Chapter 23: Did I Do It?

I have been on edge lately since finding out I may or may have not slept with Alma, I honestly don't remember it, Marion is back and she was working on an antidote to help Elijah with his niece's mental health issues. I knew it was Elijah's daughter but again not my place to say anything just let it be. Luc was just as shocked as I, seeing Alma leave the room, I stopped her running over to her in a flash and she smiled at me with a visible love bit on her neck and I was confused. She said, "I won't say anything, Your Majesty," and went to walk away so I pulled her back inside the room and said, "Nothing happened." Alma smiled at me, taking her hand to rub my chest as I backed away saying, "It was enjoyable, Dru," biting her lip seductively, and I closed my eyes and told her, "Shut up," I was in shock. I knew something wasn't right, I never would have betrayed Marion like this, drunk or not, I was in love with Marion and wanted no one else to share my bed.

I told her, "Only my wife is allowed to call me, Dru," and I am still her superior and she will say nothing about this, I looked at the bed and realized I couldn't have slept alone. I was hurt because I don't even remember what I did, it looked like I cheated on my wife and I heard the door close. I mind-linked her, "If you tell anyone about this, I will banish you," she replied, "Your secret is safe with me," before closing the link. I didn't want to be that guy so I was going to find out the truth before I went to Marion about this and I turned to see Luc looking disappointed. I said, "You put me in the room but nothing happened, I couldn't have," Luc said, "You have to tell, Marion," and I said, "Give me a week to find the truth before you say anything," because although he was my friend, he was closer to Marion.

He will not keep this from her and I respect that, I head to my quarters to clean up and I look in the mirror puzzled at how I let my guard down around Alma. She was a sneaky witch, I was sure I didn't cheat on my wife, she always had a thing for me since Magic School but I always ignored her advances and was relieved when I didn't have to deal with her again. I figured she grew out of her obsession since she was mated but then I never saw a mark on her or was I that drunk? "f**k, I'm screwed," I thought, I took a shower and then I head into the bedroom to change when I saw Marion walking into the room, she was happy to see me as she jumped into my arms kissing me. She pulled back and said, "Rough night," I smiled saying, "It always is when you are not next to me," I hated lying to her but until I knew the truth, I wouldn't say anything.

A Few Days Later

I had everything known about Alma pulled, she was mated but she seemed to be cheating on her mate because it was a marriage of convenience and not love, he had lovers as well. I was angry at myself for putting my marriage in jeopardy with the love of my life, this was not me and I threw a glass at the wall in my anger. I let Lenora deal with class today and I headed out to ask someone for a favor, we didn't see eye to eye but hopefully, this was a way for us to get to know each other. I waited for at least an hour before I saw a demon who said his name was, Devon, and was there to escort me down to Samuel. I knew this was probably a bad idea but it was him or no one, he had the means to help me even if it was considered dark magic. I was led to his throne room and he turned to me and said, "I almost expected your wife but she wouldn't have used the spell you did," and I frowned.

Samuel

I was surprised when I got the magical call requesting my presence from Volterra, I knew it wasn't Marion because it was different Magic but strong. I knew it was King Dragu and I was skeptical so I made him wait a bit to see if he would leave but he didn't, so I sent Devon to get him since Balthazar was busy doing other things. If he wanted to battle it out I was willing because I knew he hated me or was threatened by me because of my relationship with Marion, it was a fling and I hope he believes that and knows I would never overstep unless she asked me to. I even remember my last visit I had before the Civil War when Marion asked me to help her, he was not happy.

Flashback

Marion summoned me a while back, it was important so after my s****l activities with my current girlfriend, I decided to go to the meeting. I walked through a portal by Wicker Lake, it was not easy to spot and no one can accidentally walk in here unless you have demon blood running through your veins. I saw one of Marion's warlocks waiting on me and he led me into Volterra as a mere humbled guest, it was beautiful here and all eyes were on me. I saw King Dragu and I knew he felt uneasy when I was here because I was seeing Queen Marion when she found out he was her mate. She chose him of course but in a way, he is still insecure about me and I wouldn't make him feel uneasy more than he already does, I respect Queen Marion and her love for him. Dragu kept his eyes on me just in case things got out of hand, and I smiled because I would have been protecting the beauty he had at his side if she were mine.

The meeting went well after she told us what to expect in the future, even King Caspian was shocked and we did what she asked. We trusted Marion so giving blood was the easy part and after our brief banter, I was escorted back to the doorway to the underworld, I was awaiting the Supreme's return and if I knew this was the beginning of some major traffic, I would have come on land a lot sooner to bathe in the chaos. I returned home to give Marlon and Kuron the news and they were just as shocked as I am, it all made sense when Bjorn and Bastien were summoned years ago to be reincarnated with the Fae Twins, if my documentation is correct. I have never met any rulers in Ravena besides Marion but I would wait until it was time for our rulers to return, the chamberlain twins' demons are our true heirs, only time will tell when they return.

Present Day

I was brought out of my thoughts as Devon announced the King's presence and I offered him a seat and a drink, I told him it wouldn't poison him as he looked conflicted. I knew something was bothering him and I could only assume it had to do with his wife, I waited until he put his glass to his head and drank it then said, "I think I cheated on, Marion, I need your help, Samuel." I was shocked and waited to see if this was a joke, he didn't like me much so I figured he was trying to see if I had been sleeping with Marion still but he was telling the truth. I asked him to show me what happened and I saw every detail, parts of his memory were missing and it wasn't because of the alcohol. So, I called my sister who was good at figuring out if a man cheated and buried the memory which I guess is what he was trying to ask.

Dawn walked in and smiled looking at Dragu like he was lunch and I rolled my eyes linking her, "He is mated to, Marion," she said, "Bummer, all the sexy ones are taken. Maybe, I need to move up top," and I closed the link, Dawn was no saint, she was my sister, of course, but no one disrespects her here because she can handle herself. Dawn walked over to him and asked, "May I?" Dragu gives her the go-ahead and her eyes turn solid black, she reads him like a book, and he feels uneasy like he is afraid of the truth, he is scared of his wife. I smile because little petite Marion will rip him a new one if he cheats on her, I waited for the few minutes it took and then she turned to me.

She said, "Someone wiped his memory, they want to give the allusion to him cheating but looking at the nice King here, he hasn't the balls to step out on his wife, he loves her." Dragu felt relieved and said, "Is there a way I can get the memory back," I said, "Easy, find the witch who placed the spell in the first place and ask nicely or I can kill her for you, we love bad energy down here, we thrive on it." My sister walked up to him and said, "I hope to find a mate as loyal as you, Marion is lucky but I don't think it was the witch in my vision, she was a low-level witch. For this spell to work on you, something else or someone else more powerful is at play, you have an enemy, Dragu, he made the first move," Dragu looked at me and said, "Time to play the game," we felt his power, he was angry but relieve he didn't cheat on his wife.
