Elena "This would be your new desk from now on. If you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to your team leader there, Mr. Patrick." The elderly man, Mr.Tim, explained as he showed me to my desk. Everything happened so fast. From getting to the chairman's office who asked me me little to no questions. To the chairman's secretary, Mr. Tim briefly explained to me what I needed to know for my job. I was shocked when I got the employee ID card so fast with my name and the job position. Logistics Coordinator. Quantum Logistics and Supply co, is a cutting-edge logistics and supply chain management firm specializing in innovative and sustainable solutions for global businesses. It was my first trial in job application and I got it in one go. I thanked Mr.Tim before proceeding to settle down in my seat. The cabin I was assigned to has a lot of employees who don't even give a damn about the appearance of a new face. They were all buried in their work. Not like I mind. My journey from home to office was a disaster. I nearly arrived late on my first day. All because of the good-for-nothing Marco. Thinking about our encounter always pisses me off. He was right. I have a big mouth. At least I know when to use it to defend myself. He can't do s**t about it. He has scared me off twice. First, pointing a gun at my head, the second one threatening to mess me up after I had entered his room without his permission. I was tempted to press on his buttons then but a part of me was afraid of the consequences so I only nodded and fled from the room. This morning too, I had a hard time getting to the office because I woke up late. And instead of Marco to offer me a ride, he drove out of the house while I was left searching for a taxi. All the houses in the neighboring are big so it's hard for taxis to show up. The people that live in the big houses have their cars. "Here newbie." I was startled when a stack of papers was being dumped on my desk. "The boss said you should sort this out." the young lady said gesturing to the team leader's desk who had his eyes fixed on me. My eyes darted between the bunch of papers to the man. "All the best." He mouthed. Three hours later I was already rethinking my joy about getting the job on the first trial because what's with the workload? Or was it because I was new and they wanted to take advantage of that? Nevertheless, I recalled that I needed to work hard to save up. Most importantly to save up and leave the f**k out of Marco's house because there was no way in hell I would tolerate being around him. He's a danger to my life. Despite the amount of sorting I did, I still had more paper to sort out through spreadsheets. It was as if an invisible ghost was adding more to my already sorted work. "Everyone, it's the time of the week again. Marc Perfumery needed us to come pick up their new products!" Mr. Patrick clapped his hands together getting the attention of everyone. "As usual we are going there in two numbers, three with the driver picking up the product. Who is volunteering?" suddenly everyone returned their focus to their computers as if they weren't the people who were attentive to Mr. Patrick's announcement. Mr. Patrick's eyes shifted to me. I narrowed my eyes and he did the same. I hope it wasn't what I was thinking. Please if should not... "Katherine you are going there with the newbie. Elena. Get ready and move!" He declared. A frustrated hiss left Katherine who was seated next to me. Nothing was explained to me but I have a feeling that the company they mentioned was likely to be a bad influence to their employees. "Let's go, newbie." I could barely hear Katherine's voice and her anger was dimmed visible. The truck pulled up at a big building with the name 'Marc Perfumery' written in bold at the top of the building. I didn't have time to access the place when Katherine dropped a paper onto my body. "You're going to tick each product we take." I don't know whether it was me but her tone was somehow commanding at me. I inhaled a deep breath. "Don't worry Elena. It's your first day at work. It would get better." I mentally assured myself before following her inside. Surprisingly, the inside was quiet and somehow calming. Katherine communicated with the receptionist before we headed in. We walked past a couple of doors before arriving at a large two-door. My mouth hung open at the beautiful sight before me. Different kinds of perfume are on display on shelves. From packaged ones to singles. I didn't try to hide my amazement at how beautiful the office was—warehouse I mean. "Save your staring for later, let's get to work!" Katherine's sharp voice charged behind me getting my legs moving. I didn't know where to start from. I could spend the whole day admiring every perfume. I hadn't even started touching anything when I heard Katherine hissed out beside me. "Damn this man! I guess you will handle it from here." Her words had barely processed in my head when she dropped a hand glove on my already occupied hands and fled out of the warehouse. "Wait...did that lady just ditch me?" I asked no one in particular, my eyes roaming around the warehouse. A chuckle then escaped out of me. How was I supposed to know where to start? What perfume to pick and even so how do I get them out on my own? I'm sure she did it intentionally. It would get better Elena. Remember it's your first day. I forced a smile out of my face before glancing around. "Let's see. Body mist, 20 packs. Deodorants..." I started out checking the names on the shelves. "Get your hands off that shelf." Due to how sharp the voice went down to my ears, it startled me, making my legs lose balance. Before I could see myself falling to the ground, a strong hand circled my waist while the other held my wrist, preventing me from falling. My heart pounded inside and I slowly moved my face to meet the dark ones of Marco. More shivers ran down my spine when he gave me those weird smirk of his which I took a dislike towards. They always come before or after his wicked acts. My breathing hitched when Marco suddenly started leaning closer to my face. The rate at which my heart was beating grew twofold. What was he going to do? I gulped down saliva and found myself tightening my fist. Just when I thought he was going to kiss me, he said something unexpected. "You're even following me around now? My little stepsister." My eyes widened.
