1270 Words
Xander watched Xindy until she took a turn in the hallway and entered back to his office, and closed the door afterwards. Xander did not waste time for anything else. Though he was uninterested to see the gift, there was also a part of him telling him to open the pouch out of curiosity. Not only because of curiosity that Xander wanted to unfold the pouch but also to confirm his doubts. Because the moment he saw that gift, that huge bouquet of red roses, he had the bad feeling that he knew the sender of that luxurious gift. Xander put the flower aside and opened the box. The moment the content of the pouch revealed before his eyes, he was slightly blinded by the glow of the stone. The content was nothing else but a diamond ring. The ring was made of white diamond and the stone was azure diamond. The diamond ring was exquisitely made. And it was undoubtedly beautiful. No woman could not be happier if they received such a gift for their lovers. But towards Xander, also Geneva, such a gift was only an eyesore in her eyes. He had never liked such a gift. "Who sent me this kind of gift?" Xander frowned. He then again checked the pouch and inside, he again saw a piece of paper folded into a small one. Xander took it out and opened the paper. The moment he saw the name of the sender, his doubts were confirmed. The letter contained something like this... "The most precious, the most expensive, and the most beautiful stone in the world only deserves to be placed in the hand of the most beautiful, most kind, most noble, and most precious woman in the world, Xander. I hope you will like my present, My precious. Even if I am not around, I can still monitor you.Your beloved, CJ" Xander returned the ring inside the pouch as well as that piece of paper. Then sat on his seat back. He braced his elbow and played on his fingertip with his teeth. He took time to ponder over that name CJ. "Cj? Impossible! I don't believe he is here. He has a lot of business in the other country, how could he come back here all of a sudden? Besides, I remembered he once told me that he can't go back here, So, it's impossible. But, how could he send me such a gift and even ambush Chen Lei? What is his problem with that devil? It's more not like him. He never touched people who offended me because he knew I don't want others to shelde or protect me like I am such a vulnerable woman. But why did he go to such an extent as to kill him just for me? Is he crazy? What? His interest caught him? Or, is this guy really planning to take me back? No. He can't do that. He promised me already." A knock disturbed him in the door. "Come in." Xander answered. Allen's head poked in the doorway with a grin on his face. "Hey, Manager Villaruel, did I disturb you?" Xander looked at him with no interest in having a conversation with him. Allen pouted as he entered the room, hands inside his pockets. "Come on, Geneva. What kind of attitude are you giving me now? What? Found someone else again? Did someone fall to you again?" "Go away." Xander slapped Allen's side who was attempting to sit on the edge of his table. "What nonsense are you talking about? Is your work done?" "Of course. You can trust me when it comes to work." Allen patted his chest with a bright smile in his place. He quoted for a second and then leaned in, smile became mysterious. "Hey, I heard, someone sent you a big gift. What is it? Are they talking about those dazzling roses in the trash bin? You threw it? How mean." Xander leaned backward, eyes were cold and strict. "Are you idle? How about I give you another job today? How about that?" Allen immediately moved away, hands refusing Xander's word. "Oh, no. No. Please, don't, sister. I am too exhausted today. Can you spare me? I thought working with you can benefit me. I can have plenty of time to rest, but hell, you are the worst one than my previous manager. You are giving me work as if I am a robot. Everyday my hands are fully occupied. I can rarely have a rest. Hey, do you think I didn't know how to get tired? I'm not a Carabao." "So you're tired?" Allen nodded. "Yeah." Xander grabbed a pen and pointed it to Allen while he rose up, drawing close to the man. "Since you're tired, then why did you not use your free time to catch a rest but instead come here and pester me? Huh?" "Aiyeh, can I just visit you and ask you for something?" Allen wrapped his arm around Xamser's shoulder. With a flirtatious wink, he said, "Guess what day is today?" Xander pinched Allen's skin to remove his arm off him, making Allen complain because of pain. "I. Am. Not. Interested." "Geneva, you're so mean. If you don't want to, just say it. Don't need to hurt me." Xander rolled his eyes. "I just pinched a tiny part of your skin. Yet, you're already reacting as if I cut your leg. What a wimp. If you have nothing important that brought you here, you better leave. The door is over there." "Hey, how could you do that to me? We are at least friends, right? I remembered everything about you. How about you? You can't just forget my birthday today, right?" Xander stared at him in a funny way. "Are you a kid?... Oh Right, how is Little Love? Did he sometimes ask you about me? It's been a while since I saw him. I quite miss him." "Come on. If you really miss him, then come home with me later. I'm going to throw a simple party at home." "That's impossible!" Xander's eyes rounded in disbelief. "What's impossible about that?" Allen observed Xander up and down. A huge crease appeared on his forehead. "Did the devil allow you to throw a party at his home? That's not like him." "Him?" Allen smirked. "Huh, even if I kneel before him, I'm pretty sure that he won't allow that." "Then how did you manage to organize a party at his home? Are you not afraid that he will ruin your party and toss all guests out of the house?" "Come on. I am throwing a birthday party just for a few of us. As for that devil that you are talking about, he is out for a business trip. He will certainly not be able to come back until tomorrow night. So the house is free to use for me tonight… so tell me, are you coming or not?" It took Xander a few seconds before he spoke. "Alright. Count me in. But make sure he won't be at home tonight. Otherwise, I'll make your head bald." "Eh, you are so scary." Allen rubbed his arms, acting that he was scared. "Auh, I still have work to do." Xander pushed Allen out of the office. "Leave me alone first." "Hey, I'm not done yet—" Allen did not manage to finish his words. Xander immediately closed the door. "What a heartless woman. How could she bear to just throw me out of her office? The." Allen mumbled before he reluctantly left the office.
