Chapter 34: I Hate Him

1152 Words
The kid tilted his head, eyes saying, "How are they different?" Geneva closed her eyes, chest heaved up and down slowly. As she opened her eyes, a genuine smile formed on her sexy lips, making her look so fabulous and loveable. Her dimples also added her unrivaled and fresh exotic beauty. "Darling, you got me wrong. What I am trying to say is that I'm quitting with the job but I am not leaving you. You're so great and adorable. How can I leave such a kid like you, right?" The kid wrote on his notepad and showed it to her. "But Allen said if you're my bodyguard, it means we can be together most of the time. I like to be with you, so I don't want you to quit. This is my father's fault. I hate him." "No. No." Geneva shook her head, waving her hands along. "Darling, you can't be like that. He is your father. You should not hate him. No matter how he was as a father, you can't hate him. He raised you single- handedly and he did not hurt you so there's no reason for you to hate him. Did you get me?" The kid wrote again. "I hate him. I can't help it!!" "Why?" Geneva's eyes narrowed, confused. "He bullies you!" Geneva caressed the kid's cheek. "Darling, don't be like this. He is your father. I am just an outsider. You can hate your father just for an outsider like me. I will feel bad and guilty. Besides, you're a kid. You don't have to get involved with the fight of adults." "So you're not quitting your job anymore?" The kid blinked his big clear eyes that were expectant. "I—" Geneva melted from how the kid stared at her. Her stubborn and cold heart was completely softened by the kid. Not only because of his cuteness but because of the closeness and familiar or strong connection she felt towards him. Hence, she could not be careless, otherwise more problems would arise. "Darling, I can't really promise you. Let me reconsider it, okay?" The kid sighed so deep and then nodded. Geneva heaved a sigh of relief and hugged the kid. "Thank you Darling." She held his shoulders and they stared at each other intently. "Darling, can you promise me something?" The kid nodded. "Don't do this anymore, okay? This is not good behavior. It will not only worry the people around you. It will also be bad for you. You get me?" The kid nodded. He wrote and showed them to her. "I promise. I won't do this anymore." "Great! Great!" Geneva said joyfully. A sudden knock interrupted their hearty conversation. The duo looked over the door. Geneva stood to answer it but the kid held her hand. Geneva looked down on him, frowning. "What's the problem?" The kid glanced at the door. Geneva followed his line of sight and she could tell that the kid was uneasy to face everybody despite his calm appearance. Geneva pulled his hand off and then ruffled his hair. "It's fine. They won't blame you. Besides, you have me." Geneva answered the door and when she opened it, the stern and cold gaze was what unfolded before her eyes. The rest was gone. Probably the devil chased them away. The man was initially looking so perfectly handsome. But this was disqualified as she remembered how terrible and heartless he was as a person. He was a human but behaving like not a human. He was not a ghost but everyone saw him as a ghost because of his scary and unapproachable personality. The man was now wearing simple jeans and white polo but he was still damn hot and sexy, especially when he was serious. "Why is it you?" The woman said, frowning and irritated. Chen Lei raised a brow. "What? You're expecting someone else? Woman, you might have forgotten. The place where you are right now is my place. So how could someone else be here and knock on the door, huh?" Geneva rolled her eyes. "Since you're here, then I should be leaving now." "Why avoid me? I am not a plague. Or you just…" Geneva raised a brow sternly. "Just what?" Chen Lei came closer and whispered into her ear. "You're afraid to fall in love with me." Geneva was initially blushing unknowingly because of the warm air blowing in her ear from his breathing, but his statement awoke her and so a sarcastic laugh came out from her mouth. "President, I really don't know why you're so confident about that? But there is one thing I want to say. Falling in love with you is the least thing that will happen to me. Never!" Chen Lei's face darkened. "Really?" Then he chuckled softly. "So pretentious. Last time you're even…" "Shut up!" Geneva glared at him. "You know what President Chen, you will be forever lonely… because you're so boring and annoying. No one can't bear to breathe the same air as you." Chen Lei's fists balled, gaze turning sharp. After saying that, Geneva prepared to leave. She had not taken any further steps when small arms suddenly hugged her legs from behind. "What the—" The woman's words were swallowed back as she realised that it was the little thing. When she looked down, the kid also looked up and their eyes met. Geneva closed her eyes and then squatted down, holding the kid by his shoulders. "Darling, it's already late. I have to leave to rest. There is still work tomorrow." The kid shook his head, eyes saying, "Please stay." He looked back at the man who was in a terrible mood. "I don't want to be alone with him." Geneva frowned as she hardly understood what his eyes were telling her. She could only guess that the kid was begging her to stay in their house. Geneva sighed as she glanced at her watch. "It's really getting late. Darling, it's not that I don't want to accompany you. It's just, I don't want to—" "I will leave. You stay." The man suddenly said and walked away. "Wait! This is not my house. Why should I stay?" Geneva shouted at him who was already in the stairs. The man stopped and looked over. "Because I say so." "Why should I stay if you asked me to stay? I am not your puppet." Chen Lei's stare turned sharp and terribly cold. Even though Geneva was a bit far from him, she could feel the freezing air that abruptly shrouded the house. "Woman, don't cross my limit." Geneva quieted down. Strangely, she could not find her voice to talk back. For some unknown reason, she noticed that something was abnormal to man. "What's wrong with him?" Geneva thought. "I don't care. Why thought of him."
