When Geneva arrived at their meeting place, the private room that they booked was still empty. It only meant that she came a bit early.
Geneva couldn't sit still inside. The place was so big and so it was oddly quiet. What was more, a lonely place or an empty room always made her feel uncomfortable. That was her old problem. It always reminded her of her terrible past or her painful memories. It always made her feel that she was meant to be abandoned by anyone.
"It won't happen. They will come. They surely will." Geneva mumbled to herself. She shook her head to get rid of her unpleasant thoughts and then pulled a sit from such a huge dining table.
To divert her attention from her abnormal thoughts, she picked up a magazine and flipped to read it only to scare herself. The moment she opened it, the painful memories of her past replayed in her mind. That special night which turned into a heartbreak moment and that unforgettable day that turned to be her most scariest and tragic moment came barging in her mind and it was very painful. Like a million knives that were ruthlessly stabbed to the deep of her bones. It was bone-breaking not just in her head but also in her heart.
She felt she couldn't breathe anymore. She held her head with her one hand and she held her chest with the other hand. And she was chasing after her breathing. As if the oxygen in the room was slowly dissipating and was trying to choke her to death.
Geneva reached out for a glass of water. With much difficulty, she managed to take it and drank a little using her trembling hand. When she was trying to put down the glass after a drink, it slipped from her hands and fell on the floor, shattering.
Geneva screamed in shock. Just as she was huddling at the bottom of the table, the door suddenly pushed open. And there, Allen's figure popped in.
Allen was wearing blue sleeves and black pants and he was looking so handsome and fresh. He was also wearing his same spectacles as a disguise. On his face, a great mood was evident. However, when he heard and saw what occurred inside, his handsome face distorted in worry.
"Geneva!" Allen yelled as he hurriedly came over. He placed his hand on Geneva's back comfortably as he spoke, "What happened? Are you alright? Should I take you to the hospital?"
Geneva raised her head. There were tears and fear in her eyes. When she saw that Allen came, her heart was calming a little bit but she was unable to calm down completely. Just how she was like before. Every time her mental problem relapses, she has to take a long time to recover.
"You- you came. Thanks- thanks God." Geneva said with much difficulty.
"What's wrong with you? What just happened here?" Allen frowned as he noticed the shattered glass on the floor. "Do you want me to help you get some water?"
Geneva shook her head. "No thanks." Then her sight passed through Allen's shoulder, searching for someone. When she found that the person she was expecting to see was nowhere to be seen, her heart completely broke and she fell on her butt. She was about to break down when the door suddenly opened again and a small silhouette wearing a white blouse and blue jeans stepped in.
The little thing was initially happy to see her. But when he saw Geneva on the floor in her bad state, his face became worried.
Geneva thought that the kid would dislike her seeing such a condition but she didn't expect that he would run over and hugged her tightly and warmly which appeased the discomfort, fear, and pain in her heart.
"You guys really came. Thank God." Geneva smiled as tears rolled down her cheeks. "Thank God you really came. I thought you're not coming anymore."
Allen frowned. "What are you thinking? You thought we won't come? Don't tell me you become like this because of that absurd thinking?"
Geneva smiled and felt ashamed at the same time while hugging the kid. "Do I look so foolish? I'm sorry you guys saw me in this state. But thanks, I feel a lot more comfortable now."
"Then let's sit properly." Allen offered a hand. "Come, let me help you up. Little Love, let go of her first."
Instead of letting her go, the kid tightened his embrace even more. As if he was afraid that she would run away. The adults didn't have an idea that he was so worried and so he feared to let go in worry that something would go wrong again.
"Little Love, I said let her go first." Allen tried to pull the kid off her but he refused. "What's wrong with this kid? Don't you think you're a bit clingy?"
Geneva shook her head. "It's fine. I can just carry him up."
"You're not fine." Allen insisted. "Have you not realized how pathetic you look earlier? Don't act brave. I'm actually planning to bring you to the hospital. Yesterday you fainted and now you're like this. What's if it's serious."
"You're thinking too much." Geneva rolled her eyes and rose up. She was actually planning to carry the kid on his seat but the little thing broke free from her hold and helped her up instead. He even ushered her to her seat and sat beside her, staring at her intently.
Geneva smiled. "Thanks darling."
"So you got some conscience, huh." Allen pulled a chair to himself. "I thought you're going to let a sick person carry you for a day."
"Can you stop mentioning it?" Geneva glared at him secretly. "It's embarrassing."
Allen smirked. "It looks like you're really fine. You're fierce to me again. So scary."
"Allen! Don't ruin my image in front of the kid."
Allen pouted. "Do you think he will care? Look at him, he can't even take his eyes off at you. Geneva, what did you feed him to make him so reliant on you?"
"Maybe it's because of my extraordinary charm." Geneva ruffled the kid's hair and smiled proudly at Allen.
Allen pointed at her hand, eyes rounded in surprise. "Look! Look at him. He even let you touch his hair!"
"Is that surprising?" Geneva frowned.
"Come on! I'm telling you. He never let other people touch his hand, let alone touching his hair. You are the first one."
"Really? Then I'm blessed."
