Chapter Eight

Beast “Plenty more fish in the sea.” Those were the words she had said in parting and I knew they were aimed at me. Who else could they be aimed at. Sure I had been the one to tell her we couldn’t explore the growing attraction between us. We were wrong together, like oil and water , she must see that but to have her totally flippant on it? That stung and I wasn’t even sure why when she was doing exactly what I wanted her to do. Her words made me want to bend her over and spank her ass red. Especially when she kept walking around in that god damn sundress, her hips swaying. The swell of her ass drawing my eyes as it moved under the tiny flowered material. “You look lost in thought Wyatt?” Mae’s voice broke through the day dream. And I glanced over at her, my face breaking into a smile. Mae had always been the one who trusted me fully, Hell I had been the one to bring her and Requiems daughter Fluer into the world. “It’s good to be back.” I admitted and it was the truth. It was nice to be surrounded by real friends. And of course this was where Liv was. Which meant I could watch her from afar without to much suspicion. Unless of course someone caught me checking out her ass. That would cause some problems. But so far my furtive glances hadn’t been seen. “It’s good to have you back, you have been a stranger for too long. Have you been back in town long?” “A few months.” Her face fell, she didn’t look much older, thanks to Requiems mark but the blonde hair was shorter , brushing her chin and the pink streak that was so perfectly Mae was gone. “I’m glad you are here now.” I knew she had wanted to berate me for not coming more often , for not staying in touch but she also knew why I couldn’t. “Me too.” I patted her shoulder, my eyes searching for Liv before I even realised it. I found her easily enough. Laughing in the sunshine , with her hand on a wolfs arm. One of Romans enforcers was looking at her like all his Christmases had come at once. And I could totally understand why. Didn’t mean I didn’t want to rip his throat out though. She wasn’t his. I paused, fingers curling into fists. She wasn’t ours either I reminded myself. She could never be ours. Wyverns like us didn’t get the happily ever after. “Is there any ice?” I was burning , the need to shift and do real violence making my body temperature soar. Mae’s perfectly blonde eyebrow arched but she didn’t ask any questions. “ in the kitchen.” Nodding I headed towards the house, past the gaggle of laughing children and loudly talking adults. The amount of people was almost overwhelming so to find the kitchen deserted was a relief. The cool air of the freezer as I opened it, even more so. “Oh.” Turning slowly, I stared at her. Ours. Mine. “Sorry, mum just sent me in to get some more dip.” Liv suddenly sounded nervous as she made her way around the giant island and I couldn’t drag my eyes away from her. “Plenty more fish in the sea?” I growled it at her as she opened the refrigerator door next to me, leanings in to search the packed shelves for what ever she was looking for. The skirt of her dress flaring out from her hips. “Pardon me?” She turned her face to me when my hand brushed against her hip. It was so wrong but my body didn’t seem to get it. I touched her automatically. She straightened and her cat like eyes widened. “Plenty more fish in the sea is it?” I took a step into her space. Crowding her back against the door. “Wyatt.” “What did you mean by that Liv, or wasn’t it for my benefit?” Reaching up I dragged a finger down her cheek, tracing the line of her long graceful throat. “Wyatt.” It seemed she couldn’t say anything but my name. “I … you can’t keep doing this.” “Doing What?” My fingers dipped lower. The swell of her breasts was right there, in touching distance. I could dip my head and take one into my mouth through her dress. I could suck on it right here and no one would ever know. I could drag the skirt up to her hips and out my hands between her legs. I could make her c*m right here and now on this kitchen with everyone just outside. I shook the thought away. No way could I have those thoughts in my head with Requiem near by. “Doing what?” I touched the swell of her breast, and she sucked in a breath. Her skin flushed. “I’m looking for ice to cool down, you look like you need to as well?” I held out one of the small cubes. “Do you need to cool down as well Olivia?” This was a dangerous game I was playing and one that would back fire if anyone ever found out but still I couldn’t stop. Didn’t even know if I really wanted to. “Yes.” Her voice was breathy. “Yes I need to cool down.” “Thought so.” I lowered the melting ice cube to the swell of her breast. Dipping it and my fingers into the scooped neck line of her dress. “That better?” She shook her head, her lips open as she tried to act like her body wasn’t reacting to me the way it was. “No, still hot.” “How about now?” My fingers brushed against her n****e, the ice melting against her flushed skin. I rubbed it against her skin. How would she react with proper temperature play? Hot and cold , whilst she was tied down and at my mercy. I really wanted to find out. The smallest of noises caught my attention , the sound of the front door closing with a click and I stepped away. What the hell had I been thinking, touching her here. “Hey little fella.” Liv turned with a smile as the small boy walked in like he owned the place. Talk about bad timing. “Thanks for the ice Wyatt, it was just what I needed.” She smoothed down her skirts , pulling the tub of dip from fridge. “But in this heat I might need more soon.” I could do nothing but stare at her. Bloody Siren was going to lure me to my death alright.
