “Mason.” I nodded to him politely, now I was here in front of them I didn’t have a plan. What the hell was I going to say. “Beast.” He nodded back, but his eyes darted between us. A frown marring his handsome features. “Hi Wyatt.” She sounded so small, a blush creeping up her cheeks. “You two know each other?” Masons hand squeezed her hip possesively and I wanted to rip it off. How dare he touch what was mine. “She’s Reapers daughter.” I said it evenly. Knowing that her fathers name would have the desired effect. Masons hand loosened. “Reapers daughter huh?” “Yeah, I was just with him tonight. Think I owe it to him to make sure his precious little girl gets home safe.” Casually I leaned up against the wall, my arms crossed. Mason grinned slowly, before brushing his lips over her cheek. “I’ll ring you tomorrow ok?” “Ok.” She gave him another dazzling smile. “I look forward to it.” My frown deepened. She would look forward to it? He would ring her? Over my dead body would this go any further.
