5. Betrayal

Edward was already standing looking at Alphonse, who was preparing for a duel. Alphonse smiled several times, mocking Edward. He underestimated Edward's ability.

"I guess you're afraid to do this duel again, Bastard," Alphonse said mockingly.

Edward was undaunted. Even though he knew she was not the son of Luna, Edward did not care. He had to win and become Alpha. So that no member of the Gold Moon Pack would underestimate him, including Farah.

The duel began. They turned into wolves. Edward was so charming. His fur was shiny gray, really beautiful, and also dashing.

"Are you ready, Edward?" He-wolf asked Edward. Edward smiled as the other side of him motivated him to get ready.

"Of course," Edward muttered.

The two Alpha sons began the match. Alphonse attacked first. He growled to show that he would not lose to a 'Bastard.'

Alphonse bit Edward's neck, but Edward managed to dodge. They attacked each other and did not hesitate to bite each other. In terms of strength, Edward was stronger. He was a trained warrior. Even though he was an illegitimate child, Edward had an obligation to protect the Pack from other Pack threats. He had been highly trained in this kind of fight.

Farah was worried because her son seemed overwhelmed by Edward, who was much tougher. Edward's hard life made him not easily defeated. Evidently, none of Alphonse's attacks could hurt Edward. Alphonse was indeed good at fighting. He was an Alpha, but Edward had more fighting experience than Alphonse.

"Roy, what about this?" Farah complained to her husband. She didn't want her son to lose this duel. She didn't want the Alpha position to go to Edward.

Roy was silent. He was too engrossed in the duel between his two sons. It was unclear whether Roy supported either of them. But, whatever the outcome, Roy would not abide by the rules. The one who wins the duel this time will be the Alpha after Roy.

Virgie was also very enthusiastic about the duel. Of course, she was rooting for Edward. Several times Edward whimpered when Alphonse successfully attacked him. Although the pack members cheered for Alphonse.

"Come on, Edward," Virgie muttered.

Both wolves were so strong. Even though Alphonse could not inflict serious injuries on Edward, his determination to win outweighed anything.

It was the same with Edward. Ever since Farah's arrival last night, he had sworn to himself that he would become Alpha. His anger at Farah for mocking his mother made Edward's spirit invincible.

"Edward, kick his head." He-wolf continued to provoke Edward, giving commands. He-wolf was indeed so wise and could nurture Edward, who sometimes liked to act impulsively.

"Head? What if he dies?" Edward felt denial. Although he and Alphonse were rivals, Edward did not want to kill him.

"Easy. The wolf won't die easily. Attack his head. Then throw him to the right," he-wolf said.

Alphonse ran towards Edward. Edward was ready. He was determined to win. And he would do anything. Edward jumped at Alphonse. With his strength, he bit off Alphonse's head, then, just like what Edward's wolf said, Edward, threw Alphonse's body to the right side. Right where mom and dad were sitting. Alphonse was exhausted. He returned to his human form. Alphonse was dying from Edward's throw.

Edward also returns to human form. Roy Reynolds, the father, headed to the dueling arena. Meanwhile, Farah runs over to Alphonse, who is dying from Edward's attack.

The duel was finally won by Edward Reynolds. Roy Reynolds automatically crowned him as the next Alpha of the Gold Moon Pack. Edward smiled triumphantly despite his battered body. Everything would return to normal with his abilities.

Virgie was so happy that Edward had won this duel. Edward would become Alpha. That meant he would become Luna. What a happy destiny. Virgie couldn't wait to reveal her identity to Edward.

"Dad," Edward called Roy.

Roy Reynolds looked at his illegitimate son. Although Edward was not his hope, Roy would respect the duel's outcome.

"What's wrong?" Roy Reynolds asked.

"I have something to announce," Edward answered.

"What are you going to tell the members?" Roy asked again.

"Something about my destiny, Dad," replied Edward. They did not get along. Edward hated his father. But Edward knew how to honor Roy as the Alpha of the Gold Moon Pack.

"Tell me," Roy Reynolds said. Edward was the next Alpha. It was only right that Roy should give Edward the privileges he felt.

Edward stood in front of the pack members. He looked at them all and said something out loud.

"I, Edward Reynolds. I am the next Alpha Gold Moon Pack. I announce that I found my mate," Edward said.

The members were surprised when Edward said he had found his mat. So was Virgie. Although they had both felt each other's scent, Edward and Virgie hadn't even officially met. They didn't know each other yet.

Virgie felt Edward's decision to announce his mate was too hasty. Virgie was not ready. She was not ready to show her identity to the Gold Moon pack members.

A woman entered the dueling arena. She was Selena Joseph, the daughter of the Alpha Dark Moon Pack. She hugged Edward again in front of everyone. They even kissed passionately.

"She is Selena Joseph, the daughter of Victor Joseph, Alpha Dark Moon Pack. She is my mate, my future Luna," Edward said with a happy smile. A victory and also the announcement of a mate. What a wonderful success.

Upset, Farah immediately left the duel arena. She could not accept that her son lost and did not become Alpha.

Selena looked very happy to be announced as Edward Reynolds' mate. It certainly got a warm welcome from the members.

Edward smiled and accidentally looked at Virgie. The masked girl kept him from focusing on the previous duel. There was a strange feeling when looking at Virgie. Like there was something strange about that girl.

Virgie was very sad. Especially when Selena looked at her with her sickening smile. Selena knew that the masked girl was Virgie. Selena felt that she deserved this position.

Heartbroken, Virgie went home crying. She wanted to show Edward who she was today, but instead, Edward announced another woman as his mate. This made no sense. Mate is destiny. And Virgie sure felt that way about Edward. The scent couldn't be lying. Edward even imprints on her.

When Virgie came home in tears, that's when Rebecca saw her. Rebecca already knew that her daughter was heartbroken. But instead of comforting Virgie, she laughed at her daughter.

''You're such a fool. I told you that you're not the one. Selena suits him better," Rebecca said.

Virgie was upset. Her heart was completely broken at the moment. "Why are you always supporting Selena? Mom, I'm your daughter! Why are you defending that girl!" Virgie screamed.

"Because you're a disgrace! I'm ashamed to have a daughter like you! You don't need to pretend to meet, mate. Just live as you are. I know you're secretly collecting money to leave the Pack. But you won't be able to do it! Don't even try to leave this Pack!" Rebecca threatened.

Not finished with the heartache, Virgie had to get this kind of treatment from her mother.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Vergie asked. She was suspicious of her mother.

Virgie immediately ran to her room. She picked up the box where she had hidden the money. Virgie was shocked to see that her money was not there at all. The money was gone.

"Mom! Did you take my money?" she screamed.
