Chapter Twenty Nine

''Calm down,Luke.Please.''Amelia spoke up,placing her hand on his shoulder.She could feel his fear and confusion,see the pain in Zero's eyes at his best friend's unorthodox question.If only they knew worse things were coming.....

''Yes Lucas.Please relax and let us explain everything.''Reina said,pointing to the metallic dining furniture where they all headed.Amelia sat with Luke who was a bit reluctant at first but soon enough gave in.Zero followed suit,sitting on the other side with Reina,William standing right behind her after whispering something in her ear.The two best friends gazed at each other,each wary of the others emotions as an unspeakable realization hit them both.

''We should have breakfast first as we talk....''Reina spoke up,nodding over to Gail who silently went back into the house.Zero glanced at Reina who looked as flawless as she did before unlike he did,sweaty and flushed as he was.

''Please....Just tell me what's going on....Everything.''Luke said,the exhaustion in his voice quite evident. Reina sighed,running a hand through her hair before glancing at Amelia and Zero in turn.

''He already knows half the truth....Its best that you tell him all of it.''Amelia replied with a shrug. Reina turned to Zero who nodded.

''If I do this,there is no turning back...He will be a part of this life too..His fate will be entwined with ours for good.''Reina stated,looking at the two best friends in turn.

''Do it.''Zero said,holding Luke's questioning look.With a sigh and a nod,she leaned back on her chair.

''If we're going to do this then we need to start from the beginning....''Reina began,glancing at William who only nodded indistinctly.

''It all began in 1824 when three prestigious men from three prominent families were quite pleased with the progress of their fortune and renowned family names.All their dreams and wishes had come true and they were content with it.At least two of them were.One of the three felt that they could get more.And it was that he went for a walk that same night and stumbled upon a cottage in the woods.Seeing as it was about to rain and he was a far distance away from his mansion,he decided to take refuge in it.Heading over,he knocked on the door and alas,a dazzling beauty opened the door for him.She had lush blonde curls and the most beautiful green eyes he had set her eyes on.He eventually found his voice and explained his situation....''She paused just as Gail and two other maids walked in,carrying their breakfast which they set down on the table hurriedly before scampering off,each seeming scared if not flushed by all the happenings around.All but Gail who gave a silent apology for their behavior.

''Its fine Gail.Thank You.''William said with a nod that Reina mirrored before Gail walked away.

''She was very nice and allowed him safe haven in her house up until the morning.She gave him some food to eat and a place to sleep.They had a nice conversation and he liked her very much.She made him realize that they needed nothing more than to live life as it is.To be happy with what you have.It was like she spoke to his deepest fears and what he'd been thinking of ever so often.He had heard about people living in the forest,heard many awful things about them like they may be witches but he found it hard to believe now that he was right there with them.....with her.He left in the morning after meeting the rest of her colleagues and having a wonderful breakfast with them.He had a completely new outlook in life.He narrated the whole story to a worried close friend who had been called by the house help when she realized her boss wasn't still sleeping.His friend didn't believe him,of course,but didn't tell him so because even if he did,it still wouldn't have stopped him from going back to see them once in a while.Then one morning,everything changed.He got a call from one of his other friends who informed him of a great business deal.Since he was a renowned business man,he was quite interested.A piece of land had just been signed over to them and they were going to check it out later and evict those living there.It was the 18th century after all so it wasn't a shock that evictions were being carried out.He didn't think much of it until the drive there.It was then that he realized that they were heading to the place he had considered his safe haven for a while,having the best moments of his life.He had no idea but he felt close to the place.He tried to hurry up but they arrived too late.The place was in chaos,the houses already destroyed ,burnt to the ground.At that moment,he saw her.The woman who had been so kind to him and had given him happiness after so many years of pain and loneliness.She was trying to ward off one of the men who was removing her things from her house which was partly burning down.She saw him too and begged him to make them stop.To help them.He stepped forward,about to intervene when his mates stopped him.They had all already signed a contract and were bound by it.He had no choice but to stay aside and that is exactly what he did.It was painful but he couldn't do anything to stop it.And it was at that point that everything changed.Their whole lives changed for her heart was hardened towards the three of them.The three most prestigious family heads of Caldwell.They knew the truth of who the people in the forest really were for she cursed them.Cursed them with s*****y to the sun,to never be able to see the light of day again,to thirst for blood which will turn them into savages.Monsters.Predators.It was a curse that even their riches couldn't stop.And since they had touched her family too,she included their families.Their bloodlines.And worst of all,she cursed them with death,that they shall no longer be mortals but pale colored beasts who shall always never know peace or lasting happiness.And at that very moment,the three fell down and died.They woke up a week later,having being housed by their most trusted companion in secret for the rest of Caldwell believed that they were in deep commas that they couldn't possibly wake up.They woke up to cold and death as did their children.They searched for the witch but the only thing they found out about her was her name.Amanda Walker,also known as the First Witch,the most powerful of witches.''

''They,at first,felt the weight of the curse but eventually got the hang of it but not before they turned a couple of humans,making them one of their kind.They decided to live their lives but their s*****y to the sun was a problem so they found witches who had powerful bloodlines and they made them find solutions to that part of the curse which in turn led to Daylight rings..Like this one......which assisted them to walk in the sun and act as if everything was normal for some of the town's people were having their suspicions as word about the drama in the forest had spread.Especially those who were observant enough.Some of their kind had lost it and went on a killing spree,murdering humans and draining their blood.Some did it to feed while others were just the true embodiment of the curse.The sight of draining a mortal's blood was quite intoxicating for them.Kinda still is.......either way,It was a massacre.They had become monsters who could now walk in the day and do as they please for they were immortal,an oversight of the witch Amanda who also seemed to forget that every spell had a consequence,especially one as powerful as the one she did.It was when they had began to go after the witches who had done this to them that Amanda reappeared once more and did one final spell.A spell that would ensure the creatures would have their match and the witch's safety.She created Hunters,mortals with incredible strength,speed and a gift known as Spirit energy that made them virtually worthy adversaries for the creatures.And indeed they were as they destroyed quite a number of them as did the creatures too.It was only after the signing of the Accords during the Century War that ensured peace between Vampires,Lycanthropes,witches and Hunters that they began walking along.The Vampires came under the leadership of the Royals,the first three family heads,who headed the Aristocratic,the Civilian,Shadow and Stray Vampires.Civilians live life as normal as possible with other humans,getting their blood from blood bags from Hospitals or feeding from animals which isn't very famous though.Strays,the vampires from last night,are brutes who have completely lost their humanity and kill only because it served their purpose for they're addicted to drinking from the vein,the feeling of life getting drained out from the human's body and the sound of blood being sucked out of a live being.They were,of course,dealt with accordingly,the Royals ensuring that they behaved according to the Accords....Peace thrived between the supernatural creatures up until now....As most of you must have felt the imbalance and seen last night's scene,then you must realize that everything has changed.Another war is coming,people......And so,Lucas,you wanted to know the truth,I am a Vampire.A Royal Vampire.I am Lady Reina Gremory,as you must have figured from Zachary's journals.He is William Lorcan....Your friend here though isn't like me but my complete opposite.He is none other than Lord Zero Black,son of Lord Zachary Black and part of one of the most powerful of families of his kind.He is a Hunter......I trust I was comprehensive enough..''Reina finished,gazing at everyone in turn before landing her gaze squarely on Luke.He nodded slowly as silence engulfed them all.

''I think I need a shot of what you're drinking.''Luke spoke up,gesturing at Reina's cup that William had handed over to her during the conversation.

''Oh,I doubt you would like what I'm drinking...''She replied with a slight smile,turning to William.

''There is some tea here if you'd like me to pour some for you..''Amelia was saying when he shook his head.

''I think he needs something stronger..''Zero said with a grin that Luke reflected with an appreciative nod as a secret understanding passed between them.Their bond was back.

''Get Mr Mason a shot of tequila....''she ordered but paused and changed her mind at the sight of his sudden pale complexion,''make that a bottle.''William nodded with a slight bow before walking off back into the house.

''Is all of this true?''he directed his question to Zero who nodded,running a hand through his hair.

''Jesus......I mean,Amelia did try to explain something like this but I never did take her seriously.''Luke said,getting up and standing a few ft away from them.Zero glanced at Reina,the question in his eyes not lost on her.

''Oh..Forgive my manners.....This is Lady Amelia Walker,the last surviving direct descendant of the Walker bloodline.A very powerful Witch and also a very good friend of your father's.''Reina said,watching as Zero and Amelia shook hands.

''I am very sorry for your loss and very glad that you're alive.''Amelia said with a silent nod and simple smile.

''Thank you.''Zero acknowledged,still as intrigued with her as he had been at the party.

''Wait,so yesterday you were turning into a Hunter thus the whole...ummm......change.....''Luke said,gesturing at his whole body.Zero nodded once more,still not being able to find his tongue to speak to his own best friend.

''And she helped you?''

''Yes.Listen Luke,I'm sorry for pulling you into this..''Zero was saying when Luke interrupted.

''Sorry?Dude...this is amazing!Its beyond my wildest dreams..I mean,I used to be the kid with the fantasy notions in his head about this kind of stuff and when we started heading in that direction,I couldn't believe it at first but now that I'm actually seeing all this........I am starting to Believe...I mean,dude,you are a freaking Hunter!And she's a real Vampire!I knew you weren't human.....And she......she's a witch which is beyond awesome!All this is Out of this World!And I just need a moment to process it all...''Luke replied,his eyes all lit up like the fourth of July.Zero gazed at him,completely dazed.He certainly wasn't expecting his reception to the whole thing to be that good.

''Hey,are you sure you aren't...you know.....in shock?Because its understandable .This is a lot to take in.''Zero said,watching as Luke took a big gulp of the tequila that William had just proffered.

''No,I'm not in shock.This has been like a life long dream of intellects from the past.And now I get to experience it first hand before they do!Okay,so I'm a bit baffled and dangerously near a cardiac arrest but I believe I will survive.''He said,taking another sip.

''I believe you just pushed him into shock.''Amelia said just as Reina chuckled,clearly amused.

''He'll be fine,believe me.He's taking this very well.Others usually react way worse.''she replied,shivering involuntarily.Amelia glanced at Reina,giving her a warning look as the latter rolled her eyes at her.

''Wait...I'm curious.......the three men that were turned into Vampires by the vindictive Witch...No offense,Amelia....were they the middle aged dapper men I saw from last night?...''Luke brought up suddenly,turning to Reina.

''Yes. Zorin Demonaire was the one who found the land and took it and Saber Leviathan was the other quiet billionaire who rarely said anything...''Reina explained,straying off.

''And the third...''Luke prompted,watching as Reina gazed at her daylight ring reflectively.

''Lord Rhoan Remus Gremory. My Father.He was the one who found Amanda Walker that day.He was the one who wished for more and boy did he get it.....''Reina said,a sarcastic laugh escaping her lips.They all glanced at each other uneasily,neither willing to expound more on the topic.

''So what now?''Zero spoke up first,gazing at the others in turn.Amelia shrugged,turning to Reina.

''Now we find your Father's murderer...''she replied,looking up at them...............
