*** Dylan’s POV ***
*
I couldn’t get her out of my head. I know I said I didn’t want a clingy mate, not yet at least, but she wasn’t like I imagined her to be. I actually wished she was clingy. I know it sounds stupid, but I would like her to cling to me day and night. She consumed every thought that went through my mind and I felt like I couldn’t mess this up. I don’t want to scare her away, I can't afford that. We need to be patient with her. She is a human who has no idea about the supernatural existence in this world. My poor little mate is clueless so I need to tell her all the secrets of the world, but in baby steps. I hope she won't freak out to the extent she decides to cut us totally off. Then I also need to tell her that there are actually two of me and we are both destined to be with her. I am sure she would freak out after that too, but that’s the only way. I just hope she will accept her fate with time and accept us to be with her forever.
I didn't have so high expectations of humans before, but since I met Jamie, I see them in a different light. They can be special in their own way as well, just like Jamie. She is different and special in my eyes. She is fighting like a tigress and that's a huge turn-on for me. I always wanted a capable mate who I could be proud of and I didn't expect to have a human girl for a mate. Moreover, I didn't expect to be proud of her the first time I saw her. When I realized she had won the fight against a werewolf, my chest filled with warmth and I was very proud even though I hadn't decided what to do about her yet.
At first, I wanted to reject her and find a suitable chosen mate for us. A mate who was strong enough to be a mate for both of us and who would be a great Luna of our pack, not to mention who could give birth to our children without dying. However, after the talk I had with Sera, she opened my eyes and explained the importance of things and that I shouldn't make a rushed decision. Anyway, after my second visit to see our mate, I ruled out the possibility of rejecting her. I could never do that.

(The talk on the bench with Sera)
*
“A human? Are you sure?” Sera asked with a stunned expression on her face after I told her that I had found our mate, but I couldn’t blame her. This whole situation was crazy and no one would have thought that we would have a human mate for the two of us.
“Yes, Sera. I am sure.” I said while I rolled my eyes at her. Of course, I could make a difference between humans and supernatural creatures. Our little mate was a human ,sadly.
“What do you want to do now? You should tell Damien and figure something out together.” She said and I knew she was right, but I didn’t want to rush anything. I was afraid Damien would scare her away with his love and impatience. He has been desperate in the last two years to find our mate and I was worried he would ruin everything if he wouldn’t be able to hold himself back.
“I don’t know yet, but until I figure it out, Damien shouldn’t know,” I said with a pleading expression on my face and she nodded her head in understanding.
“I hope you don’t want to reject her.” She said as she looked at me worriedly.
“I don’t know, sis. I don’t want to, but we should. Everybody would think that we are weak for having a human mate. What if they attack the pack because of that? What if they go after her to get to us? I am just scared, Sera. She is a fragile human. How can she even take both of us s*xually? How can she even give birth to our pups? I don't want to put her in danger either, but if we accepted her , her life would be in danger all the time.” I told her helplessly. There was so much going on in my head.
“Listen, Dylan. You know exactly that Grandma Nova was human too. She gave birth to mom without help. Do you seriously look down on humans that much? They are not as fragile as you think they are. The Moon Goddess knows what she is doing, Dylan, and if she thinks that a human girl is suitable for the two of you, then trust her.” she said, and I just looked at her, thinking about everything that she had just said.
“You are right.” I admitted and my heart felt easier as soon as those words left my lips. I was so stressed about our mate and I was glad I turned to Sera for advice. She was only two years older than Damien and I, but she was much wiser.
“Of course I am. Just go and try to get to know her. She must feel something of the pull, I am sure. Maybe not right away, but with time. When she finally trusts you, you should bring her here and show her our world and also tell her about Damien. He would be upset anyway when he finds out that you kept secrets from him, especially about your mate.” She said worriedly and she was right again.
“Thanks, sis. I don’t even know what I would do without you.” I said and stood up from the bench to hug her while she let out a chuckle.
“Go get your mate, D.” She said and I nodded my head with a smile. I couldn’t wait to see her again.

*** End of flashback ***

I hated to lie to Damien, but I needed to. I couldn’t let him mess this up for us with his impatience. I need to do everything so she would accept both of us and the situation we are in. Her life is about to turn upside down after all and I need to prepare her for that.
I couldn’t concentrate on work the whole day and finally it was evening so I could get to see her again.
It was amusing when she told me about thinking that I had a girlfriend. Did she really think so low of me? Having that girl for a girlfriend while I wanted to take her out? Tshhh… no way. I only want her. It’s her or no one.
I know what she felt though. When I saw her with that guy in the club, I wanted to rip his arms off of his body because he touched what was only mine and my brother’s. When she told me he was her best friend, I was relieved, then she added he was ‘gay’, which I wasn’t sure the meaning of, until she explained. I had never met someone who was a guy and had a boyfriend, but humans are weird. Anyway, that calmed me down even more, but wait… That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have a boyfriend, right? I should ask her about it next time I see her.
I drove to the club and it was a bit early, so I waited in the car a little bit, but then I thought, better if I just headed inside and have some drinks. I would seem too desperate if I had to wait for her arrival in the car, but right then a familiar car pulled up in the front of the building.
‘Good timing.’ I thought, and climbed out of the car excitedly.

*** Damien’s POV ***
*
I was sitting at the dining table with the rest of the pack while Dylan was again nowhere in sight.
I decided to have dinner with everyone since it was a long time ago that I had time to do so. Most of the time, I just asked someone to bring me something to eat while I was working in the office , but I wanted some company at this time.
“Hi Alpha. How is it going?” Cayden, our Gamma and the best friend of Sera and Mason, asked with a smile on his face as he sat down in the chair on my right side.
“Hi, man. I am good. How are you?” I asked and looked beside him, but I didn’t see his mate and pup with him.
“I am good too. I just miss my girls. They went to visit Roxy’s pack.” He explained and I nodded my head in understanding. He and his mate, Roxy, have a daughter, Avery. She is the same age as Aiden and the two are inseparable, so I wonder how my little nephew is doing now that she is not around for a while.
“I see. How long will they be away?” I asked him while we started eating.
“I think for a week or two. Iris and Daniel went with them since I couldn’t.” He explained.
Iris is our cousin from her dad’s side and Daniel is her mate. Her dad, Dante, is the brother of our mom. Iris is also the cousin of Cayden from her mother’s side, so Cayden was not our relative by blood. Iris’ mom, Caroline, is the twin sister of Cayden’s dad, Cameron.
Can you follow me? Because sometimes I get confused about this all myself.
“That must be hard on you,” I said with a smile, referring to being alone without his family, and he nodded his head.
“Yeah, it is, but the quietness and peace is not bad at all.” He chuckled and I let out one as well.
“Hi, guys.” I heard Chloe murmur as she sat down in the chair next to Cayden. Chloe was our aunt since she was the little sister of our mom, but she was only 2 years older than Dylan and I, so she was the same age as Sera, maybe a few months younger.
She was always kind of grumpy because she hadn’t found her mate yet, which made her frustrated all the time. One needed to know not to mess with her, she was a bada*s.
“Hi.” We greeted her in unison.
“Is everything good, Chloe?” I asked her, knowing very well from her expression that it wasn’t and she confirmed that when she snorted in annoyance.
“Yeah, it would be if your grandparents would leave me alone already.” She said disdainfully. She meant her parents…
Grandma Nova and Grandpa Dorian always told her to go and visit the nearby packs to find her mate, but she didn’t like the idea. She said her mate should look for her and not the other way around, but they didn’t want to put up with her mood changes all the time, so they kept insisting her to go.
“Why didn’t you go with them to visit Roxy’s pack? Maybe your mate is from there.” Cayden said, and Chloe glared at him.
“Don’t start you too.” She rolled her eyes and continued eating while Cayden held his hands up in surrender.
The only time I saw her smile was when she was with my sister or when there were children around. She wanted to have pups already, and that made her even more grumpy about not finding her mate.
“Where is Dylan? Out again?” She asked and I nodded my head.
“Yeah, like usual.” I said and she nodded her head.
“If you need help, just let me know. I have all the time in the world now.” Cayden offered, and I smiled at him.
“Thanks man, but I have got this. Dad helps a lot and even Dylan when he is around. That’s the only time I have seen him lately.” I said, and he nodded his head in understanding.
“He is acting strange lately, huh? I noticed that too. If I didn’t know better, I would say he found his mate.” Chloe teased me with a smirk on her face and I glared at her.
“Sadly, we are still in the same shoes as you are, Auntie.” I emphasised the word ‘Auntie’. She hated when we called her that because she always said that she felt old whenever she heard it. She deserved it now, though. It’s not nice to rub salt on my wounds, especially when she is in the same situation and she was even older than Dylan and I.
She just shook her head with a grimace and we continued eating quietly.
I hoped for her that she would find her mate soon for everybody's sake, because her own pack members were afraid of her. Nobody knew when she would lash out at someone out of frustration. If that happened, better if you were far away from her and everyone knew that already. Even when we were still in school, she was always hot-headed and short-tepered, but now, run for your life if you messed with her or offended her in any way. Luckily, we were her family, so we were on her good side, but I hope her mate will come along soon for everyone's safety.
