61. Breakfast

I wake up in the morning with Dipak. We're in bed. It's comfortable and warm, but I have no idea where I am. I wiggle around but Dipak is sound asleep. I go out into the hallway. This must be the house he was talking about. But I look over a railing and there is a big sitting room down there with a huge couch and chairs. It looks comfy.

I go down stairs and find a door. I end up in a huge dining room. There's a girl in it.

She smiles. "Good morning. Are you Nadine?"

"Yes. What's your name?"

"Savannah. Would you like some breakfast?"

"I am hungry, but I can go to the ship to eat."

"Don't be silly. I'll get you breakfast. Sit anywhere."

"Thank you." I sit in the middle of the long table. This place is nice and fancy.

She gives me a plate with eggs and meat on it. Then some toast and some milk.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. Let me know if you need anything else."

"Do you by chance know where I can get a comb?"

"I set up a bathroom for you. I'll show you where it is after breakfast."

"You don't have to do all this for me. Please don't make a fuss."

"Nonsense. I can help and show you where stuff is. I don't mind. It's my job."

"Really?"

"Yes. I'm what's called an omega. It's the lowest rank in the pack. So I do cooking and cleaning. I also show guests around and make sure they feel welcome. I love my job."

"Well, you do a very good job. I appreciate this. I thought I might starve, and I'm a terrible hunter."

We laugh and Mason clears his throat.

"Good morning." I take a drink of milk.

"Good morning alpha. I didn't even hear you come in. What would you like for breakfast?"

"What she is having looks great."

"I'll get that right out for you."

Mason sits at the end of the table. "What do you think?"

I shrug my shoulders. "Everything is so fancy. I'm afraid I'll break something if I look at it too hard."

He smirks, and another guy walks in. "Mason, we got an invitation to the annual mating ball. They want to know how many are attending."

I drink my milk. He's very business-like and professional. His clothes are perfect. Not a wrinkle anywhere and his hair is nice. He reminds me of Tre.

"My name is Kodan. If you need anything, you ask."

"Thank you. I'm Nadine."

"Here's your breakfast sir. What would you like, Beta Kodan?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Nadine. And no, thank you. I already ate."

Mason smiles at me. "Are you going to the ball?"

I shake my head.

"Why not?"

"I didn't know there was a ball. I've only been a werewolf for a week. Well, other than my whole life of not knowing about it. They said I was born this way and never knew. What's a mating ball?"

Kodan sits down. "A ball where the unmated wolves go. Gives them a chance to find their mates."

"That sounds fun. I'm not old enough for a mate though. I think it would be pointless for me to go to it."

Kodan nods. "Your wolf would know if you found your mate. It's not like your wolf would lie to you."

I stare at him blankly. "What?"

"What's your wolfs name?"

"What?"

He scratches his head. "Have you talked to your wolf?"

"I can talk to it?"

"Yes. You should be able to hear her in your head and communicate."

I take a drink of milk. "There's someone else living in my head now?"

Mason nods. "Try saying hello wolf and see what happens."

"Hello wolf." I shake my head.

"Sometimes they are shy. You said it's only been a week?"

"6 days I think."

"She might not even be there yet, Mason. She was born a werewolf and vampire. But didn't turn until now. The wolf might not have showed up in her yet. If it had, she would have turned a lot earlier than 6 days ago."

-Let me talk to them please.-

"My dragon wants to talk to you."

"Your dragon?"

"She lives in my head too. My eyes go red when she takes over me. That's how you know if it's me or the dragon. Red eyes."

"Ok."

-I release the power.-

My eyes go red. "Good morning Alpha Mason, Beta Kodan."

"Good morning."

"You are a dragon, not a wolf, right?"

"That is correct sir. I did not realize wolves come with another soul. I do not believe that her or any of the boys have them. This may be because we're vampires first. But they all have a dragon in them. Maybe there is only room for 1 other soul in a person."

Mason shakes his head. "Doubtful. It's more likely you haven't got the soul yet. Did they all turn 6 days ago?"

"Yes."

"Sometimes it takes a month or 2. Then they will be quiet forever."

"I am very unsure of having another voice in here. We thought it was another form to play with. Not another being."

"That is unlikely."

"Can your wolves take over you like this?"

"Yes, but we can see what's going on."

I nod. "Nadine will have no memory of this conversation."

"How long have you been with her?"

"Since she was very young. She is still quite young."

-I release the power.-

The red eyes go away, and I drink my milk. "What did she want?"

"Questions about the wolf. We think there hasn't been enough time. You'll probably get a wolf in a month or 2."

"That will be interesting. What if we don't like her?"

Mason smiles. "I'm sure it'll be fine. Wolves are very quiet."

"That's what people say about dragons too."

They laugh and Dipak walks in.

"Good morning."

"Good morning. You know how the dragon lives in your head?"

"Yea." He gives me a weird look.

"There's a wolf coming to live in your head too."

He stares at Mason. "Are you f*****g for real?"

"We think so. It sometimes takes a month or 2 after the first shift."

He sits at the other end of the table. "That's some news."

I nod. "There's also something called a mating ball. Werewolves go and find their mates. I want to go."

Dipak rubs his eyes. "Woman..."

Mason smiles. "You can't find your mate without the wolf. You will need that first."

"Oh." I put a bite in my mouth.

Dipak stretches. "We lucked out on that. Maybe the next 1 woman. You probably won't get invited though. Nobody knows you're a wolf."

"Oh you're all sneaky today. What can I get you for breakfast, sir?"

"Whatever she's having is good."

"I will be right back, sir."

Kodan smirks. "The ball isn't for 3 months. You would probably have your wolf by then. You should think about going. They are a lot of fun."

"I want to go."

"Woman. It's probably super far away. And do they happen every year?"

"Yes."

"You could miss 1 or 10. You're still too young."

"I want to go and dance."

"It's actually at the werewolf kings castle this year."

I look at him weirdly. "What's his name?"

"Werewolf King Ronion."

"Does he have a boy named Decker?"

"Prince Decker. Yes."

Dipak sits up. "You are under his rule, here?"

"Yes, almost every pack is."

I jump up. "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK."

"Here's your food sir."

I run right through my door. Then I turn around and knock. Decker opens the door. "MY PRINCESS." He gives me the biggest hug.

Ronion comes out with a plate of food. "You're back already?"

"Not yet." I shut the door and make a new one, then go through.

Decker comes right with me. His arms are around me. "This is not my house."

"Woman, why did you go and take Decker?"

Ronion walks in. "I was unsure if I was invited, but my boy didn't seem to care."

Dipak laughs.

Mason and Kodan stare.

Ronion sits at Dipak's end of the table. Decker sits beside me. We smile.

"Can I get you some breakfast, sir?"

Ronion shakes his head. "I brought mine. Thank you anyway."

Decker perks up. "Do you have bacon?"

"Yes, we do. Would you like some?"

"And some for my princess too. She needs to try it."

"Of course. I'll get that right out to you."

"Well, why did you bring him here?"

"They said you are having a werewolf mating ball at your castle."

"Yes, my mate decided to host that, and I had no say."

Dipak and Kodan laugh.

"I didn't know you had a castle."

"I don't live in it. But yes, it's there. It's too much for us to live in a castle. I prefer to be out on the land and in my village. A castle is formal and boring."

"I agree. Can I host the next 1?"

"No. A mating ball is different. And huge. It takes over the entire first level of my castle, the gardens, courtyards. Hell, even the fields will be full of unmated werewolves. And since it's at the 'werewolf kings castle' even more people are going to be coming. It would be a disaster in a vampire village."

"That makes sense. Am I invited? I have a wolf now."

"No, you have a wolf form now. You don't have your wolf yet, and it would be pointless to show up without that."

"Awww."

"It's ok. You can be my date and come with me."

"Boy, you don't bring a date to a mating ball."

"I can too. You said I'm too young and can bring a friend."

I smile at him. "I can't do that to you. You would have no fun with me. I don't want to get dressed up and have a mud war again."

"That was fun though."

"It really was. But you should go with someone your own age, so you can have fun."

Ronion nods. "And by friend, I meant a boy your own age. You are too young to be dating. And you never take a date to a mating ball."

"Fine."

I cross my arms. "I wanted to see your castle."

Ronion looks at Dipak. "Anyone who has their wolf by then can come. They have to have it though."

Dipak nods. "Maybe we can just come over for a tour the week before or something."

"That would work. If you don't have the wolves by a week before, you can come to the castle to visit and Decker can give you a tour."

We smile.

"Here's your bacon. You 2 enjoy."

We both yell, "THANK YOU." And grab some.

Ronion finally notices where we are. "Well, you're an alpha. I'm King Ronion. My son, Prince Decker."

"Alpha Mason Stein of the Crimson Moon Pack. This is Beta Kodan."

"Pleasure to meet you. What is going on?"

"She turned 2 of his into vampires last night."

"I would not have agreed to testing on werewolves."

I shake my head. "I wouldn't have either. My dragon did it."

"Continue."

"1 of my guards mates fell and was mortally injured. They tried to heal her with magic. There was nothing we could do. Her spine and neck were broken. Her mate begged her dragon. She bit him. Then she bit the woman. They are in the hospital. We are waiting to see what happens. We were aware that she had never done it before. It was the woman's only chance."

Decker jumps up. "WHAT DOES YOUR WOLF LOOK LIKE? I BET SHE'S SO PRETTY."

Ronion yells, "SIT DOWN. Nadine, can you shift at will?"

"Yes, we got that."

"Very nice. I would like to see your wolf as well. Before I leave. Not right here. I also want to see the werewolves in the hospital. I am interested in how this turns out."

Decker jumps up. "LET'S GO PLAY OUTSIDE. IS THIS A REAL WEREWOLF VILLAGE?"

"Boy, we live in a real werewolf village."

"It's got vampire guards everywhere. Where are we?"

I shake my head. "I don't think we figured that out yet. This is where the boat went."

Ronion rubs his eyes. "How?"

"We let Tye drive."

They all laugh.

"CAN WE GO OUTSIDE NOW DAD?"

Mason stands up. "We can go over to the hospital. They can play. I'll put a guard on each of them, so they don't get lost. And no going in the ocean."

"WE'RE BY THE OCEAN?"

"It's a whole island. They have the biggest butterflies. But they also have bears, so we have to be careful." Dipak, Mason, and Kodan chuckle.

Mason smiles. "Yes, make sure to keep a guard with you."
