Chapter 4

Elena Shivers ran down my spine as Marco's words hit my chest deeply. His eyes were fixed on me as let the words out. "You are going to sleep in there as punishment for entering my room without my permission." I shook my head in disbelief at his words. He didn't mean what he said right? He would not leave me caged inside the heavy glass shower room right? I had tried to get the door to open but failed. First of all, I blamed myself for not checking first before entering. I wanted to take a shower but the water from my bathroom wasn't working. So I thought of using Marco's bathroom before he returned home. I didn't know that would get me in trouble. As soon as I stepped inside, the sound of a siren followed suit scaring me away and when I attempted to get out, the door jammed with me inside. After much contemplation, I decided to keep my pride and call Mother so she could send Marco's number. She had asked why my voice was echoing but I lied. I lied to Father too when his call later came in. Now when I thought I would get a fresh breath of air, Marco wants to play a card of evil. "Marco," I called out just as he slipped his phone back into his pocket and proceeded to leave the bathroom. Fuck. I haven't seen a big bathroom like this before. My room back in Philadelphia would fit in and have more space. "Open this door!" I kicked the door with my foot a hiss erupting out of me. Despite it being strong, it didn't stop me from trying. Marco stopped and looked at me, his lips slightly curving up. He looked like a devil. His smile wasn't genuine. I didn't want to think about how restless I was last night when he pointed a gun at me. I even considered asking mother whether she knew he was into bad dealing because how in hell did he get a gun? I was still thinking when I heard a knock on the glass door. Marco's arms were folded across his chest with that same smirk on his face. I hated that smirk. It gets on my nerves. "I would like you to keep your voice down because I will be working in my room." He said. And I rolled my eyes. He must be kidding me. "If you don't want me to make noise then let me out." I hissed out hitting my palms on the glass. "You entered there with your two legs, so you have to find a way and get yourself out. Good luck." And he turned on his heels. "Come back here, Marco!" "Open this damn door!" "I swear I will—oh I get it. If you think you can mess up with me, I will do the same!" All my kicking and screaming were all to myself because Marco was already out. But I was sure he would be able to hear it from his room. "I know how to deal with you." I quickly dialed my mother's number and placed it to my ear, biting my lips as I waited for her to pick up. The call ended but I didn't give up. I tried again for the second time. My mother's exhausted voice resonated from the other end. It was my second call to her for the day. "Hello Mom, sorry for-" "Hello Elena?" "Can you hear me? Elena." "Elena?" In a matter of seconds, the line went dead. And when I called the number again and got a machine response, I knew right then she ended the call intentionally. Not because she couldn't hear me. What a great way of your day getting messier. "He can go to hell then!" I groaned out kicking the glass so hard that I ended up falling butt down. "How can someone be this ignorant? He knew it was chilling cold in here yet he decided to act wicked and refused to let me out." I muffled out to myself, raking my fingers through my hair. The cold slowly began pouring down onto my body making me bury my head in between my legs. The person I thought I could get some help from doesn't want to talk to me. She ended the call on purpose. And I didn't want to make my father feel bad about my situation. He had been sad about me leaving in the first place. To keep myself busy, I decided to play a game on my phone which lasted for a few minutes before the battery ran down. "Every f*****g thing had gone against me today." I groaned menacingly. "All because of that so-called stepbrother of mine." I hadn't finished closing my mouth when I saw him coming in. The devilish stepbrother of mine. He was dressed in all black just like his black heart. But then again, the sweatpants look good on him. And his locks were slightly getting into his eyes. All of a sudden, my throat felt dry when he approached me and fixed those captivating yet wicked eyes on me. I had a lot to say to him but held myself back and waited to see what he would do. My inside turned with excitement when he stretched his hand and placed his thumb on a spot. The glass door instantly opened after making a small sound. Wait..what just happened? Marco used his thumb to unlock the door. How? I didn't get time to react when Marco gripped my arm and started dragging me out of the bathroom. Chills ran down my spine not only at the way his fingers were burning holes in my skin but because of an unexpected heat that was coursing through my body. "Let go of me," I uttered as soon as we were out of the bathroom and into his room. Marco released his hold from my arm. I bit my bottom lip as I felt an intense pain on the spot. "Who gave you the permission to enter my room?" Came his question. I was still rolling my fingers over the sore spot. "The water from my bathroom wasn't coming out so I wanted to borrow your own but—" "You're crazy." He snarled. "Wait what? How am I crazy here?" "Because you lack common sense. I thought I had warned you enough yesterday." Well, if he was referring to the gun pointed at my head then, it did scare me off. But he wasn't planning on doing anything to me right? "Does the family know you have a gun?" I asked dodging the first topic. Something flickered in his eyes which he was quick in replacing with anger. A small smile found its way out of me. His silence meant they didn't know about it. I took a step forward maintaining enough distance between us. "How do you think they will react if I happen to tell them about it?" I lifted a brow. In a matter of seconds, Marco gripped my arm once again emitting a gasp out of my mouth. My palms landed on his chest. His burning dangerous eyes were back on mine. "You wouldn't mention a word to them." I was scared inside but my mouth still had the power to blurt the words out. "I can. Just to get back at you for messing up with me." I said. His eyes grew darker shade. "You don't know what messing up with someone means. Just mention a single word and I will show you who Marco is." His tone was sharp and dark. Right then and there, I knew I had gotten into a dangerous territory. I might not be able to get out of it anytime soon. Maybe.
