Some time later, Robert woke to the smell of cooking meat. He sat up and looked toward the fire. Red Horse sat on his haunches with his back to him. He, again, admired the muscular back and legs. Red Horse turned and looked at Robert. A smile spread across his handsome face. “Did your sleep help you?” Robert took stock of his condition. His head felt much improved. “I feel much better.” Then he added, “I feel hungry.” “Good,” Red Horse responded. “Come, it is ready.” The two men sat next to each other as they ate. During the meal, Red Horse asked Robert about his life before the attack. Robert told of his time in Massachusetts: living with the Slocums, working at a cooperage. He continued with his coming to The Ohio Country, working with McGee and ended with his joining The Crown’s arm
