Ch.18 Elizabeth

Ch.18 Elizabeth The next few days went on uneventfully. I managed to stay far away from Tristan and Vivian, and worked to get everything ready for my departure. “You’re majesty.” One Tristan’s men came over and handed me a sealed note. It was an invitation to a gathering at one of the Alpha’s land. “Hey you,…oh you got one too.” Justin said as he and Thomas joined me. “Too?” I asked him. “Yeah Tristan got one. He wants one of us to go in his place. You going?” Thomas asked me. “I suppose I have to.” I said with a sigh. Meetings with the alphas was something that I needed to do. It was how we were able to keep peace with all the different packs that stretched the area. It would also give me an opportunity to speak with other alphas from the area. Thomas had let me know that because of the attack from Blackburn, Tristan now was able to make a case with the other alphas to mount an attack. “In that case, Justin will you please go? I have something special planned with Kenna that night I don’t want to have to cancel.” Thomas said to Justin. “Ugh! Those things are such a bore.” Justin complained. “Hey! I am going, it wont be a bore.” I told him feigning hurt. “Fine I guess but you owe me!” “Yes, I owe you. Thank you!” Thomas said happily. Later that day I was stopped by Sarah. “Hey! I heard you’re going to Alpha Water’s dinner party. I have the perfect outfit in mind for you. You down for it?” She asked with a smile as we walked. “Sure, that would be great.” It was a huge help not to have to think about what I should wear and have it all just appear in my room. Sarah had great taste and she knew exactly what would work for what event. She stopped walking and got serious after a moment. “Elizabeth, I don’t think I ever got to say thank you for what you did for me. I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t found me and helped me.” “Don’t worry about it. I’m glad you’re ok.” I told her with a smile. She then switched back to her cheery self and told me all about her vision for the dress. She said it would be a vintage inspired tea length dress with a sweetheart neckline, and the sleeves would be a slight bubble sleeve that cuffed at the wrist to make sure my scar was hidden.  I thanked her, and then she was off to her dressmaker. I spent the day arranging for me my men’s departure to the safe house. They would go ahead to make sure that it was still safe to go there. I received another message but this time it was Jacob. Looking forward to seeing you at the dinner party. The note read and there was a small box with thin diamond bracelet. He had been sending notes and gifts since that party and assured me that he was still interested but pack business was keeping him away. I was distracted by the thought of Jacob and didn’t realize when Tristan came over to me. I was looking down and didn’t notice until he was in front of me blocking my way. He was looking down at the bracelet in the box. His gaze turned dark and he looked as if he wanted to say something. I couldn’t talk to him though, not since I had found out he had marked Vivian. I moved around him and continued walking away. I could feel him looking at me as I walked away but he didn’t attempt to follow me. The day of the dinner party came and I found my dress in my room later that day just as Sarah had described it to me. It was black and she had left some silver accessories. The heels were a ballerina style with a ribbon to tie them up. I put my long hair in a loose side braid and got ready. I made my way quickly out to the front entrance and saw the car we would be taking but no Justin. “Finally, let’s go.” Tristan said coming over to me out of nowhere. “What? Where is Justin?” I asked confused I had only agreed to go since I knew that Justin was going instead of Tristan. “Why are you always so concerned with his whereabouts?” “I’m not. He told me he was coming with me.” I told him as he came over to open my car door. “Well he’s not. I’m going.” He said simply motioning me to get in.  I reluctantly got in the car and he came over to the driver’s seat. “Wait you’re driving?” I asked as he got in. “Is there a problem?” He asked raising his brow at me. I didn’t reply and looked straight ahead. It was only 4:30 p.m. but the sky was dark and the clouds hanging overhead threaten with a storm. We drove in silence the whole way to the dinner and arrived an hour and half later. We were greeted by the staff who took our coats and ushered us in. “Elizabeth!” Jacob said coming over to me and placing a kiss on my cheek. I felt Tristan tense next to me a low growl coming from him. “Hey, how are you?” I asked trying to ignore Tristan beside me. “I’ve been good, you look beautiful. Come let’s get you a drink.” He said placing his hand on the small of my back and taking me to another room. He introduced me to this person and that and we chatted away until it was time for dinner. He once again led me to his side of the table, and I could feel Tristan’s glare from the opposite end of me. “You have to come visit my pack one of these weekends. I think you would love it there. Lots of open space for you to roam. Actually why don’t you just come with me this evening we could spend the weekend together and then I could take you back on Monday.” He suggested in that easy cheerful way of his. There was a slam on the table and Tristan got up leaving everyone looking after him. Now what was his problem? “I should go check on that…” I said with a smile, but I could see he was about to protest. “…and let him know about our weekend plans.” I added quickly. This must have satisfied him as he gave me a smile and let me leave. Everyone had gone back to chatting promptly after and the sound of their voices echoed behind me as I looked for Tristan through the empty halls. I found my coat and made my way out to the courtyard. It looked empty and the rain was now pouring down. I turned to make my way back inside. Suddenly though I was being shoved in the car we had arrived in. “We’re leaving.” Tristan said as he slammed my door shut and was inside the car in an instant. “Tristan! Stop the car!” I shouted at him as he sped off. “What the hell is the matter with you?” I demanded. “Nothing. Jacob is taking advantage of you and you can’t just sit there and let it happen.” He said with a clenched jaw. I could see his knuckles turning white as he gripped the steering wheel. “What are you talking about?” I asked him, confused as to why he hated Jacob so much. “Has he told you that he was the one to leading a group of radicals who look to eliminate the monarchy?” His words took me aback. Was it true was he trying to get rid of the monarchies? I knew that there were people that felt that the monarchy was out dated, but I didn’t know it was a whole movement. The alphas supported the monarchy as we offered protection and stability to it all, even my human kingdom benefited them. “No, of course he didn’t. He has this all well hidden it took my men weeks to get this information.” He informed. I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t. I didn’t know if this was true or just misinformation. I knew that Tristan wouldn’t intentionally lie about something like this. “You’re not going away with him anywhere.” Tristan said with finality and glanced over at me his blue eyes dark with anger. “That is not your decision to make.” I said coldly. I hadn’t meant for it to come out that way, but I was angry at the fact that he thought he had a say in what I did. He had a mate and that was the only person he should be concerned about. “Elizabeth…” He began but his words were cut off as lightning struck above sending a huge tree falling over in our path. He tried to stop the car but the wet pavement had us spinning on the road and we went off towards a ditch slamming into a big tree. It was the last thing I saw before losing consciousness.
