What’s the usual color of someone’s face? The color of skin…
Diana herself was an expert at perfecting skin tone when it came to makeup.
She knew all the deep, hidden, twisted and technical methods to used to achieve the perfect color of someone’s skin. Ever since she got her certification in makeup, there hasn’t been a single client who’s perfect skin tint Diana had not been able to create and apply, to make their skin look flawless and give them that natural glow from within.
People from afar, all over California and even from nearby states came to Diana because of the gift that she had of using the appropriate technique and tools and make one look naturally radiant.
None of her clients ever went out of her studio disappointed and dejected. If once, someone came to her, they would go come back over and over again.
Diana was so perfect in her work, that she would even judge the expressions of her clients and base the technique that would suit the best to their expressions and either counter off or enhance those expressions, depending on the requirement of the client.
She was just perfectly dazzling, with what she did.
But when Adrian Sarmiento showed up in front of her, after a decade long of his absence that brought a scathing peace in her life, his presence once again scratched those scars of hers and opened up old wounds that began hurting right away.
And color of her face faded, actually her face showed more than just one color.
At one point, she went pale, changing from her light sand to faint ivory tone. She could feel the blood in her veins turns cold and incite almost the sensation of death within her body. Her heart, it beat too loudly the moment she watched Adrian walking towards her but the moment when he came to stand right in front of her, her heart had stopped beating and her brain went in to a state of semi comatose. Where she was standing for sure and could hear the faint whispers and murmurs of the customers and the salon workers, all chanting behind her and wondering what was going on. But she couldn’t feel anything at all.
Perhaps, it was the fear – fear that despite of all of her struggles and hard work of making sure to hide away and never to be seen again by anyone from her past life, had plummeted.
She was found.
She blinked her eyes on too many times and he way her innocent eyes met with Adrian’s electrifying blue gaze, she immediately shifted her gaze away, not wanting to be tantalized and traumatized by him anymore, just like she had been throughout her whole life.
She felt blush creep in to her face, once again changing the color of her face but then she closed her eyes, sensing Adrian’s stare on her face. but then her brain was immediately flushed with the currency of all the traumatizing and hurtful memories of what Adrian and his family did to her, which then angered her with the mere thought that the man responsible for her pain and her misery, because of whom she had to run away and even change her last name, had the guts to show up in front of her, which once again darkened her face.
Thence, even Diana a master makeup artist herself could not come up with a tint so perfect that would match all the changing tones of her own face.
She cleared her throat, mustered up all the courage that she could and opened up her throat, opening up her fisted palms as well and soothing down her raging anger at once. She lifted her head up and looked at Adrian’s face that was still impasse and stoic, looking at Diana with that soft and stagnant look, a small smile that curled up the corner of his lips, that Diana found incredibly fractious and wished to smack and wipe it off and away off his face because even though he looked intoxicatingly charming, possessing a poise that was irresistible, only Diana knew how truly toxic and cruel that man truly was.
Looking at his devilishly handsome face that had grown to become even more attractive and darkly striking than he used to be.
Diana always thought that people with ugly hearts, would start showing their true face at some point in time and their hearts would mirror their looks as well.
But she didn’t see that in Adrian’s case. In fact, he had somehow grew up to become more handsome, buffed and fine. That slight stubble around his face, added more to his accentuated features. Diana looked keenly at his jawline, was it always that sharp or if he had, had some work done on it. his small blue eyes – were they always this alluring or did he put on some lens to elucidate the color of blues that he possessed naturally because she didn’t remember his eyes being that dark and navy.
But no matter how she tried to wear rose colored glasses to view that guy, she still could not bring herself around looking at his face and felt revolt storm her insides, with a repulsive feeling generating that antiperistalsis movement inside her guts.
Just a single glance of his face and her mind spiraled her down, sporadically to all the events from ten years ago. Flashes of her misery occurred in her mind. Her fingers rolled again and her nails dug in to her palms. She clenched her teeth, remembering all those vicious events. A moment spurred through her mind, where she heard echoes of laughter, with everyone from her high school standing around her, having gathered her in a circle, laughing at her misery, which Diana perched low on the ground and tears springing down her face.
She immediately shifted her eyes off and away from Adrian’s face, facilitated of the fact that she still didn’t enjoy looking at him, even if the entire world would agree to disagree with her.
Maybe it was the anxiety that Adrian’s face and presence brought to her heart and mind but she felt disgusted and nauseous just by looking at him.
Adrian noticed the frequent shift in gaze and expressions that Diana was showcasing. He felt it actually amusing and that’s why he didn’t say much for quite some time and enjoyed the showcase of evident anxiety that Diana exhibited. The smile that Diana saw, was actually him trying his best to suppress his grin that appeared as he saw still how much Diana squirmed underneath his gaze.
Good thing – I still have that effect on her. kudos for me! Guess I am about to have a field day.
Adrian quickly replaced that grin from his face with a simplified smile and finally opened up his mouth to speak but he was immediately taken aback and kept his words to himself, the moment Diana’s aunt, Emily pulled Diana back, even taking her by surprise and stepped in front of Adrian, crossing her arms across her chest and lifted an eyebrow up. She was quite short heighted, barely five feet or perhaps a two inches above that but compared to Adrian, she looked like a koala next to him but that didn’t stop the woman, from comparing gaze with Adrian and staring him right in the eyes, showing that she wasn’t afraid of him or the showcase of power that he had just done by storming an entire troop of guards in to her salon. It was her territory and she knew just how to claim it.
