Chapter 18: True Mate

1578 Words
Dragu Marion had been out for two days, I made sure she could rest her mind and soul, it had been shattered, I healed her as best as possible and stood on the balcony enjoying the midday sun. Nola is meeting with the Elders about what to do while Marion rests, I heard a knock on the door and I turned to open it and a servant girl brought a meal for me as required by, Lady Lenora. Lady Lenora was as shocked as I was that I was Marion's mate, I had no idea it would turn out this way and I was planning on rejecting her once she woke. I was not going to be mated to the enemy and I sent for, Geneva, who was waiting on me, I had a decision to make and I turned to a subtle moan to see Marion opening her eyes. I walked over to the bed placed my hand on her forehead to test her temperature and felt the tingles of our bond. I closed my eyes taking it all in, I felt at peace with her and it felt right, like I needed to be at her side for her future struggles. She said, "Willix," I moved my hand away because she loved the one person who ended my family and tribe. She jumped up and yelled, "You killed them, why did you kill them?" Her memories returned to her, the two guards ran into the room and she shouted, "Execute him," and they froze. She asked, "Why are you not moving?" I said, "I placed them there, I will let them go once we talk." Marion settled down and said, "Let them go," I closed my eyes and linked them to go, they left the room, and she asked, "What did you do?" I said, "As a Seer, I can show you better than I could explain because of who we are." She nodded for me to go ahead, since looking into my eyes, she felt the bond but faintly because of her love for Willix. I showed her my visions, my dreams, and what had happened the night she lost her family. I saw her tears run down her cheek and I wiped them closing my eyes feeling the bond so intensely, she was heartbroken and I didn't know what else to say to her. I had my pain to deal with and heal from, and I didn't want to let my parents and people down but in reality, there was no coming back for her family. So, Willix was not a threat anymore, in a way, he paid the price I had planned to give him but it was cruel to think that way since my mate lost her son in the process and is in pain. I left the room eventually so she could clean up, no one approached me because seeing a Seer especially as powerful as I was, was like an urban legend. Lady Lenora was in the lab with students and they bowed when I walked in, I said, "No need," Lenora excused the ladies and they left us alone. I told her, "Sorry, about losing your son and grandson," she said, "I grieved privately, he was my firstborn but I have his sister to be strong for," and I understood. I told her, "My girlfriend was on her way," and she asked, "Do you need room to break up with her privately?" I smiled and said, "No, I was planning on rejecting Marion," and Marion asked, "Why?" I didn't hear her enter the room but the smile on Lady Lenora's face said it all, she knew Marion was behind me before she bowed and left us alone. Marion looked at me and said, "I know this is not the best way for us to meet but I know meeting fated mates in Volttera is rare and near impossible so I don't want to lose that, especially after what happened, Volterra needs you as much as it needs me, let me get back on my feet before you decide, please Seer," and I smiled saying, "So, you don't know your mate's name?" After an earlier talk, I was waiting for, Geneva, when I got word that she was attacked and killed, I was confused because they were not talking about the safe route to the Palace. I ran down to see the body, it was a rogue and my anger built, only one person knew about the route she was taking and I walked up to Marion saying, "This is how you do me after I told you I was choosing, Geneva." I was holding back my tears but she looked at me confused, was she acting? Nola said, "No, Marion wouldn't have known, plus, no rogues can enter here, and who else knew besides us?" We turned to see a particular guard missing, Luc looked at us and said, "I am on it," before he headed out the door. Marion said, "I wouldn't do that," I said, "But you gain a lot after her death, don't you?" She said, "Is it so bad to want my mate without having competition?" ****** Two Weeks Later Marion After the small funeral for Geneva with just close family and friends, Dragu looked at the headstone and placed a unique mark on it before saying, "I had planned to mate her before the incident with your family." I know he was putting up a fight against our bond, even suppressing it a little and I don't blame him, I was still in love with Willix but I have to move on if I was to run the Kingdom properly. I was still trying to find a way to open the portal to nothingness, hoping maybe, they were still alive but deep down, I knew they were gone. I mourn the loss of my husband and son, tradition states that I won't take another mate for at least six months so it gives me time to win Dragu's heart. Normally, another noble of the court, I would be married off, or any Prince or King for their treaty but since everyone knows now that the last Seer King is my mate, they expect us to mate eventually and they already started to respect him as the future, King Consort. Luc found Geneva's killer, he was executed on sight by Luc and his men, he betrayed us by killing Geneva because, in his sick mind, she had the King's heart. I know my people are loyal but I don't need that kind of crazy loyalty because only innocents get hurt, I planned to do better than past Kings. I planned to do things differently, I will not kill you unless absolutely necessary but you will get prison time or banishment. Laurel is working on laws with Nola for that purpose, Dragu is unique, his eye color is a soft shade of grey with his white shoulder-length hair. He wears a silver vine in his hair with a braid and his body has a large symbol on the back and chest with tattoos on his wrist, leading to his fingers. He has a six-pack, is very toned, and works out on occasion, he explains they are all magical symbols, the different levels of his power. I walked over to the lake because I summoned Samuel, I wanted answers before I set off to win Dragu's heart, but I still held out hope of finding my son and Willix even if I had to give him up for Dragu. I have been mourning my loss but I need to be stronger so this doesn't happen again. Samuel appeared and he offered his sincere condolences but he assured me, he would look into this entity and get back to me, maybe, there was still hope somewhere and I smiled as he hugged me and kissed my lips telling me, "I miss you." I felt him blown back by a power boost, it was my mate who was furious and Samuel started laughing getting off the ground. Dragu yelled, "This is how you intend to win my heart," and Samuel said, "Not my fault you can keep or protect your women," and I looked at them dumbfounded. Samuel throws jabs at him because he is chaos and I was so out of my element because this never happened before. I snapped out of it real quick and got in between them telling them to stop before they seriously hurt each other and that it was not what it seemed like to Dragu. Samuel said, "I will take my leave," and warped out, Dragu looked at me and asked, "Why do you keep me around if you going to sleep around?" I slapped him, he looked at me in shock and said, "Ouch, I guess I deserve that," before he walked away from me, I waited until I settled my head and headed over to where Dragu was meditating. He looked at me with his eyes in a solid white color and said, "Marion, I am sorry if I offended you but if we are to mate, I need to trust you," I sat next to him holding his hand and promising to stay away from Samuel unless it was necessary and that he was no threat to us while also telling him about my history with the Demon King.
