"Little Love, we're home. Get down." Allen poked his head inside the car when he noticed that the kid didn't get down from the car. When he saw him inside, he wanted to laugh.
The kid just sat inside the car—quiet and composed. But he refused to get down as he had no desire to go home. Although the kid was not talking, Allen knew he still wanted to stay on Geneva's side. The worst thing was that he wished to come home with Geneva.
"Little Love, you can't be willful. Geneva can't be with you this time right away. She still has some things to settle at home. Besides, I also have some important things to report to your father. I can't possibly decide on my own when it comes to you. I'll be dead."
The kid turned a deaf ear. As if Allen was only talking to the air.
"Little Love, let's go. It's also late. Your father will get angry." Allen stretched out his hand to get the kid but he still refused to obey.
Suddenly, the rain came and loud raindrops dropped on the roof of the car. And Allen was soaked wet right away because of it.
"Come down, hurry. It's now raining!"
"What happened?" A cold voice suddenly came behind Allen.
Without looking back, Allen knew who owned such an emotionless voice. He looked over, wiped the rain water on his face and sighed in relief. Thankfully, this cold and thoughtless father brought an umbrella so he could take the kid without worrying that the kid would get drench in the rain and feel sick.
"He won't come down." Allen said helplessly. "I can't bring him down. It's getting colder and colder. I'm afraid he will get sick. Uncle, you take him home. I can't do anything about his stubbornness."
The handsome face of the man turned darker. He silently walked over and crouched down, checking on the kid inside. Before speaking to his own son, he gave a sideways glance at Allen. "You go back home first. Ask the kitchen to prepare ginger soup and get dressed."
"Oh thanks God. I'm finally free." Allen said in relief as if he was just given an amnesty. Without waiting for them, he hurried inside the house.
Chen Lei ignored him and faced the kid. "Come here."
The kid just cast a glance at his father but ignored him.
Chen Lei's eyes narrowed, face became more stern. "I hate to repeat myself. Come here. Let's come in."
The kid ignored him again.
"Chen Bao Ai! You really won't listen to me anymore?" Chen Lei said in a threatening tone. "Will you come down by yourself or you want me to drag you down?"
The kid looked at him and kicked the seat in front of him. Rage overtook his face. He was obviously not afraid of his father. Instead of following his father's words, especially as he saw how angry he was already, the kid even showcase his own anger.
"So you're throwing a tantrum at me again, huh? What? Is playing around for a half a day with her not enough?" Chen Lei gritted his teeth. "Why don't you just go home with her?"
The kid gave him a 'I will be grateful if you take me to her' face.
Chen Lei's jaws moved inside, holding back his anger. He couldn't believe that his own son would be even willing to stay with a stranger than him who was his own father. Chen took a deep breath and then laughed which confused the kid but he didn't show it openly. "Chen Bao Ai, do you think you're becoming more and more stubborn? Don't test my patience. Come over here and go in! Or I will let you stay here forever!"
The kid just ignored his father's fierceness. He suddenly opened the door and sprinted out, running away from his father under the rain.
Chen Lei was shocked. He reacted a bit late so the kid managed to run off. He knocked his forehead and chased after him, throwing the umbrella on the road.
"Chen Bao Ai, stop right there!" Chen Lei yelled as he chased him but his yell only went in vain as it was drowned out by the strong rain and honks of the passing cars. The worst part was that, due to the bad weather and dark night, he lost sight of his son.
Anxiety came creeping down his spine. If something happened to his son, how was he going to live?
He was indeed cold and strict in raising his son, but he was not heartless. Pain was not exemption to him.
"What the hell is this kid doing? Did he want to kill me this way?" Chen Lei spurned his foot on the floor. "The weather is getting colder, what if he catches a cold? Auh, what a headache."
Chen Lei hurriedly went back home and called his men. "You guys come out and get my son back!"
Allen was initially resting in the guest room but he didn't feel right and so he came downstairs wearing a cream robe only. By then, he saw that Chen Lei ordered his men to get the kid back, drenched and looking messy. Even so, he was still looking devilishly handsome as usual. In fact, his messy looks only added to his seductiveness and charm.
Allen frowned. "Uncle, how did you end up like that? What happened? Where's Little Love?" Allen stretched his neck out everywhere to check on the kid but he found no shadow of him and so he became anxious. "Why can't I find Little Love?"
Chen Lei closed his eyes, massaged his temples, and sighed. "He ran off again."
"What?" Allen exclaimed, shocked. "How could you—" He paused and turned to the guards of his uncle. "What are you waiting for? Luther Spark, Go! Bring your subordinates and get Little Love back! Hurry! It's raining so badly, God, what if he gets sick!"
"Yes." Luther Spark bowed and gestured to his men to come with him. "Follow me."
"What just happened?" Allen inquired at Chen Lei when everybody finally left. "Weren't he just fine earlier? How did things turn suddenly like this? Why did he run away?"
Chen Lei sat down, crossed his legs, and looked at him coldly. "Didn't you know already? Why keep asking?"
"That is it!" Allen pointed at him. "It's because of your attitude that the kid ran away again. You scare him, don't you? If I had known, I wouldn't have left him to you."
Chen Lei shot him a stern glimpse, face cold and fierce. "You're blaming me?"
"I'm too lazy to argue with you." Allen looked at Chen Lei frustratingly and then turned away, walking back upstairs.
Chen Lei leaned his back against the couch and closed his eyes, sighing inwardly.
