ABEERA’S POV: It was morning and we were having our breakfast when Mom suddenly spoke. “I’ve been meaning to ask you this, when are the both of you going for your honeymoon?” The question instantly made me choke on my food and Wahaaj passed me a glass of water. “Mom, you know how busy I am working and Abeera also has classes. So we won’t be able to go right now.” Wahaaj answered. “I’d known that you’ll make some excuse. So I want the both of you to go to Swat for the weekend, at least.” “But Mom-.” I tried to protest, but was cut off. “But nothing. I’m not going to listen to anything. I want you both to go and enjoy yourselves.” She said sternly. We knew we had no other choice, so we agreed. We left for the beautiful Swat on friday. WAHAAJ’S POV: I was greatly enjoying our stay in Swat. I couldn’t help but stare at Abeera as looking at her gave me more peace than any of my surroundings could. Saturday night, I was having a video conference with on of my clients in a room of the cottage when suddenly, the lights went out because of the terrible weather outside. Immediately, I heard a shout. Abeera. I quickly ran to our bedroom, where she was, with the flashlight of my phone turned on. There she was, standing near our bed and sobbing in her hands. “Abeera, what’s wrong?” I went towards her and placed a hand on her arm. She threw her arms around me and buried her face in my neck as soon as possible. “I-It’s d-dark.” She stammered and I remembered that she had a phobia of darkness. “Oh f**k! How could I forget such an important thing?” I thought. It was raining heavily and I knew that the light won’t be back on for quite a while. “Baby, relax. See, it’s not totally dark, my phone’s flashlight is on.” I cooed and she finally opened her eyes. She looked up at me and I could see her red and puffy eyes filling up with more tears. I never expected to find someone this adorable even after crying their eyes out. I wiped her tears gently with my thumb and was pleased to see her lean into my touch. The tears were continuously falling from her eyes. I made her sit on the bed and sat down beside her. She held my hand tightly in hers and I placed my arm around her and started caressing her hair. A while later, she was on my lap sideways with her head on my chest. It was as if she was seeking comfort from my touch. I caressed her hair with one hand and rubbed her back in soothing circles with the other. I soon felt her fall asleep in my arms. ABEERA’S POV: I woke up on a hard yet, warm surface. “When did the bed become this hard?” I thought. I opened my eyes to see that I was laying completely on Wahaaj and that his arms were wrapped tightly on me and his face was buried in my hair. I looked up to see his eyes open and him looking a me intensely. I blushed red and tried to move out of his arms, but he tightened his hold on me. I, then gave him a questioning look, to which he responded by lightly kissing my forehead and finally loosening his hold on me. I quickly went to the washroom and thought that how his care for me was proven by how well he took care of me.
