Olivia
”I’m glad you called again Olivia.”
Rising my eyes I stared across the candle lit table to the blonde man opposite.
And I felt nothing.
Not even a twinge of attraction. What was wrong with me? He was everything I should want. Hot, in a totally good boy next door type of way. Tall and broad through the shoulders. He was a gentleman in every way. With a good job.
And totally boring.
I was betting the s*x would be boring as well. Missionary style with either too much foreplay or not enough.
Safe.
And boring.
Like him.
“I didn’t want to leave things like we did Spencer.” I lowered my eyes as I sipped at my white wine.
His own face darkened. Of course I understood his anger. The last time he had seen me I had another mans hands wrapped around my throat and he was being escorted out of the s*x club he had taken me to.
Really this whole mess was his fault. Who takes a date they haven’t even slept with to a s*x club?
“That man… he isn’t right. He’s dangerous.”
Frowning , I stared at him. Was he talking about Wyatt? “He’s an old family friend, more like an uncle.” I hated saying the words, hated lying but what else could I do?
“He didn’t look at you like an uncle, Liv. You realise what he is don’t you?” His voice was gruff, as his hand came down over mine. “That he is a monster. People call him Beast.”
Beast… yeah I had heard that growing up. But it never really made sense to me. Sure Wyatt looked different , with his white hair and almost white eyes. With his skin that seemed leathered and scarred . As if he couldn’t quite shift back fully from his animal.
But he wasn’t a monster. He was beautiful and caring. And dangerous in a way that made me ache all over.
He wouldn’t be like Spencer, happy to just sit across from me and hold my hand. No, if the incident in the kitchen had told me anything it was that he was having a hard time keeping his hands off me.
If it had been him sitting opposite I had no doubt his hand would be on my thigh under my dress already. He would be stroking and teasing , his hands and voice dominating as he told me we couldn’t do this with one breath as his hands stroked my body with the next.
Hot and cold.
Like his fingers as they had trailed the ice down my breasts.
“He is harmless.” That wasn’t quite true , Spencer had every right to be wary of him
But Wyatt would never hurt me.
I was sure of it.
“He tried to tell the whole club you were his submissive Olivia, that’s what him touching your throat meant. I know that you didn’t know but there it is…”
“He was doing it to make sure I wasn’t bothered again. It meant nothing.” Nothing except the fact that the heat between us was hot enough to melt the polar ice caps. “Nothing.”
“And us? Are we good?”Spencer’s fingers squeezed mine. And I gave him a smile. Why didn’t my body react to him?
“Of course, my parents are really happy that we are getting to know each other.” At least that wasn’t a lie. I stared down at his thumb as it brushed over the back of my hand.
“Are you happy with this though Liv?”
I stared at him. Was I happy? Had I been happy until he had taken me to that club and delivered me like a lamb to the slaughter into Wyatts grasp?
“Of course.” I lied easily. Shocking myself. “I’m having a great time getting to know you.”
“Good because I really like you.” Raising my hand to his lips he kissed the back of it. His eyes glowing. “I think we would be good together…”
“We would need a third.” I was clutching at straws, was this what I wanted? A union of convenience? My parents had Mated for love. Unfiltered , never ending love. The mate bond pulling them back together even after years and the death of my biological father.
Everyone I knew had found their true mate and here I was, only twenty six seriously thinking of settling down, of binding myself to someone I wasn’t even sure I found attractive.
“We can find one.” His voice had turned husky. “We are Young, we have time. I am enjoying getting to know you better all by myself Liv,” His voice grew growly. “I would like to get to know you better.”
There could be no mistaking what he meant. And I had walked straight into that one.
“I would like that as well.” I pulled my hand clear of his. “Very much but I want it to be special you know?”
He nodded “of course, of course. There’s no rush we have the rest of our lives to get to know each other better.”
Shit, did he think I had just agreed to be his mate? How the hell was I meant to get out of this now?
“Let’s just finish our dessert, and I will walk you to your door.”
I nodded. “That sounds good, thank you.” I didn’t bother to tell him that I wouldn’t be going home to bed like the good like mermaid he wanted me to be.
I had another appointment tonight.
If I was really going to tie myself to mr boring , I sure as hell needed a third That for got my motor running.
I needed a dominant alpha and the perfect place to find one was Club X.
I wasn’t going in the hopes of running into Wyatt at all.
