Diana stood silent and shocked, inside the green room, still dressed up in the same attire that she prepared to show up on the stage with and the two of her colleagues and friends, stood along with her.
“I still don’t get a single thing that happened here.”
Tony commented, making Gloria shake her head.
“I don’t get it. You lashed out at him as if it wasn’t the first time he’s irritated you!”
Gloria commented running her hand through her hair.
“What is it about him?” Tony inquired, agitated that there was more to the story than he and Gloria were told of. “What is it that we don’t know and that he did to you that made you hate him and mind, you didn’t also tell us what happened on your date last night. You literally ghosted us!”
Diana sighed with a loud grunt, as she threw her head back and rested her hands over her hips.
At the same time, the door to the dressing room dashed open and Emily appeared by the door.
“I just heard that the show got canceled.” She announced walking inside the dressing room.
“Aunt Emily? What are you doing here?” Diana asked, quite stunned to find her Aunt show up at the theater.
Emily wasn’t the one to show up for Diana’s shows. In fact, if anything Emily had clearly showed her distaste towards Diana performing at that wrecked up stage that was part of the worn out building.
Emily found it to be detestable and below par, compared to the status and class that she tried to achieve. She believed that it did not mirror well with the niche that she wished to establish for herself and those around her, including her niece and she had expressed her concerns one too many times and that also not just through rough gestures but through vocal and verbal means.
“Oh, I came to watch your show. Polly was with her friends and I didn’t have anything better to do. So, I decided to show up at your show but what the hell happened?”
“You really came to watch me?’ Diana asked with a hint of amusement, finding it quite surprisingly yet somehow soothing for her soul.
She was seeing a complete shift in her Aunt’s behavior and it was warming her up on the inside.
“Of course! I told you that I didn’t have anything better to do.”
Emily shrugged casually and even though Diana knew that Emily had a hard time expressing loving feelings, she was still there just for Diana and to see her do what she loved the most.
“But why that the show got canceled?” she asked and Diana once again had her mood turned sour and all the delightful feelings that she felt due to her Aunt showing up, vanished within seconds, the moment she was reminded of Adrian.
“Um! Thank you for finally asking the main question.” Tony added and Diana couldn’t help but feel excruciatingly irritated.
“Care to explain the whole Adrian drama?’ Gloria added in and Diana knew that there was no further point of fighting.
Her friends were quite fractious and pesky when it came to forcing Diana spit her guts.
They would nag her to the ends of the world to make her spill the truth and extract the entire narrative out of her.
Hearing Adrian’s name, Emily’s eyebrows immediately went up and she knew that something audaciously bewildering concerning Adrian had happened and thence, she decided to stay put and only listen to what Diana had to tell.
Taking in a deep breath Diana finally decided to not keep her friends in the dark anymore and decided let Gloria and Tony in to the entire version of what happened between her and Adrian ten years ago.
But just as she was about to speak up, the door to the dressing room and opened up and Bernard walked inside and Diana realized that it was better that for once, she let out the entire truth to everyone that was near and dear to her.
“What’s going on?” Asked Bernard and Diana simply gestured at him to take a seat because she knew that it was going to be one hell of a ride for her friends.
