Wyatt
“What’s going on with you?” Requiem voice broke through my day dream. And I snapped my attention back to the table. And the men say around it.
I really did have to be more careful with my thoughts when Requiem was sat right next to me. My diluted dragon blood made it harder for him to pluck thoughts out of my head but it wouldn’t be impossible. Especially if I was thinking hard enough.
“Nothing.” I shook my head.
Reaper laughed. And guiltily I looked at him. What would he say I he knew it was his previous daughter I was day dreaming about. What would he do if he knew all the dirty things I wanted to do with her body.
“I know that look.” Ben chimed in from across the table. “I remember Roman getting it all the time.”
Romans head snapped up from his phone and his face broke into a grin. “What look?”
“The one you wore before you sealed the deal with Rory.” Ben laughed. And the table erupted into chuckles. They were all here tonight. My friends.
“When she turned up at the club with Byron.” Ben carried on even though Byron and Roman both growled at him.
“Don’t bring up that shit.” Byron suddenly looked nervous. It may have been years ago but there was still bad blood there. Even if Byron had later found his true mate with Reapers sister , it still wasn’t a topic either wolf at the table liked to bring up.
“You saying Wyatt has met a girl?” Romans’ eyes widened.
“He meets lots of girls, he has s*x clubs.” Reapers laugh was loud and I blinked at him in surprise. “I bet girls throw themselves at him all the time.”
I swallowed hard. “Sometimes.” I admitted. Your daughter being one of them I added silently and now I can’t get her out of my body.
“He’s not denying it.” Byron added.
“Who is she?” Requiem was leaning forward, the table grumbling under his weight.
“She’s … no one.” Too late I realised my mistake.
Reaper and requiem fell about laughing. “She is most definitely someone. Wyatt have you actually met someone you want to spend time with?”
The laughter died , I knew they wanted me to have what they had. They wanted me to be happy and didn’t understand why I would never tie a woman into a life with me. To be childless forever or even worse subjecting a baby to the same hatred and ridicule I had had until I met these people around the table and their mates.
No I wouldn’t do it.
“It’s not like that, it’s…”
“A girl from one of the clubs?”
I growled at Byron , my teeth clashing and he he held up His hands in surrender.
“Easy, not just a girl from the club then.”
Why did I have to go and open my stupid big mouth. Being around people who liked me was making me careless and my desire to bang Olivia until her eyes rolled back in her pretty face was a secret I couldn’t afford to share.
“It’s complicated.”
“Why?” Roman took a sip of his drink. “Relationships aren’t easy Wyatt, just look at us..” he motioned around the table. “We all had to fight for our mates.”
“She’s not my mate.” I snapped back. Why did it always boil down to finding your “fated mates”? “She’s just a girl, a woman.”
“You slept with her yet?” Requiems yellow bird eyes bored into mine and I could feel the brush of his mind against mine.
I slammed my walls up. “Stay our of my head Req.”
He chuckled. “So have you?”
“No its complicated,I told you. She’s younger.”
Reapers head snapped up, and Romans eyes narrowed. “How much younger, s**t. Please don’t tell me…”
“She’s in her twenties ok, mid twenties. She’s not some kid. God what kind of person do you think I am.”
“That’s not young, Mae wasn’t even twenty Two when Requiem claimed her.”Reaper spoke up and Requiem nodded. “So she’s a little younger, you guys pretty much live forever. Everyone is younger than you.”
“It’s just complicated.” I shook my head. “I can’t keep my hands off her anytime we are alone and she wants me as well.”
“Whats the problem then?” Reaper asked. And for a second I stared into his face. “If she likes you and you like her why not see what happens? You are both adults. It’s not anyone else’s business who you date.”
I watched him over the rim of my glass.
He was right of course. But if only he knew it was his daughter I couldn’t keep my hands off. I had a feeling he would change his advise then.
