When the three refused to follow, Chen Lei stopped and looked over once more.
Intentionally raising a brow at Geneva, he said, "What? You don't dare to come in? Are you worrying about something?" Another sarcastic laugh came out in his mouth. "You're thinking too much. Just like what I promise at Allen, I won't do something to scare you for the sake of my son. But, hmm, as long as you don't show a motive on me, there's nothing going to happen, right?"
"Enough!" Geneva gnashing her teeth. "Yes. We better talk things out." Not sparing a glance to any of them, Geneva entered the house first by herself while pulling the little kid along.
The little kid just goes with the flow. He neither complained for ignoring him nor throwing tantrums. He never forgot what Geneva taught him. When elders argue, kids don't need to interfere.
The edge of Chen Lei's lips curved up as his dark eyes followed the annoyed figure of the woman. As for Allen, he observed Chen Lei's expression frustratingly for a few seconds and then chased after the duo. Whether Allen disliked his uncle's way of communicating or dealing with people, he could do nothing about them. He was just an insignificant weakling in their eyes after all.
When the group of four reached inside the huge lobby in their house, the little kid's nanny hurriedly came over and knelt in front of the kid, sobbing, "Little Young Master, you're finally home. Why did you run away again? You scared us so much. Please, don't do this again. You're uncle and father and everyone here is so worried about you."
The kid remained silent on Geneva's side. He didn't even spare her a quick look.
"What are you crying for?" Chen Lei spoke behind Geneva and the kid. His tone was void of warmth. It was so cold and low yet such a tone sounded very intimidating in the ears of Kath Divaz and so she shuddered.
"Young Master, Second Young Master." Kath Divaz hung her lower.
"Don't dilly-dally here. Take him to his room." Chen Lei ordered.
"Yes. Let's go, Little Young Master." Kath Divaz extended her hand to lead the kid upstairs but the latter only ignored her. Kath Divaz also missed to notice it as her attention fell into Allen who was soaked in the rain. "Second Young Master, you're not cold?"
Allen's eyes narrowed sharply. "Mind your own business. Did I ask you to care about me?"
Chen Lei and Geneva simultaneously gave him a look.
"Why don't you get change first?" Chen Lei said. "We're not going to elope."
Allen's jaws moved holding his anger. He shot his uncle a warning look before walking upstairs, stomping his feet.
Chen Lei threw a cold look at Kath Divaz yet intimidating, causing the latter to lower her head while trembling. "I hate to repeat myself."
"Little Young Master, please come with me." Kath Divaz panicked. Because of that, she forgot that the kid disliked being touched by others. As her hand touched him, he immediately pushed him away and the nanny fell with a loud thud.
"Chen Bao Ai! You're doing this again?" Chen Lei fiercely said. He tried to pull the kid towards him but the kid quickly huddled in front of Geneva. "You're using her to oppose me?" Chen Lei chuckled. "Interesting. This is very interesting."
Geneva ignored Chen Lei's sarcastic remarks. She tapped the kid's back, broke free from his hold and walked past him. She crouched in front of the young lady and helped her to stand. "Come, let me help you up."
"Thank you but I can do it myself." Kath Divaz glanced at the two masters as shook her head and hurriedly picked herself up. "Thank you Miss."
Geneva nodded in understanding. Probably the devil behind her disliked useless people and so the nanny refused for her help.
Suddenly, the devil spoke again, breaking away her private thoughts. "I never thought you're that kind. Or you are just showing your best side in order to win everyone's favor because you found out he is wealthy."
"Huh!" Geneva smirked. "I don't have a habit of kissing other people's asses. I'm not a desperate dog."
"Really? Then it's strange."
Geneva cast him a mocking glimpse. "Aren't you professional? Why can't you just open your mouth when the kid is away?" Geneva looked at the kid and spoke softly, "Little Chen, come with your nanny. Go to your room upstairs. Let us elders talk privately."
The kid looked up at her, tears suddenly began to form in the edges of his eyes.
Geneva sighed as she seemed to understand what the kid's were worrying about. "I'm not angry. But you must apologize to your nanny. What you did to her is wrong." She ruffled the kid's hair and the latter dejectedly lowered his head but not avoiding her touch. "Okay, go to your first. There's just some things my father and I need to talk about."
The kid grabbed the hem of her shirt as he glanced at his father.
Geneva sighed once more. Unknowingly, she understood what he was trying to indicate with his stare. "Okay. Don't worry. Nothing will happen to me."
Only after her continuous assurance that the kid started to walk upstairs with a heavy heart. He didn't wish to leave her side but he was afraid to anger her and so he obeyed her.
Kath Divaz also hurriedly followed him after bowing to her the devil.
"Come with me." Chen Lei spoke as he prepared to make his way towards his study room which was next only to the lobby.
This time, Geneva didn't refuse to follow. Sighing, she silently walked before him. Neither of them talk on their way inside. Chen Lei only spoke after he sat like an almighty God on his expensive leather chair inside his huge and extravagant study room. "Don't just stand there. Find a place you like to sit."
The room was extraordinarily capacious; stuff and furniture were organized; books were placed in order according to its size, thickness, and content in the shelves. It was almost perfect if not because of one factor— less warmth.
Anyone could feel the coldness of the owner based on the air or atmosphere of the room.
It was Geneva's first visit inside his study room. Though she was not interested in exploring her sight inside, she couldn't help but look around. However, upon hearing his ridiculous tone, she lost her mood and became serious and as cold as him as she entered further.
"This room is just like you." Geneva couldn't help but say such a thing.
Chen Lei steepled his fingers and coldly asked, "How did you say so?"
"Heartless." Geneva sternly stated as she seriously stared at him. "And cold."
Chen Lei chuckled. "Really? Tell me why?"
Geneva walked over and slammed her palms on the table. "Why? Why did you do this?"
"Are we still discussing the same thing? I don't quite understand you." Chen Lei feigned innocence. He lowered his sight and stared at Geneva's chest intently. He smiled. "Miss Sanchez, did you miss me?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Geneva mocked. "You think too highly of yourself."
"Really?" He stared at her eyes then lowered at her chest once more, purposely allowing her to realize his action. "Miss Sanchez, are you trying to seduce me?"
