FARAH’S POV:
As I entered the hotel, I saw the receptionist stand up front as if respect was being paid to me. Me! Ha! As if!. She must’ve stood up for someone else. Dad would’ve returned by now, so I decided to go see him.
“Hey Dad.” I spoke, entering his room.
“Hello Princess. How was your day?” Dad inquired as I did.
“It was awesome. I enjoyed it a lot.” I replied happily.
“Oh good. We are leaving tomorrow, so enjoy as much as you want till then.” Dad told me.
“Ok Dad.” I replied.
The next day, we went along for shopping. I didn’t particularly like shopping, but I did love shopping for gifts. I bought gifts for my grandparents, Dad and Hania. We reached Lahore in the evening and as soon as we reached home, I went to my room to get some sleep.
I woke up around noon and I went to the living room to see Dad sitting there.
“Hey Sweetie, what’s your plan for today?” Dad inquired.
“Nothing much Dad. I am not going anywhere today.” I told him, lazily.
“Ok Princess.” Dad said and continued his work.
The next day, I decided to hang out with Hania and I came back at around evening. When I entered the living room, I saw Dad sitting with a man and an old lady, barely suppressing his anger. I retreated back to my room to avoid his anger. People shouting and being angry always makes me scared and anxious. I went to my room and decided to take a nap.
At dinner, I noticed that Dad was still angry and stressed.
“Dad, is there something wrong?” I asked, worried.
“No nothing…” Dad replied reluctantly.
“Dad what happened?” I asked again and he sighed.
“Princess, they came here with a proposal for you…” Dad trailed off.
I was shook. I could not comprehend his words.
When I didn’t say anything, Dad continued,”I told them that you were too young to get married.”
“Dad, I don’t want to ever get married, let alone now. I know there is more, tell me.” I told Dad impatiently.
“They were persistent, even after having me say no again and again.” Dad told me.
I went back to my room so I could sleep but I couldn’t.
I woke up very late. I thought Dad must have gone but I as proven wrong when I walked out of my room to see Dad and another man in a very heated discussion. Upon seeing me, both of them stopped.
“Go to your room, Farah.” Dad ordered and seeing that he called me by my name, I figured that it was quite serious. I quickly turned around to leave.
“Farah.” Came a strong, hard voice. The deepness of it caused me to freeze and only be able to look down at my feet.
He walked in front of me and I looked up at him, only to have my eyes widen. He was the same man with whom I had an encounter with at the hotel. I quickly looked down again, but not before I saw him smile.
“Leave now. We don’t want any relation with you.” Dad shouted.
“She is going to be my wife. By hook or crook.” The man in front of me stated calmly.
“I will never marry you.” I told him, only to have him smirk at me as if challenging me and leave.
And as he did, I knew that something bad was going to come our way.
