Amelia's p.o.v

Wolf and I talk to Lexi about our elite training for a bit, then Wolf tells me to accompany him to mingle with others. We walk around and I tell him I have to pee so he comes with me inside to where the restrooms are. Right before I open the door we hear someone talking. "River, this is your pup and you have to take responsibility. You can't leave me to deal with it." We hear. "Is that who I think it is?" Wolf links me. "I just found my mate Joy, you were just a fun time while at the Academy. I didn't know you were going to get knocked up though. You have a mate. You two can raise your pup and leave me the hell alone." The man who I assume is River tells her. I look at Wolf with wide eyes. We walk away looking for a different restroom. "Wow, I can't believe it. That's messed up." Wolf says once we get far away. I guess Lexi wasn't lying, but for them to try to pin a pup on Miles that is not his is messed up. Wolf is right. I find the restroom and go inside and handle my business. I walk out and wolf is spitting game at some chick so I just walk back over to where the party is being held. I go to the bar and grab a margarita with an extra shot on the side and slowly sip it. I need to get atleast a little buzzed to help me process what I just overheard. "Hello beautiful" a very tall, but handosme man says. "Hi" I answer. "What are you doing here all alone?" he asks. "Just vibing, taking everything in" I tell him. He nods, "I'm Alpha Aspen" he says and reaches out to shake my hand. "Amelia" I say and shake his hand. "Beautiful name for a beautiful woman" he says and brings my hand up to his lips and kisses it. I smirk. This man is handsome and a sweet talker, too bad all I can think about is a certain someone. "Thank you" I say and drink my shot. "Wow" he says. "Alpha Aspen, Melly." Damien, Miles dad greets us. "Alpha Damien, congratulations on your retirement." he says. "Haha, thank you. I am ready to just relax and travel with my mate" he says. "You met Amelia" Damien says and Aspen nods. "Yes, we just met" he tells Damien. He smiles at me. I take a sip of my drink. "Well, the ceremony is about to start so you should take your seats" Damien tells us. "It was nice meeting you." I tell Aspen. "See you around" he says and I don't miss the looks he gives me and I know Damien sees it to because he frowns. I walk away and take a seat. Unfortunetly I am stuck sitting next to Joy. I still can't believe what we overheard. Is she really going to try to pin her pup on Miles? Will he accept it? Just the thought of Miles having or raising a pup with someone else makes my stomach hurt, but I shake all of these thought away when the ceremony starts.

It was such a beautiful ceremony. He is so lucky, he got blessed by his parents and by the Lycan King himself. His pack is currently doing the pack run and I sit here awkwardly with Joy and her family who are just looking around. "Oh honey, this place is going to be perfect for your pup to be raised" Joy's dad says and rubs her stomach. "Miles must be very happy. I hope you are expecting a boy. You know Alpha's want their boy. Am I right?" he asks dad who doesn't even answer. Both of my parents look upset. I would probably feel upset too, but I know Miles isn't the father so what this man is saying doesn't get to me which I think that is what he is trying to do with the look he just gave me when he rubbed his daughter's belly. "Well I was content with my daughter. She is actually my only biological child. She is the pack's Alpha female. Wolf came to us when he was around 12 and we adopted him as ours." dad tells this man. "You handed your pack over to a child that you adopted?" he says looking astonished. This man does not bite his tongue. "I sure did. Our pack refers to both my kids as their Alpha and my daughter is living her best life doing what she wants. All I have ever wanted is for them both to be happy and she willingly handed over the pack to her brother." dad tells him and he just eyes Wolf, but doesn't say anything else. I love my dad. He doesn't force us into anything and he wants to see us happy before anything else. Aspen creeps his way over to our table and is having a conversation with dad and Wolf now, but I notice that his eyes keep trailing over my body. He isn't even trying to hide the looks now.

Black River members begin coming back after their run. I wait for Miles so I can congratulate him. I go to the bar and some of my coworkers are here. Wolf also makes his way over here. Everyone is talking and having a good time. I refill my drink. Finally Miles returns and I approach him immediately. "Alpha, a picture" Lexi says and I try to move out of the way so she can take it, but he grabs me and hugs me close to him. Lexi smiles and take a bunch of pictures. Luckily everyone jumps in the pictures, but he does not take his arm away from my shoulder even after the pictures and I know this is not right. He technically has a mate, even if she is a liar who does not deserve him. He needs to figure his relationship out and this is not a good look for me. I also notice Joy's father is glaring at me. "Congratulations Alpha" I tell him. He smiles. He actually smiles. "Amelia" I hear from behind me and I turn. "Oh, hey Aspen" I say. Miles stands next to me and I don't miss the glare they gave eachother. "I met your family. Very cool people" he tells me and I smile. "Yeah, my family is great" I say. The mood changes "Are you two a couple?" Aspen asks and I shake my head. "No, we just grew up together. Our parents are bestfriends" I say, trying to avoid things getting uncomfortable. "I am going to get a refill real quick. I'll bring you another shot" Aspen says and I smile and nod. "Miles, Miles," We hear someone yell. Joy's dad walks up to us. "Son, I do not appreciate that you are parading this woman around while your pregnant mate is sitting at the table all alone. You are embarrassing my family and pack. Joy is your mate not this...." Whatever he is about to say gets cut off. "Be careful how you speak about Amelia" Miles growls. Joy walks over to us and wraps her arms around Miles. She has a frown on her face, so I am sure her dad forced her to do it because he smiles like he just won the lottery. "Aren't they the cutest couple?" He asks me. ,ppfftt, so cute I am about to vomit. my Wolf tells me. I can't even answer, but I refuse to give this man the upper hand in making me feel like crap so I just smile and nod. "Yeah, the cutest" I finally spit out. "Congratulations on your pregnancy" I say looking only at Joy. I quickly look a Miles and gis eyes fly to mine and he's about to say something. But I decide to just walk away. I don't need any drama. "We need to talk. Lets go to my office." I hear Miles tell the man as I walk back to the bar. I watch the man walk away angrily. Miles turns around. I look at him and pray that he finds out that the pup his mate is carrying is not his. I want to tell him, but I do not want to get involved. I do not know what to do. It technically is not any of my business. I do not want to get dragged into anyone's drama. My eyes get watery thinking about pups being involved in anything messy. If my pup would have lived, I would protect him or her from any drama, anything bad in the world. He or she would have been safe with me. Aspen walks back and hands me my drink. "I was looking for you" he says. "I was standing right here" I tell him. "Want to go somehwere a little more private to talk" he asks me, I don't even answer because my phone rings. "Excuse me" I tell him and walk away.

"Hello" I answer. "Melly" I hear Clara and it sounds like she is crying. "What's wrong?" I ask her "Andy's dead" she cries. "Clara, where are you?" I ask her. "At the human hospital off Melrose" she tells me. "On my way do not move from there Clara" I say and hang up. I run back to where my parents are. "We have to go right now" I say as soon as I get to them. I link Wolf what happened and tell him to meet us at the car. He's there when we arrive and we all jump in. "What's going on?" Mom asks me. She didn't even hesitate to leave as soon as I told them we had to. "Clara's mate is dead." I say. No-one says anything. I drive us to the hospital. I park the car and we rush inside to look for Clara. We finally find her and Wolf grabs Clara's pup and we try to console her. "Clara, honey, what have they told you?" mom asks her. "Nothing, they called his family since we weren't married they won't tell me anything." she cries. I know Clara hasn't met his parents. I feel bad that they will meet under these circumstances.

We watch a group of people rush inside it's atleast 12 people "We are here for Andy Johnson" an older male says. "Please take a seat with the other people who are here for him." the nurse tells him and points to us. "Hello. You must be Andy's father?" dad asks the man. "I am, this is my wife, my other children and Andy's wife and children" he says introducing them all. We all look at him in horror and watch as Clara faints and falls to the floor.
