Chapter 02 – A Traitor in Druvell
Keelin’s POV
Once we hit the Druvell’s rainforest in the night, my wolf Blaze started to behave strangely. It was not that war was a new thing for us, we were both fearless and didn’t think twice to sweep our opponent in second. I knew that he wasn’t anxious, but it was something new. I tried my best to link with him, but his focus was somewhere else.
With a long howl, I commanded my wolf clan to attack the Druvell. They weren’t expecting this. My spy from the kingdom that they were busy preparing for the wedding of the princess. I didn’t want to ruin the wedding, but I thought that this was the best day for an attack to claim the Druvell.
“Keelin. I feel a strong scent!” I was in the middle of the battle killing humans and looking for the king or the princess to hold to claim the throne.
“We don’t have time to play games Blaze, don’t you see that we are in a war!” I replied to him through the mind link.
“Sniff the air for a while. I feel it. The scent of a Sunflower mixed with fresh raindrops” I feel that Blaze’s attention was driving him somewhere else.
We were in a war and I sniffed the air to find that Blaze was correct. My mind started to get confused about this.
“I think it’s our mate!” Blaze’s words made me pause for a while. I sniff in the air. I can feel the scent stronger and so closer. I never thought that I was blessed with a mate!
“You are bluffing Blaze!” I snapped a soldier’s neck and threw the lifeless body towards another few humans who were fighting.
“Tell me you didn’t feel her scent. She is closer somewhere here.” Blaze was getting distracted and I felt he was going to search for our so-called mate other than winning the war.
“Blaze, focus. We are in the middle of a war and you are….”
“The princess was wounded!” Before I complete my suggestion towards Blaze my wolf ears caught something interesting I heard from my back.
The princess! She was fighting here!
And I didn’t need to look for her further. She was right behind me! How didn’t I look for my behind?
There our eyes met! I feel that Blaze came to the surface quickly when he saw that she was going to fall. It all happened so quickly that my arms were quickly picked her in bridal style. Blaze was not allowing me to decide. He was ruling in my head. My whole body tensed and strong electrical shock waves were running all over my nerves.
“She is our mate! She is wounded!”
“Blaze, give me control. I will handle the situation. We don’t need a mate! This could be a trap. I am thirty years old, how can I find a mate now?” Could be someone enchanted a spell on us.
“Don’t be a fool. There’s no age limit for wolves to find their mate. Everyone has a time. Our time is now!” Blaze was being stubborn like never before.
“Stay calm and let me handle it” Blaze and I never were bothered about a mate, but he was completely upside down when he found his mate. I still can’t believe and I wasn’t ready to accept her.
I looked at her. She was calm and she was injured by an arrow. Carrying her in my arms, climbed to a higher place where everyone could see me and did a victory howl!
My wolves heard me and they stopped the fight one by one. The castle ground was chaotic and covered with lots of human bodies and on and off I saw a few wolf bodies fallen on the ground too. Their sacrifices won’t be in vain!
“Surrender! Your princess is with me!” I roared to the battlefield. My Alpha voice was pitching high and echoing in the castle ground.
The swords fell with the metal tackling sound. I saw the painful loss in their eyes.
“I can promise that I won’t harm the princess if you lead us towards your king. I know he must be hiding somewhere like a coward” I smirk. I felt better when I insulted the king.
“I think we should hand over her to the curing hands!” Blaze mind linked me.
“What was wrong with you today Blaze? Why are you so caring towards her? We survived throughout these years without a mate, and why suddenly you started to show some concern?” I gave him a cold shoulder.
“Well I am not, but it’s the nature of us. Do whatever you want, but don’t kill her.” Blaze went back signaling me a warning that if she died we would be weak.
“Fine. Since there’s no one….”
“You don’t need to kill anymore. I am here!” I heard the King’s voice coming out from the castle doors. I looked at him with a mocking smile.
“Theodora, my sweetheart what happened to you?!” Suddenly another male voice I heard among the crowd and my eyes pointed towards a young man who was coming towards me pushing away the soldiers.
“She needs to be treated by the doctors! Look what you’ve done to her. She was going to be my bride!” He started to cry and I growled at him.
So, he was the one who was going to marry her. An amusement-mixed look appears on my face.
“You are a murderer! You almost killed my daughter!” It was the king this time.
“Stop the cursing. I am sorry that I broke the wedding, but it was my opportunity to attack the Druvell!” I narrowed my eyes on the young man who was standing in front of me.
“If anything happened to her I will not spare you!” The young man started to threaten me. I smirked first and then eventually it turned into a laugh.
Everyone was looking at each other's faces with a questioning look.
“The royal physicians will take care of her. Leave her now!” The king demanded interrupting my laugh.
“I can’t assure you whether she was going to live or not, but I can’t hand her to anyone else except my wolf doctors” I climbed down where I was standing a high.
“She is my fiancée!”
“She is my daughter! I won’t hand over her to an animal who tried to kill her!” Both the king and the young man shouted at me.
“Silence!” I snarled and the entire atmosphere changed into a pinned-drop silence.
“How dare you to speak to the king like that?” I didn’t like this young man either Blaze. I wanted to snap his neck in a second.
“She will be treated under my instructions. My physicians and nurses will be taking care of her because I value her survival for my ruling here in the Druvell!” I gave a victory smile raising my chin a little.
“Why would I give my daughter to an animal’s hand!” The king’s words were more than an insult to me.
“Because my king, as you can see, your daughter was hit by an arrow. As far as I know, we didn’t bring arrows other than swords. We don’t need many weapons to fight in a war since we are a great weapon”
“What are you trying to say?” The young man asked.
“I was trying to say that this could be a mistake or there was a traitor among your crowd!”
