Ivy crossed the ballroom, checking the final details for the Roaring Twenties party before guests arrived. The week had passed quickly, and all the guests were enjoying themselves. Last night around the firepit, people were excited about the costumes they’d put together on the shopping extravaganza Shelly had led in the village.
Ivy turned at the sound of footsteps. Sunny and Jamir entered the room, and her daughter wiggled her fingers in a little wave.
Sunny had gone shopping with Shelly, too. She wore a short, black sequined dress, ropes of faux pearls, and a sparkly cloche hat that she’d tucked her hair under. Her lips were bright cherry red.
“Do I look okay?” Sunny asked, drawing up her brow.
“Just perfect,” Ivy said, giving her daughter a hug. “Thanks for helping tonight.”
