Chapter 19: Don't Be Too Possessive

1579 Words
Geneva was the first one who recovered her senses from shock. She suddenly frowned and put on a stern face. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be here?" Alyssa Curtis eyed the other woman up and down and her face turned sour as she noticed how beautiful and elegant the other woman was despite her simple outfit. The woman was only wearing a red blouse and white jeans. Her hair was tied into a high ponytail and nothing else. Her face was naturally smooth and flawless. There was only light makeup on her delicate face which actually looked like nothing, but her beauty was still undoubtedly fabulous in every aspect. As a woman, Alyssa Curtis was no exception among those women who envied and got jealous of the beauty that surpassed themselves. "Should I be the one to ask you that?" Alyssa Curtis replied. Her tone was displeased. She openly showed how she disliked the other person. Not even caring about her own image as a public figure. "Who are you? Why are you in this room?" Geneva's brow arched sarcastically. "Did you just hit your head on the wall? Don't know me? Really?" "Why should I know you? Are we close? Wait? Don't avoid my question. I will ask you one more time. Be honest with me. Who are you and why are you here?" Geneva pointed the lipstick in her hand at her. "Miss Curtis, I—" Geneva abruptly paused the moment her eyes caught a sight on the lipstick. She just realized that she wasn't the other person's manager but an unimportant stranger. Alyssa Curtis crossed her arms over her shoulders. "Speak! Aren't you fierce to me just now? Why did you stop? I really wanted to see how you are going to end up if Brother Xander finds out you're bullying me." Geneva's stern face became cold. She pointed to her own nose. "I'm bullying you? How did I bully you?" "Don't act innocent. Come on. Show me who you really are." "This woman, did she forget what I told her? How can she just fight anyone and forget her image? Is she planning to exhaust me from working cleaning up with her mess?" Geneva sighed inwardly. "Miss Curtis, I don't know why you're trying to make trouble with me. But here's a piece of advice as a citizen. Don't forget your identity. Don't destroy your image in the eyes of the public." "You—" "Alright. You should go back to your work. Don't run around and make trouble for your manager." Geneva turned around and moved to close the door. However, Alyssa Curtis stretched out her arm to block the door midway. "Wait! Why are you in a hurry to chase me away? I want to talk to Brother Xander!" Alyssa Curtis insisted. Geneva furrowed her brows. "Brother Xander? Who is he?" "Don't act dumb! Where is he? Don't selfishly hide him from me. I saw him enter this room!" She attempted to enter but Geneva swiftly blocked the door using herself. Since the woman couldn't do anything to force herself in besides becoming angrier, she shouted from the outside to attract the attention of the man she was looking for. "Brother Xander! Brother Xander! This is Alyssa Curtis, please come out! Don't hide from me!" Geneva looked around and when she saw that the neighbor's doors were about to open to check on the commotion outside their rooms, she hurriedly grabbed the other woman's arm, hauled her inside, and pushed her on the bed. She sternly glared at her and yelled, "Alyssa Curtis, are you crazy?" Alyssa Curtis ignored her rage. She just shot her a look and then looked around. "Where is Brother Xander? You b***h, where did you hide him?" "Miss Curtis, I advise you. Watch your mouth or it will ruin you." Geneva's face darkened and the atmosphere of the room suddenly dropped into second to zero degrees. Alyssa Curtis suddenly felt a chill running down her spine and she couldn't help but hug herself and swallow her saliva. What was more strange was that the coldness and strictness of the other woman gave off the feeling of familiarity to her. "You— who really are you? What is your relationship to Brother Xander?" Geneva shook her head as she stared at the woman disappointedly. "Miss Curtis, remember what I am going to say next. First, don't easily fight with anyone whether you are in private or in public. If the news gets out that you fought, it would be bad to your reputation as a public figure. Second, as a public figure, keep in mind to stay calm whatever the situation is. Being impulsive and short-tempered is not a good thing. Third, don't be too possessive. There's nothing in this world that belongs to you only. And lastly and the most important thing, don't make a fuss about something you don't know the truth about. Who is Brother Xander? I don't know him at all." Alyssa Curtis gulped again. Her lips parted. She wanted to say something but she couldn't find her own voice. Strangely, even the woman scolding her was a complete stranger to her, since the moment she felt that familiar feeling, she seemed to have been possessed and was unable to refute. Alyssa Curtis was completely suppressed from the woman's strong aura. To divert her attention, she looked around and when she calmed down, she spoke once more but this time was gentle and respectful. "Do you really not know about Brother Xander?" Geneva leaned against the wall, crossing her legs and her arms over her chest. "I am just a normal person. What will I get if I lie? Besides, you're inside already. Did you find anyone else apart from me?" "I—" "Alright. You should go back to your work. I'm in a hurry so please leave. As for troubling me, I will pretend it never happened. But for you, there must be no next time. Not every time you will meet a forgiving person. If you run into others and not me, from what you have done, your reputation is now ruined. But you don't have to worry. I don't have an interest in other people's lives, so you can rest assured that no third party will know whatever happened today." Alyssa Curtis bowed respectfully. "Thank you for understanding. I must have made a mistake. I thought Brother Xander was here." "Okay, please leave." Geneva pointed at the door and Alyssa Curtis embarrassingly left the room right away without any further words. As a public figure, she understood that what she did was disgraceful. But what could she do? When it came to the matter of heart, she was weak and had no control of her own emotions. Geneva tapped her chest and mumbled, "It was too close. Too close. I should be careful next time." Geneva stood back in front of the mirror to check her appearance. Meanwhile, Alyssa Curtis leaned against the door right after the moment she shut the door. She closed her eyes and whispered, "Alyssa Curtis oh Alyssa Curtis, you're so disgusting. How could you keep doing wrong things? This is not you before." She suddenly shook her head and patted her cheeks. "This is so scary. Love is so scary. You can't stay like this. This is bad. This is bad." Suddenly, a phone call interrupted her from self-reprimanding. She unhurriedly searched her phone inside her small bag and took it out. When she saw the name of the caller, her eyes lit up and feeling anxious at the same time. "Bro-brother Xander? What's‐ what's up?" "What are you doing right now?" Xander Villaruel's cold and stern voice was heard on the other end of the phone. "Where are you?" "I'm at work. Why?" "At work? Are you sure? You didn't create trouble, did you?" Alyssa Curtis gulped nervously. She even looked around, afraid if Xander Villaruel was actually watching her and caught her in the act earlier. When she was assured that he was not in the same place as hers, she forced a laugh. "Brother Xander, what trouble can I possibly make? Don't you trust me? I'm always serious when working." "That's great then. I'm hoping not to hear any unpleasant rumors about you. You get me?" "Of course. Oh by the way Brother Xander, I almost forgot. The venue for the audition this afternoon actually changed into another place. I don't know exactly what happened but we are now in the Sunshine Hotel." "So that's what happened." Xander Villaruel sighed. "It's great that you don't forget your responsibility. Alright, I have to go now. You should go to your room too and get prepared." "Yes." Alyssa Curtis ended the call, fixed the strap of her bag, took a deep breath and walked to leave with a smile. After several turns in the hallway, she found Xindy Apostol waiting for her outside her room. When the latter saw her approaching, she quickly met her with an anxious face. "Sister Alyssa, where did you go earlier? You scared me to death. Why did you suddenly disappear? If something happened to you, how am I going to answer Brother Xander?" Alyssa Curtis tapped her shoulder and smiled, "I advise you to stop drinking coffee. You are becoming more and more skittish." "Sister Alyssa, stop making fun of me." "Alright. Let's go in." "Yes."
