Chapter 73: You Are Too Weak

The time passed by and the rain continued to drop so strongly. The breeze was extremely cold and the outside was finally occupied by darkness and fog.

The surrounding outside was almost invisible.

Despite the rain, at last, the village got back the tranquility they used to have when no bad guys were there to destroy it and hurt the villagers.

Xander and others did nothing to the villagers. But, his past with them was something they were unable to forget. His past in that place with the people was horrible. He couldn't change it just like that so easily however he compensated them.

Initially, Xander went to that place to visit someone. But until that time, he could not visit that someone because of the presence of the devil. Xander really hated him to the bones. If Xander ran into him before, perhaps, he had killed him already. Because before, he was like a living robot. He has no feeling, no sympathy, and was used to brutality.

The villagers stayed only inside their houses. No one was outside as water flooded the village raising up their ankles. Of course, the main reason was that they were afraid to come out and ran into someone cruel. The waterflow was smooth and so accidents or troubles did not happen.

The outside of the house only has the sound of pit-pottering of the rain and hiss of the wind. It should be their time to lie down and hide under the blanket in order to warm themselves just like what the villagers did. They hid in their rooms together and remained awake, behaving vigilant of the situation. As if they were in a place where war was breaking out and waiting for their chance to escape. However, one of the small and old hut in the London Village was under the intense yet silent tension.

Men were unable to communicate with each other peacefully. Thus, to avoid further trouble, the two of them just kept their distance from a certain person. They completely ignored him though his presence was hard to ignore.

Chen Lei was like a magnet attracting everyone.

Their presence in the house was initially not a big deal. They could just talk things through and communicate peacefully. But a certain person made the surroundings suffocating and unpeaceful. Men were fighting over something they should not in the first place. It was all thanks to Chen Lei— the wealthy, handsome devil of the entire universe.

Nightfall came and each of them found a place to sit leisurely. Jasper sat on the floor near the room's door, obviously determined to protect Xander from an insane man. Arthur leaned on the table and fell asleep with a blanket draping around his back. While Chen Lei sat upright with eyes closed. As if he was just meditating and not sleeping.

Chen Lei was like a monument of a King. He slept peacefully though he was just sitting and he looked so stunning and sexy with his eyes closed. His appearance at the moment was indeed peaceful and innocent. As if he was a man who could not bear to kill an ant. He looked so gentle and kind-hearted, so sweet and tame.

Suddenly, a wind blew through the window and Chen Lei was splashed with tiny droplets of water along with a freezing touch of the wind. Even so, he did not flinch even just a little. He opened his eyes slowly and stood up, taking away the box of fried chicken they intently left for Xander to eat when he finally cooled down.

Seeing it still intact, Chen Lei thought of bringing it to him inside the room. Though he felt that he was unable to see him without force.

When he was making his way to the room, Chen Lei had no plan to hide his presence to avoid waking up the police guarding the door. But just like how he used to, he walked elegantly with precise and light steps. Like only his toes were treading on the floor. He was more like floating in the air.

Jasper, though asleep, sensed someone's presence coming. It was just faint and barely recognisable but he still managed to grasp a small detail of it. And that detail was enough for him to wake up as he was also among those people who was a light-sleeper.

Jasper frowned to see Chen Lei before his eyes. Seeing him coming over, Jasper stood up right away, arm stretching out blocking Chen Lei. Then the two gave each other a gaze that could kill a wimpy person— firm, threatening, and sharp.

"Move aside." Chen Lei said, voice was cold and threatening.

Jasper did not cower at all. He neither blinked nor moved and spoke, he just kept his eyes on that certain man. He behaved like a real and royal bodyguard of Xander.

Jasper respected Chen Lei a lot before. But by that time, he had no plan on submitting himself to the man who was right before him. Since their silence earlier, he kept thinking why he was so disappointed towards Chen Lei. The man was known to be ruthless and rude towards others, and a lot more of his negative sides. But it did not mean he hated that attitude because first of all, he admired that personality of the man before.

How about that now?

What just happened exactly?

Why did he easily give up his admiration to the man and that feeling was quickly replaced with wariness, and dissatisfaction?

It was weird. Jasper found himself acting weird. No matter what he thought of the possible reasons why his idol actually angered him, he gained nothing apart from the pain of racking his brain.

What's wrong with him?

"President Chen, don't be willful. Please leave right now. I don't want to start a fight. Please be a man and stop acting childish." Jasper said firmly.

"Childish?... Hmmm, interesting. You seem not afraid of me, huh."

"Afraid?" Jasper softly laughed. "That word doesn't exist in my dictionary.

Chen Lei raised a brow. "So, are you telling me you won't leave?”

"Yes. You can think that way." Jasper looked over and stared at the closed door for a second. "It is obvious that he is avoiding you and doesn't want to see you. He is now my friend and Geneva's friend, so I will stop you from harassing him as much as I can."

Chen Lei's eyes narrowed upon mentioning the name Geneva but he did not linger on that matter. He slightly smirked and refused a warning air in the entire house. "What if I insist? What can you do to me?”

"Then, you have to pass through me. I, Jasper, don't fear anyone, even towards a man like you."

The two of them took a few seconds in silence. After that silence, Chen Lei and Jasper took a move simultaneously. Two powerful pairs of arms clashed at each other, launching an attack one after another. Both of them threw punches that carried strong invisible waves caused by their internal energy they exerted.

The two interlocked their arms, glared at each other unblinkingly. However, unlike Chen Lei who remained calm and composed, gorgeous and unbothered as ever, Jasper was already losing energy, panting as he tried his best to counterattack the abnormal might of his opponent.

"Weird. He is so strong. Did he practice martial arts too?" Jasper thought as he hardly kept up with the other man. Jasper admitted that Chen Lei was not easy to deal with. Chen Lei was not just a genius entrepreneur, but also a good and strong fighter. Although, himself, was used to fighting and always chasing after criminals, he knew he was unable to withstand such strength as Chen Lei for so long.

Jasper could fight on him for a while but not for so long. But of course, it's not his habit to just give up without trying. He has no plan of giving up though he could tell that the opponent was not even using half of his overall strength.

The rumor was really true. Chen Lei was as tough as a rock mountain. A legendary man and King of mystery. No one was unable to guess what his flaws were and what things he was unable to do.

"Are you sure you can fight me?" Chen Lei asked.

"Shut up! Why don't you just try?" Jasper replied and the two fought once more seriously.

Chen Lei abruptly pushed Jasper and swung his leg forcefully, then foot stepping on Jasper's back, pinning him down straighway. Like a frog trampled by an ogre.

Chen Lei looked like he was just stepping on him lightly. From the view of the onlooker, only the tip of his toes were touching on Jasper's back and Jasper could no longer stand no matter how he tried. As if the world crashed on him mercilessly.

"You are too weak and slow. You are no match for me." Chen Lei said plainly "I wonder how you become a police officer. If I we're the director, I would have fired you. What a useless thing."

"You—” Jasper frustratingly gave up from attempting to stand. He could do nothing but accept the humiliation.

Arthur was startled by the loud thud by the time Jasper fell on floor. He rose up half-awake and became fully awake as his eyes landed on the two of them. He subconsciously threw away the blanket off his body and ran to them, planning to stop the fight. He was not worried for his boss as he was clear how excellent the devil was in fighting."Chen Lei, what are you doing? You can't be—”

Arthur's next words were swallowed back in his throat when the door in that only room opened suddenly and a gush of wind dashed towards Chen Lei.

Chen Lei was trailed off backward and Xander's figure was dragging him off Jasper. Xander carried a strong aura that only himself could bring and Chen Lei only allowed him to take him away though he could do something to throw Xander off himself if he still wanted to fight. Instead of retaliating, Chen Lei hugged the man's waist, smiling arrogantly.

Jasper looked up in shock and Arthur was stunned. Both of them had thoughts running wildly in their minds.

Without blinking, they thought something.

In the mind of Jasper, "Such aura, why is that so familiar? I think I have felt that before? Auh, that's right. Geneva can also exude such aura— fresh, powerful, and oppressive. Could it be the— nonsense! How is that possible? Right. They were cousins so it's not surprising that they both have such aura. But… Why did he let Chen Lei bully him earlier? Could it be that was their way of showing their affections? Impossible! No! Impossible! What did I do? Did I make a mistake? Weird."

In the mind of Arthur, "That aura... I think I now know who this person was. I have felt that just long ago and now here she is. No wonder he is so possessive towards him. So it's actually her. What a flawless and deceitful disguise. Even though I was deceived by her."

Xander pressed Chen Lei on the wall, body pressing rightly at each other.

"What did you do again this time?” Xander said, rage erupted in his eyes and it was evident from how his heart pounded so fast. He was clenching his fists tightly, holding in his desire to kill the devil in front of him. " Will you not stop until I die?"

”Pssh, don't say unpleasant words." Chen Lei covered Xander's lips with his index finger and then smiled mischievously, planting a quick kiss on his nose. "You finally came out from that cage."

Xander wiped his nose and pushed himself away. "Chen Lei, what should I do for you to stop behaving this way? Do you think I will be happy seeing you around? Do you think I will be happy with this childish behavior of yours? I have been holding in. I have had enough of you! I'm sick of you! Go to Hell! Damn it!" Xander nodded, smiling bitterly. "This is just right. I almost forgot. Why bother begging you? This is clearly what you want… To torture me."

"Is that what you really think of me?" Chen Lei slightly frowned, and he raised the box. "You speak too much. I am just planning to send you some food to fill your stomach. It's been a long day since you have eaten something."

"You're worried about me?”

"Emmm, you can say that. But not literally." Chen Lei did not admit it directly and just grinned.

A quick and short laugh came from Xander's mouth. And the next thing he did surprised everyone.

"Who said I need your food?” Xander knocked the box and it fell on the floor.

Chen Lei's face darkened from what Xander did to the food. Of course, Xander felt guilty and sorry for the food. Since it was innocent, nothing to do with their argument, and precious to everyone at all. Even so, he did not think of apologising. He wanted to show to the man that he meant his every word and action.

As for the two, they just stood in their places and watched the show. No one was planning to interfere anymore as long as it was unnecessary for them to do so.

"What did you do?" Chen Lei asked shortly after. Voice cold and low but everyone could tell how angry he was. He was just suppressing his anger through gritting his teeth.

"It seems like he can't bring himself to hurt him." Jasper thought. "If that's the case. I don't need to get in between them."

"Am I not clear enough?” Xander shouted. " I hate you! I despise you! I don't want to see you! Get away from me!"

Chen Lei took a minute before he could speak again. Still cold and expressionless. "Do you have to act like that? Don't you know that my patience can run out too? I advise you, watch your mouth."

"Don't speak anymore! I don't want to hear your voice! It's hateful!" Xander extended a hand, stopping Chen Lei from speaking any further. It would only worsen the unpleasant feeling he had for the man. He closed his eyes, panting, trying to calm down his heart.

Chen Lei just stared at him, not urging Xander. As for the other two, they just stayed at the same position and same place as before, pretending that they had their own business.

Jasper was not thinking of resigning at Chen Lei. But he was also not a nosy man. He knew when to interfere and to stop.

Xander was gasping for breath once more because of frustration. He took a deep breath and spoke calmly as best as he could. "President Chen, can you please do me a favor?”

"What is it?" Chen Lei replied, face showed his disinterest in the subject.

"From now on, let's have our life separately. Please, stay away from me." Xander said, eyes focused on the man as he wanted to tell him through his eyes that he was not being impulsive. That he was not joking. That everything he said was what his heart really meant. "Don't appear in front of me ever again. Please, I'll die if you keep doing this. Can you bear that?”

Chen Lei remained silent.

"Can you do that favor for me? I beg you." Xander repeated.

"No! I can't do that!” Chen Lei seriously replied. There's no trace of joke or reluctance in his eyes. "Do you think you can hide from me? You are not allowed to be out of my sight. Never."

"That's ridiculous!" Jasper could not help but interject. "Is he your stuff? Is he your property? Is he an object that you can carry as you wish? Hey, come on! How can you confine him like that? He is a person with own feelings and aspirations in life, doing this is no different from killing him. President Chen, your feelings towards him are no longer love or affection. That is called an obsession. That's scary."

"Are you tired of living?” Chen Lei cast Jasper a cold yet carried a murderous air. "Did I allow you to speak?”

"Come on! Kill me!”

"Psshh, enough! Don't interfere." Arthur pulled Jasper next to him by his shirt. "Let them settle their problems."

Jasper shook Arthur's hand, snorting. "You and him are lunatic."

"Yes. Yes. We are lunatics. But please calm down." Arthur said. "You are not needed between them. Don't waste your effort. No one can stop him or change his mind to do something on the things he is interested in."

"President Chen, if you won't leave, I will. Hope you will be stuck in this place forever." Xander quickly made his way towards the door and Chen Lei did not even move to stop him while the two were looking at Chen Lei indifferently.

Xander was about to open the door when they suddenly heard several men calling a certain someone's name endlessly.

"Young master! Young master! Where are you?"

"Boss, this is Luther! Where are you guys?”

"Young Master! Young Master!"

Flashlights brightened outside and passed through the holes everywhere in the bamboo walls. They looked like the lights of a laser, tiny broken lights.

"It's Luther and others. They are finally here." Arthur heaved a sigh of relief. He then rushed towards the door and opened it, shouting, enough to hear his voice by that group of people looking at them under the rain. "Luther, we're here!”
