Chapter 16: Short Lived Happiness

Six Months Later

I lived on the edge of the dark forest in a broken-down cabin that I had to fix up a bit, I hunted for food and was not allowed in Elvira or Ironside. I wasn't going to Vampora to test the theory of the Vampire Queen being ruthless since her husband left her to raise her kids alone. I am now a rogue living on neutral territory, no one has a claim to it, and all territories of Ravena surround it, there is a market at the edge that leads into Troll territory, I can go there to work and make a few dollars. I missed my family, I waited for Hilary and my kids for two days until a guard sent by Willix told me, she was not coming, she married and mated, Laurel, who will raise the kids. I was furious but thinking about it now, it was probably the best for them as they were vulnerable, I would get my revenge on Marion and Mendai, believe me, I promised this.

I will never forget the link Mendai gave me before I crossed the border, "You played yourself, Marion will always be the love of my life and our son will be a better man than you." I was shocked and then I felt the need to keep that in, he placed a spell on me never to speak of it again. I was right and I will end all of them and that b***h, Lenora, will be the first to test my blade, I should never have mated her but a beautiful woman was my weakness. I hear the thunderstorm about to hit us and I gather the firewood to take inside, I was going to get my revenge when they think everything is forgotten. I will punish Willix for defying me, he will never find happiness with that w***e, Marion.

Later that night, I was about to close my eyes after relieving myself thinking about Hilary, a light appeared out of nowhere, and the wind picked up. An entity with no face approached me and said, "Your need for revenge has awoken me, I can offer you a deal, I will teach you powerful dark magic, and in return, I want you to dethrone, Marion, I want you to take away someone she loves for good as a sacrifice to the cause," I smiled thinking about taking away her son. I closed my eyes thinking it was a dream until I woke up in nothingness, in a magical bubble as my mind wandered to the training I would need to defeat her. I was on my way to getting my life back, my family back and no one could stop me.

Two Years Later

Marion

The school was in full swing and Volterra had accepted me as the sole heir and Queen, Willix did his part and now I run things without needing to give my power over to him. He is my, King Consort, and he didn't mind, his father's betrayal made it easy for the Elders to fall in line. Princess Nola became my second in command and Princess Lenora was third in command, I had a female hierarchy, I was doing big things in Ravena, and women now looked up to me, news spread that I became the first female ruler of Volterra. Ravena was shaping up because of it, even wolves started to accept female Alphas but men were not making it easy. I was pregnant now with my first child with Willix and he was more hands-on this time around after we lost our son many years ago. Clive, his former lover, also had a family and was now part of the Royal Guard helping with training our armies.

After a class of young ladies who came to train their magic, I was heading to my quarter to take a nap, I was due in a few weeks and was taking it easy. I never think of Joimar or what he was up to because he either survived or died, Hilary is happy with Laurel who turned out to be a great father to the kids, the last two call him dad but her first still hasn't warmed up to him yet but she respects him. Hilary turned out to be loyal to her current mate and husband, there is no doubt she loved Joimar but chose her kids in the end, Lenora and Hilary buried the hatchet since their kids are siblings and they are all related to the King. The kids love their older brother and make him a pest when they are ready but he loves kids, I know he will be a great father to ours. I was experiencing a good amount of happiness in my life and sometimes wondered if things would have been different if I found my fated mate or if my parents were still alive.

I didn't know when I drifted off to sleep but I was woken up by a nightmare about someone wanting my baby and I hugged my stomach. Willix linked me, "Are you okay, love? I feel your fear," I didn't answer and a portal opened in my room, my husband walked through, sat next to me, and hugged me as I told him what I dreamt about. He assured me that nothing would happen to our baby this time and I believed him. Willix was so sweet in making himself available to me, I was madly in love with him and didn't even know when I started to feel that way. We had an unusual start but things changed between us, he promised me not to take another to bed ever again and I did the same. Our bond is strong and won't break so easily, he rubbed my belly, talked to our child, and felt the kicks, we were happy.

It was late at night and I couldn't sleep, I looked out the window at the stars knowing my time for revenge had come, I looked at my sleeping girlfriend and decided to go for a walk placing a soft kiss on her forehead. I headed down the path to the lake and stared at the water going into a trans-like state when I saw what looked like a Moojin going after the Queen's baby. I gasped at the sight taking a deep breath, I don't know if it was a vision or just my conscience because as far as I know, she was well protected. I was planning to take out the royals anyway, so does it matter although I could never hurt a child? I decided it was time to make myself known, I hated that I would need to go there and expose King Willix's evil doings to his Queen before I ended him, a life for a life. I head back to the cabin, it would seem that my visions are starting but confusing and I couldn't understand why I was dreaming about a child with no link to me.

I woke up to the sun shining on my face and the bed empty, I had overslept because of last night and I headed down to the little kitchen to see breakfast and a note. Geneva had gone to the market since we needed some food items, I smiled as she left a sandwich for me and then I decided to head out to the Inn later. I was about to leave home when I started to burn up, I knew something was wrong, I turned to see the Moojin, and my vision blurred. I wondered where this demon was heading when he dived at me and I dodged it, my power started to light my hand but before I could use it, I saw black. I woke up to a strange smell and saw Geneva mixing an elixir, she smiled and hugged me once she realized I was awake. I was confused and asked, "What happened?" She started to cry saying, "You were in a coma for a month, I found you on the bedroom floor, the healer will return to check on you later."

I held my head as I had a slight headache, plus, the noise in the valley was loud, I asked, "What do you mean a month?" She said, "Yes, a month and the noise outside is the Kingdom celebrating the Queen, she gave birth to a healthy son two days ago, it's a week-long celebration." I laid back taking it all in, I didn't know how to explain everything that had happened but I felt weak and drained, I was not in my right mind, something was wrong and I knew it had to do with the Queen. Geneva left the room, to get me some more water and I stared at the ceiling going into another trans, this vision showed what was going to happen and I needed to go. I jumped out of bed in my weakened state and headed to the Palace, the Queen's son was in danger and why did I have the urge to want to save her from heartache?
