Third-person  Every night for the last year has been the same. The same dream filled my nights. It was hard to ignore the warning. Making my way back to the home we ran from years ago, I stayed close for when the time came. I hadn't gotten the opportunity to teach my daughter of her heritage, but I was hoping to make up for that by teaching my great-granddaughter everything I knew before my time on this planet was up. Unfortunately, my dear husband had passed just before the dreams started. I know if he were still here, he would fight me on this. But why fight fate? It was too late. The prophecy was already coming to pass. All that was left was to ensure my great-granddaughter had the help she would need when the time came. It would not be an easy task, but it was one I was willing to risk everything for. As the time grew closer and the more wolves arrived, the more I worried I alone would not be enough. My fear was short-lived, though. Just three days before the day my dreams said I would be needed, the dream changed slightly. And I found myself standing face to face with a dozen fellow witches. I would not be alone when the time came. Others would be there to help me. Waking, I felt as though I wasn't alone. Sitting up in my bed, I slowly climbed from the bed I once shared with my husband. Pulling my robe over my nightdress, I walked from my room, making my way downstairs. Standing in my front room were several women I had only seen in my dream just moments ago. All of them turned to me as I reached the last step, smiles spread across their faces. A calm fell over me as I took them all in. One of the women stepped forward away from the rest. She was closer to my own age with pier white hair that was pulled into a tight bun at the back of her head. "We are the first coven. We are bound to protect the true high priestess as she comes of age. With your help, she will be able to bring peace to the world once again." I was taken back. I had only heard stories of the first coven, the coven in which the last seer had been born from, and the prophecy had come. But the stories spoke as though the coven was long gone. But here they stood. Their numbers were not large, but they were powerful. There was no doubt about that. I could feel the energy radiating off of them. Out of respect for them, I lowered my head slightly. "Thank you so much for coming. I have dreamed of all of you. Please make yourselves at home." The older woman nodded her head, the others behind her began moving throughout the house. "Thank you. There is a lot to get ready and only a few short days left to do so." I nodded my agreement.  With that, we all began our preparations. Our timing had to be just right. One second after midnight on my great-granddaughters eighteenth birthday, and it would be too late. We had to get close enough to the wolves without being detected. We agreed it would be in her best interest to protect the pack she grew up in as well as her. If she was to lose anyone she loved, it could change the course of the future. It was tradition for the wolves to have the alpha's children stand in front of the whole pack and other alpha's and their children when the clock struck twelve o'clock in the morning. As the day of their birth and the full moon that marked their first shift started, they would experience their first shift. At the same time, not only would my great-granddaughter shift, but she would experience the first of her powers, revealing to every alpha in attendance just who she was. Until she had full control of her powers and found her mate, she would be vulnerable and would need protection.  Leaving my home one hour before the stroke of midnight, we made our way to the wolves' borders. Just before crossing the border, we separated, creating a circle around where the wolves stood in a large clearing. Standing at the front of the large group was my granddaughter. She looked so much like her mother. It brought tears to my eyes. Standing next to her was her alpha mate on one side and her father with alpha blood on the other. A few feet in front of them stood my great-grandchildren, ready for their first shifts. Facing them standing in two long rows were the alpha's and their children from all over the world that came to witness and hoped their own children would be mated to one of the two twins that stood in front of them. Just behind the alpha's and their children stood the rest of my granddaughter's pack. There were so many of them. So many would be helpless to protect themselves against so many alphas. Now in position, we readied ourselves as the time grew closer. It was crucial that we not reveal ourselves before the stroke of midnight. And yet, it was imperative that our spell of protection for The Nightmoon Pack was cast not a second after midnight. The timing was everything, all it would take was one of us not to be ready, and all would be lost.  One minute to midnight, and we began. We all looked to the moon with arms raised as we began the spell sending an invisible shield around the pack. As we focused all our energy on the shield for the pack, we sacrificed our own protection allowing the wolves to sense our presence. The moment our own protection spells no longer had the energy to hold up, the moment every wolf in attendance saw us for who we were, witches. The moment they looked around, taking in all of us, their attention was pulled back to the stage as power flew from my great-granddaughter seconds before she shifted to her wolf. Standing as tall as an alpha wolf, her eyes shone violet, indicating she was not just any wolf. Unlike all others who had either black or grey eyes, her violet was hard to miss. Especially standing against her pitch-black coat. Her twin brother stood tall at her side, his white coat in contrast to his black eyes. At the sight of her, every alpha in attendance shifted, trying to get to her. Her own father and grandfather shifted and moved to protect her next to her brother. Their move was unnecessary as the alphas connected with our protection shield not getting close enough to her.
