I use to hate Mondays. I prefer to work from home most days and only come in when I had important meetings that couldn’t be done over skype. That was before I found her. Now I dread Fridays, knowing I would have to wait two days before I could have her close to me again.
You see I am not human anymore. I was about four hundred years ago, give or take a few years. I was bitten by a rogue wolf and at first it was a struggle to come to terms with what I had become. I struggled to get control over my wolf, constantly fighting against him. I knew I couldn’t tell anyone what I was and in fear of hurting those I loved, I walked away from the human life I once had. I was found by Alpha Rayn a few months after. He taught me what it meant to be a shifter, how to be one with the beast within. I worked my way up into the pack until I became his beta and the day he was murdered by a rival pack, I became Alpha of the Silver moon pack.
Four months ago I walked into the super market of the small town at the edge of the Mt. Hood forest where my pack lived. I was on the hunt for doughnuts for my betas pregnant female. Chris was running patrols on the boarders of our territory and having an angry pregnant female wolf was never a good thing, so I volunteered to run to the store for her.
The moment I walked into the store, the smell of jasmine and something completely unique to her stopped me in my tracks. My wolf started pushing against the walls of my mind, wanting to go hunt for the woman that he instinctively knew was our mate. He wanted to find her and rub his smell all over her so that every male would know that she belongs to us.
I walked up and down in the store but couldn’t find her. I knew she was here but her scent was faint which means she must have left just before we got here. I followed her scent into the parking space, hoping that I could figure out which direction she went in, but her scent stopped there. I was hoping against all hope that she didn’t just drive through and that she would stop by the store again.
I went to the store every day for a month hoping I would be able to find her, but lost hope when I couldn’t even smell her once after the first time. I really thought all hope was lost, until I had a to go into the office for a meeting. I showed up an hour early to distract myself from my lost mate and get things set up for the meeting when there was a soft knock on my door.
The smell of jasmine had my head snapping up and my wolf jumping with excitement. As our mate walked into my office I couldn’t help but stare. She was absolutely perfect, with her long golden blonde hair hanging over her shoulder. The black pencil skirt and white blouse showed of the beautiful hourglass figure. She wore black heals that made her legs look toned and I couldn’t wait to have them wrapped around my waist. She had creamy white skin that looked so smooth I wanted to run my fingers over it just to see her shiver with goose bumps over it. My eyes make their way slowly up to her face to look at her soft pink lips, those pink lips were also moving and going by the cute little scowl on the face, I would say they have been moving for a while.
“Sir, are you listening? Do you want me to tell Mr. Anderson to wait or reschedule?” She asked a bit irritated. I must have looked like a fool staring at her. She is human after all and wouldn’t understand the depth of what she means to me. She wouldn’t understand why I am staring at the as if I want to lock her in a room to f**k and mark her so that every male out there would know she is mine. She definitely wouldn’t appreciate the fact that my d**k is so hard I know I won’t be able to hide it even if I tried.
“My apologies, I have a lot on my mind and have been a bit distracted. Please call me Jackson. Who are you if I may ask? I assume you are new here? Bridget usually knows what to do with my clients. Is she sick or late?” I winch at my choice of words. “Not that I don’t think you aren’t just as capable as she is.” I try to amend.
“My name is Katy and I work at reception. Bridget is on maternity leave, it was her last day yesterday. She gave me a bit of training but we worked on short notice as the temporary PA called in two days ago to let us know that she has accepted a permanent offer that she couldn’t refuse.” For some reason Katy is not the name I imagined for her. I expected something more unique but Katy could be short for something else. It took my slow brain a while to process everything she said and I wanted to hit myself for forgetting that Bridget would be on leave. I really need to call her and find out how she is feeling.
”Is Katy short for Katharine?” I ask, not able to help my curiosity when it came to her.
“No Sir, just Katy.” She said with a tone that made it clear she wasn’t open for any personal questions. I knew I had my work cut out for me but I was never one to walk away from a challenge. She would be mine, it might just take longer than I hoped.
“Alright then Katy, if you would please let Mr. Anderson in and ask him what he wants to drink. Has Bridget told you how I drink my coffee?” She scrounges up her nose a bit but then gives me a smile that makes my mind go back into the gutters again.
“Yes Sir. I will bring your coffee with Mr. Anderson’s choice.” She turns around and the soft sway of her hips draws my attention to her round ass. I groan softly and she turns around to look at me.
I clear my throat in embarrassment. “Thank you for taking on the extra responsibilities on such short notice.” I tell her in hopes to distract her. “And please call me Jackson.” If she keeps calling me sir, I might not be able to keep myself from bending her over my table.
“It is a pleasure and I will do so next time, Sir.” Before walking out the door and closing it behind her.
From that day I have been coming into the office every day. I also made Katy my new temporary assistant to have her a bit closer to me. My wolf keeps pushing me, not understanding my need to wait. Katy keeps shutting down every time I ask her anything personal. She is like a closed off book, all I do know about her is that she as a brother, Drake, that is ten years younger than her that she lives with and that she recently moved here from Africa. Her birthday is in January and she is thirty years old. I only know this because it was the only bit of personal information that she gave during her interview. If it weren’t for the identification documents that she had to give in along with her CV, I wouldn’t have believed that she is thirty. I would’ve guest twenty eight at most.
A knock on my door draws me from my thoughts. I know it is her before she walks in. My d**k is instantly hard and my wolf aggressively pushes against my mind, wanting me to go to her. I am running out of time, if I don’t make a move soon, my wolf will do it for me. “Good morning Sir. I just wanted to thank you for letting me leave earlier on Friday.” She says standing in front of my desk. I take my time to take her in. She has a black dress on that ends just above her knees. The dress looks like it is wrapped around her to show off every curve. The red heals she is wearing will be taking part in every one of my fantasies from now on. She has a formal red and black jacket on with the sleeves pinned up just underneath her elbows. She crosses her arms in front of her as if sensing my appraisal of her outfit. The movement draws my eyes to her hands and the ring on her finger makes me growl before my brain can catch up to the fact that it is on her right hand and not her left. It could be a ring she has always had but just matched her outfit, I try to reason with myself.
I try to clear my throat and give her a shy smile. I really need to move fast if I plan to get control over my reactions to her. “It’s a pleasure, I hope you feel better and more rested.” I asked, trying to get that confused look off her face. She came in here to be nice and say thank you and here I am growling at her like the animal I am.
“I do, thank you. Is there anything I can do for you this morning?” she asks politely. I tell her that I am alright for now and if I wasn’t paying so much attention to every detail of her, I would’ve missed the disappointment flash through her eyes before she smiled and walked out.
I keep finding reasons to talk to her the rest of the day. Even going as far as asking her to bring me coffee three times before lunch, using the excuse that she makes the best, when in all honesty she is really terrible at making coffee. I know by now that she never drinks coffee and prefers to drink tea instead. By lunch time I see her getting ready to go out and I quickly jump up to catch up with her.
I get to her just as she closes the door to her office. “I was wondering if you would like to have lunch with me? There is this café around the corner that sells the best sandwiches in Portland.” I ask her before I can chicken out.
“Um, sure. I could do with a bit of company.” She says with a bit of a blush and I let out a relieved breath.
Just as we walk out the building her phone starts to ring and she gives me an apologetic smile. “I really have to take this. Just give me a moment.” She quickly walks away and into the ally for some privacy to take the call. A human wouldn’t have been able to hear what she said, but I was no human.
“Hey baby, what’s wrong?” She keeps quiet for a few seconds listening. “Sweet heart, don’t worry about it. I am having lunch with my boss so I’ll be alright. I have to go now. I love you.” Those last three words are all it takes for my control to snap and my wolf to take over. She is OURS!
