I have no idea what's happening, but what I'm sure of is that I'm suffering from hearing my mate cry out in pain. Callie's scream is so powerful it's shaking the walls of the dungeon and, from what James told me, the whole packhouse as well. When she collapses, I lift her up in my arms and then rush her to the hospital.
Something is not right. Why did Callie react that way? And why did it happen when I touched her? She was fine before then. More questions form in my mind, but by the time I arrive at the hospital, my only priority is making sure she gets help.
"Alpha, what's wrong? Nurse, bring me a bed," Dr. Murphy commands.
A nurse arrives, rolling a bed alongside them. I'm reluctant to lay her down, but once I do, the doctor begins looking over her.
"Is this from a beating? Did someone knock her unconscious?" Dr. Murphy questions.
"She was a rouge captured this morning. Doc...she's my mate," I admit.
Dr. Murphy's expression changes to something that looks like what I'm feeling inside.
"She was in the dungeon. When I touched her, it caused her to start screaming, then her eyes became foggy, then she passed out. You also need to know she's 20, and she still hasn't heard from her wolf," I report.
"That's not possible. The only way for that to happen is if witchcraft is involved. If what you're saying is right, then when you touched her, you must've partially unlocked the curse. If we're going to help her, we're going to need a witch," Dr. Murphy explains.
Dr. Murphy examines her more closely, taking a syringe of blood while asking the nurse to hook Callie up to the machines. He orders IV fluids and other tests, which the nurse begins doing. I mind-link James.
**I need you to go to the Purple Nova Coven and bring back a witch who can give us any knowledge on curses and wolves.**
I knew it wouldn't be an issue getting help from a witch because our pack and their coven have been allies for over a hundred years. I'm normally the one to handle any affairs with the coven, but I didn't want to leave Callie's side.
I decide to stay with her until a witch arrives, which should be in about 4, possibly 5 hours, depending on how much time James needs to run there and find someone. Once he does, the witch would appear with James at the hospital instantaneously.
Part of me wants to reach out and hold onto Callie's hand, but I'm afraid of what might happen. As I wait my mind wonders about all the scenarios that had to occur for her to radiate so much power even without a wolf. With each thought, I became more frustrated because I had more questions than answers.

I wake up excited. I'm finally the Alpha.
I know exactly what I want to do first to start my reign. I look to my left to see some redhead and then to my right, where some other random brunette I hooked up with last night lies asleep. I hate to admit it, but last night was a good ceremony.
After the announcement was made, all the she-wolves were throwing themselves at me. With the stamina I have as an Alpha, I was able to go all night with these pack whores.
I get a mind link from my father to come downstairs. I push the brunette off the bed so I can get to my dresser and get some clothes. When her body thuds on the floor, she cries out, asking why I did that. I look down at her, forcing her to cower away from my gaze alone.
I put on some shorts and then head downstairs. My parents were huddled over the kitchen counter. Before my parents say anything, the prick of an Alpha from the High Crescent Moon pack comes down the stairs. He announces to us that he has business to attend to back at his pack and would be leaving.
If it weren't for my father, I would have already attacked and taken over his pack and made his b***h of a sister my f**k toy.
Once the Alpha was out of sight, my parents drop there fake smiles and look at me with concern and fear in their eyes. I don't have time for their problems. I need to get upstairs and finally take what is mine.
I knew Callie wasn't my mate, but her fear turned me on so much that it makes me hard just thinking about it. I enjoy the way she whimpers underneath my feet. I can still remember the way her body quivered as I ripped off her clothes.
The moment I smelled her fear, it made me rock hard. I was so ready to f**k her that day until mom walked in. This year, no one could stop me, and I would finish what I started so long ago.
"We have a problem, son," father speaks.
"Can't it wait like 3 hours? Where's breakfast shouldn't have been made by now? Where is she?!" I ask with anger in my voice.
Although, the thought that I can use this as an excuse to mess with her makes me even harder. I need to get to her.
"That's the problem, son... she's gone," my mother says, looking down at her coffee.
I didn't hear anything else they were trying to say. I run to Callie's room, pushing past everyone who was trying to get my attention to congratulate me. I open her door and notice that the area where she usually sleeps is empty. I let out a growl that shakes the house.
I have never been so close to getting what I want, and now that I'm able to, she's gone!
I mindlink the guards and tell them to search the whole community until she's found, and once she is, she is to be locked in the dungeon.
One way or another, I'll find you, and you'll never be able to leave again.

"Alpha, I have some troubling news. We ran a few tests just to be sure, but umm..."
"Spit it out already!" I shout.
I have no patience for anything more than answers right now.
"Well, Alpha, she seems to have large quantities of wolfsbane. It's almost as if she has been drinking and bathing in it for a long time," Dr. Murphy pauses while I catch my breath before continuing, "However, once it leaves her system, she should be able to communicate with her wolf."
How did she even get it in her system? I mind-linked George.
* George, when you captured the rouge this morning, did she have anything with her?*
**Yes a backpack** he responds.
* Bring it to the pack hospital now*
Within minutes, he arrives. I searched through Callie's backpack. It's practically empty, aside from a banana, one full bottle of water, and another almost empty water bottle. There was also a change of clothes that looked just as dirty and messy as the ones she was wearing.
I grab the full water bottle and open it. After taking a sniff of the water, I knew immediately that it was tainted. I call the doctor back in and have him confirm my suspicions by running a test on it. When he leaves, James and a female witch appear.
"Alpha, this is Carly. She's a witch and a doctor. She has seen all sorts of spells and curses cast on different types of species, ranging from wolves to fairies," James announces.
James guides her over to me, causing me to rise from my seat. I study her for a second to ensure she has good intentions before moving aside so she can check on Callie.
The moment Carly lays a hand on Callie, Carly's eyes start to roll back into her head, and her body becomes stiff like a statue. This was the first time in forever that we needed a witch, so I can't tell if this was normal or not. When she lets go of Callie, she steps in front of me with fear in her eyes.
"Alpha, she's not just a wolf. She's a hybrid and not just any other hybrid... she's enchanted," Carly says, sounding like she doesn't even believe her own words.
"What does that mean?" James asks before I can.
"I need to speak with the coven, but she might be what the prophecy speaks of. In our coven, legend tells us that one day, a pure Alpha male and a pure witch will have an heir and produce a hybrid so powerful that she will be able to stop any attack and will bring forth an alliance between covens and packs. They will also produce a new line of hybrids that will contain a new version of power and strength."
